Twins and singles are different. You don't have the screamer powerband trying to spin the tire to the moon. Twins let the tire rest for a certain amount of time and grip. The inline fours just whizz up and the tire can't catch up and grip. It's the screamer vs big bang conversation. The 2000 GSX-R750 I had was one of the press launch bikes. Got it in 2001 with about 1400 miles on it from the dealership I worked for. It was absolutely stonking strong 750 with 126 wheel horsepower. Never had an issue with it and I actually think they've been broken in better than your regular rider would.
Have you ever found a press bike supplied for testing to have been ‘breathed on’ by the manufacturer to flatter it in testing? I ask because a friend, (recently deceased, unfortunately) ended up with a certain Italian 1098cc V-Twin superbike that had been a test bike for a US magazine here that had things like hand matched ports to the exhaust and obvious head work. My friend went the rest of the way and turned it into something really special… dropped 60lbs off of it with many custom changes. I really miss seeing the bike-it was as special as my friend Chad was.
Another great episode. So much learning packed into these videos. Thank you. I have a question regarding factory lowered suspension and its effects on handling both at low and fast speeds. As an example BMW S1000XR has this option. There are many who find this bike to be more accessible with the low suspension. Would be very grateful for your insight. Thanks once again.
You hit the spot on 20mph speed limits. It takes a lot of concentration to keep below this limit. Concentration that should be used for look out. Especially for crazy cyclists who think the speed limit and other rules of the road don’t apply to them.
The oe tyre thing is baffling to me. How can it be cheaper to make your own specific tyres for a bike instead of just getting something off the shelf? Why would manufacturers put on tyres that make their bikes seem shit? Bmw has oe tyres for its M cars, and they are largely regarded as being better than the michelin pilot sport cup tyres they are based on.
Some oe tires have less tread depth meaning there are made with less material, will not last as long as replacements and are cheaper for manufacturers.
The OE S22 tyres that came on my MT09 are absolutely fine as far as grip goes, they just don't last as long (3k miles) as the non OE regular S22's. If anything its Bridgestone getting the bad rep rather than Yamaha.
I watched your video about the mcm report on the 1199s, Id love to see you re visit the 1199 all these years later and maybe do a comparo with a modern day superbike???
Hey Neevesy! I am sure that in the past you had many bikes in the break - in period. Could you give us some tips on that ? Always appreciate your replies. Keep up the good work and enjoy that 750!
Hello Mr Neaves, I want to ask a question about an issue never discussed in any issue of MCN, any bike meet I have ever attended nor any online video ever made. I want to talk about Plums! I often find that even with the perfect bike and the perfect riding gear the old Happy Sacks always and often are the first and worst to suffer in the comfort game. Even the perfect ride in the most desirable location can be hampered when your Love Spuds start misbehaving. I am a boxer short man but have taken to wearing budgie smugglers to keep my conkers in check. A serious subject i hope you’ll agree and one that needs addressing and solutions shared within the community. So! Have you got any hints and tips for all day comfort and keeping our boys behaving in the barracks? Big fan, keep up the good work.
Great review as always so much specialist information and detail as everyone else says please may it all continue !, my question is just purchased a new 24 S1000 XR and the tyres it came on were as you said the old model S22 battlax disappointed they were not S23 what tyres would you put on I am not going to the track just a bit of touring and day out road riding thanks Ash
Hope your well mate 👍🏽😎, and hope your enjoying your recently re built 750 👍🏽😎🏍🌞 praying for some nice weather for you ! Always great episodes to chill out to , thank you ! 😎🏍

Hello Michael, im curious to hear your thoughts on the Ducati 999r in general, but also as in comparison to the 749r that you’ve showed love to in your video.
Great video as ever, keep em coming! I did the speed awareness course a number of years ago which seemed to contradict the Bike Safe course in certain areas. I have had a few near misses in staring at the speedo rather than looking for potential hazards which were lurking waiting to bite. As per bikesafe, You should always have an awareness of your speed but travel at a speed which is safe for the road conditions, as well as your skill and potential hazards. With so many cameras and developing technology (yellow box, bus lanes, one way systems, variable speed limits), receiving a penalty seems like a statistical certainty over a long enough period just due to human error. I would rather do the course of shame (speed awareness) than have a car tee-bone me because I didn’t identify a hazard due to staring at my speedo… thoughts?
I watch these vids with trepidation as my last two bikes have been recommended by yourself😂Ducati848 , Tuono V4 factory……..feeling safe at the moment as I can’t get past the fugly looks of the KTM
Hi Neevesy! Awesome content as usual, please keep them coming!! :D What is your take on super nakeds on track? I was under the impression that they might put more emphasis on having fun rather than chasing tenths, all in a more comfortable fashion? Seriously considering that 1390 super duke r for track shenanigans...
QUESTION - if you had £5k to spend on a NEW bike, what would you choose? I'm currently prevaricating between a Speed 400 and a CF Moto 700 clx Sport, but worried about lack of power with the first option and reliability/ long-term support on the second!
20:43 - @chriswest2290 I owned one of the Streetfighter V4S press bikes, KV20ARX, used by Bennetts, 44T, and perhaps MCN, although I couldn't find any evidence to support that. I was the third owner; it was owned by Ducati, a member of the public, then me. Apart from being high mileage, it was in great condition and seemed well looked after. It was bloody quick, beautiful to look at, and I regret selling it!
Hi Neevesy! Thanks for all the content, Only had a license for a couple of years and have picked up lots of tips from your channel! Question; After reaching two mile stones at my last trip to Knockhill, (James Whitham track day, favourite track day company) I have a question about vision/sight/target fixation. I got my knee down for the first time at the hairpin, before crashing pretty much straight after. I remember thinking about how buzzing I was to finally ‘slightly scuff’ my slider for about a second before I realised I was at the edge of the track and heading towards the tyre wall! The Daytona only had cosmetic damage and I walked away with just a lump on my leg. Very lucky! My question is do you have any tips for punters like me on how to remain focused? I’ve been at about 8 track days, and usually run off at least once or twice, never crashed except this one time. I know I’m target fixating/losing focus! Now that i’ve had my first crash and got my knee down, should I join the inters group next time round?!😂
Regarding the question on press bikes there is a triumph dealership in North Wales who has been stuck with some RR since they came out about 5 or 6 of them and can't get rid of them
Not sure if this is where you submit the questions but… My Arai Astro R is long overdue replacement, the fact it’s still plush and refined after 19yrs makes it even harder to consider changing brands! However (ever since owning a Kromega LX as a kid) I’ve always been an Alpinestars fanboy and during my 20yrs riding have only ever kitted myself out in black A* kit so should I consider their new Lid or go for another sporty fast road Arai again? Thanks for any advice and all the content over the years on all mediums!
I own a Panigale V4S (2023) and use it mainly if not solely for trackdays. Can't say I really understood the difference when replaced the OEM with the equivalent SuperCorsa SPv4. Though was quite a difference mainly in terms of wear and longevity when switched to D212 GP Racer (which in theory are more track oriented than the SPv4 right) ? I wasn't expecting them to work as a charm since their dimensions (200x55-17) are not Ducati's standard (200-60-17). Any thoughts on GP Racer on Panigale bikes ? Main benefit I still see from Pirelli's was quicker warmup (can't use tyre warmers since I always ride to the circuits). Love your videos and your career so far, hoping to see you in a Catalan track/road one day 🙃
I know I'm cynical generally, but I find it hard to believe that oe tyres are different due to 'cost cutting', which would save a small percentage of the bike's manufacturing costs, set against the possible PR damage to the brand. I can However understand slightly different compound maybe to boost longevity on your new bike. 🤔
Not sure why company's put oe tyres on bikes . Most people change them and then never buy those again. But if they put the best version of those tyres on it they would sell multiple pairs over the bikes life.
Surely putting a quality set of tyres on isn’t going to rise the price of a bike that significantly, OEM can purchase tyres cheaper than you and I can.
@@jefflambert8603 i agree they are great tyres but the ones you get from new on the bike are a lesser spec than the ones you buy as a 2nd pair. Thats my point. It should be in the tyre manufacturer s interest to put there best spec tyre on so you end up loving it and useing them for ever. Rather than the lower spec and you not having full confidence in them and going to another manufacturer. 😀
After the recent news of Ducati bring out the final superquadro engine in the V2, and with Yamaha discontinuing the R1 and only track going bikes only for the foreseeable future. What does this mean for the sports bike market? Will all manufacturers follow after 2027 as the regulations are set to change in MotoGP, and they won’t want Superbikes setting faster lap times than MotoGP. Will the new Superbikes be more like what we had in the 90’s. Like the zx7r, 998, R9, gsxr 750?
Regarding reluctance to comment on the appearance of a bike: viewers can see the bike and form their own opinions; the gap the road tester fills is that they actually get to ride the bike, and therefore their efforts are better spent relaying their opinions in that regard.
Hi Neevesy, Question; you've mentioned in a couple videos now that during some test rides manufacturers fly both reviewers and youtubers out for new bike launches. My question is there ever any animosity between the traditional written reviewers vs the UA-camr/Social Media type of reporters? Or rather the reporters who come from more established outlets vs Independents ones? Or is it all generally friendly? Full Disclosure: I'm an up and coming motorcycle content creator so I am asking this as I'm wondering if that's a hurdle I'll have to deal with some day. Thanks for the videos, -AJ

My z900 came with Dunflop d214 tires. They were such crap I replaced them before 1500 miles with full tread. And I usually run beyond the wear marks. I will never by a Dunflop ever.
@@JAMESWUERTELE I read that the tires on my z900 were licensed by Dunlop to another manufacturer, not made by Dunlop themselves. But it doesn’t matter, those tires were crap and I have boycotted them. My Z would slip in a slow tight corner without even going fast or laying on throttle. Awful tires.
Hi Michael A tyre pressure question. On cars, manufacturers suggest various pressures based on load and speed. On my MT09SP there is only 1 pressure which I assume is max load & speed. If you are riding alone on the road on 17" wheels on sport touring tyres, what pressures do you use front & back? John
Hi Neevesy, thanks for all your content. Glad you're enjoying the GSX-R, looks great! Question, as a follicly challenged, mid 40s fella myself, any advise on not looking like a Klingon when I take off my helmet after a ride? I've had the Shoei PFS and my lid fits really well but leaves huge marks on my head and forehead which last all day. Thanks, Steve
Hi Neevsey, great videos I am learning a lot watching them. I have a K5 GSXR750 which l use on track only recently I have fitted Super Corsa SP tyres after you raved about them. At Cadwell last week I was finding it hard to get the bike to corner like I had before and I noticed the new rear was a 60 profile instead of a 55 I had before should this really make a difference to how the bike performs. I am not the fastest but I can get about fairly well considering I am 70 next Jan. Would I be better to go back to a 55 profile tyre. Thanks
Another interesting video. Always wondered what happened to the journo demo bikes. Getting Power 6 on my SV for Whitham school later this month. I ride bike on road and at trackdays. Is it worth getting a second set of wheels, road / track tyres, or is that for the professionals only?
hey thanks for the awesome videos. Question, do you think we have reached the end of ICE technology for motorcycles? New bikes these days always have some fancy new rider aid tech but the engines just seem to be the same old thing for the last decade or so.
What is your opinion on special edition bikes - SPs, Ss, Rs. Are they worth the extra money, or should you buy a standard version and get aftermarket suspension tailored to your weight and riding style?
Hey Neevesy. Cheers for all the videos and sharing of knowledge and experience. Would love to get your thoughts on switching to a 1000 for track riding. I have been riding a 600 sports bike for a number of years and feel like I'm getting to the stage where I don't always want to be chasing the redline and trying to carry high corner speed. Can a 1000 be enjoyable riding at an intermediate level on track? (Not necessarily a latest generation superbike with 200+ bhp, I'm thinking 150-160 would be the sweet spot).
Love this channel, can i ask you whats youre opinion on the latest air bag jackets for bikes? Apparently they offer great protection for youre chest, spleen, ribs etc, Thanks in advance.
My SX 1000 kawasaki had Bridgestone 😮 absolute rubbish , felt dangerous on times slip and skip on the slightest change in road surface, changed to Michelin Road 5s last set i had just over 9000 miles on a set 😊
Have you heard anything about the Yamaha SP range in relation to why the 09 now gets better spec brakes and keyless ignition than the range topping 10, and do you think the 10 will get these updates? Many thanks
Don’t you just love the money making speed awareness course . I was on a empty motorway apart from 3 cars stamping on brakes then speeding in between smart cameras is was boxed in . So make a bit of safety space then got a speeding ticket 79mph on motorway. Mmm 🤔 the backwards modern world .
i never knew this about oem tires , so i got a 1 week old aprilia tuono , tires are pireli diablo sc sp . no number afer that and i couldnbt find them in shops . does this mean i better replace them for my first trackday or will they be fine ?
First I value reports from average Europeans in terms of weight and length, like Neevesy because I am too. There is no point in listening to a150 kg bloke in ugly flashy leathers doing wheelies all day every day because I don't do wheelies all day every day and I'm not 150kg. Second don't over think it, it's just biking not rocket science.
@bobbyclark7423 unfortunately, it's more than just tires. Sometimes it's engine oil, parts on the bike etc. Basically anything the manufacturer can get a bulk deal on they go with. Some examples; I purchased an 17k new Thruxton rs, my wife bought a 2019 ST900, the Thruxton came with no radiator guard (as 3 years ago Triumph decided to cheap out on a few extra to save coin). Also the thruxton has PRS16 front brake master cylinder which is not great for the back and should have been the 18 version. The bike runs cooler and quiet with motul oil vs the castrol triumph puts in it from factory. I could keep going.
I think the question regarding "subjective" was a little too clever, and a whole lot of semantics. While suspension , frame geometry etc. might be subjective within a certain range of adjustment - a poor or badly adjusted suspension, and poor 'handling dynamics can hurt you badly - physics is not subjective (unless the fact I'm calling it non-subjective is subjective yadda yadda). OTOH - no matter how bad the paint, or poor the proportions, they won't kill you (apart from spiritually).
"physics is not subjective (unless the fact I'm calling it non-subjective is subjective yadda yadda)" ??? While the physics of a motorcycle may not be "subjective" in and of itself, how it's experienced by the individual certainly is. Do you understand? "I think the question regarding "subjective" was a little too clever, and a whole lot of semantics." (sic) It's like you have no sense of irony. lol

I'm with you, absolutely doesn't make sense. Why throw your name away rather than get someone to keep using the one ot came with the bike.
A) matching the budget
B) meeting EUDSSR noise/consumption requirements

Hello Mr Neaves,
I want to ask a question about an issue never discussed in any issue of MCN, any bike meet I have ever attended nor any online video ever made.
Guys packing heat
Great review as always so much specialist information and detail as everyone else says please may it all continue !, my question is just purchased a new 24 S1000 XR and the tyres it came on were as you said the old model S22 battlax disappointed they were not S23 what tyres would you put on I am not going to the track just a bit of touring and day out road riding thanks Ash
Hope your well mate 👍🏽😎, and hope your enjoying your recently re built 750 👍🏽😎🏍🌞 praying for some nice weather for you ! Always great episodes to chill out to , thank you ! 😎🏍
F the complainers. Throwing the Duc and Striple in with more traditional middleweight sportbikes.made for a brilliant comparison video. Thanks for doing it. Now that Duran Duran shirt, we gotta talk about...
What is your take on super nakeds on track? I was under the impression that they might put more emphasis on having fun rather than chasing tenths, all in a more comfortable fashion? Seriously considering that 1390 super duke r for track shenanigans...
QUESTION - if you had £5k to spend on a NEW bike, what would you choose? I'm currently prevaricating between a Speed 400 and a CF Moto 700 clx Sport, but worried about lack of power with the first option and reliability/ long-term support on the second!
Great stuff. 👍
Regarding the question on press bikes there is a triumph dealership in North Wales who has been stuck with some RR since they came out about 5 or 6 of them and can't get rid of them
Not sure if this is where you submit the questions but…
My Arai Astro R is long overdue replacement, the fact it’s still plush and refined after 19yrs makes it even harder to consider changing brands!
Yamaha Niken is transformed with new rubber. Diablo Rosso fronts with roadtec 01 se rear. Turns out the originals were made of wood !
@@thecornishbiker9323 some Bikes are getting Michelin Road 5 Tyres from New
Great Rubber in wet in or Dry
Regarding reluctance to comment on the appearance of a bike: viewers can see the bike and form their own opinions; the gap the road tester fills is that they actually get to ride the bike, and therefore their efforts are better spent relaying their opinions in that regard.
like the edits!
Hi Neevesy,
Question; you've mentioned in a couple videos now that during some test rides manufacturers fly both reviewers and youtubers out for new bike launches.
Thanks for the videos,

My z900 came with Dunflop d214 tires. They were such crap I replaced them before 1500 miles with full tread. And I usually run beyond the wear marks. I will never by a Dunflop ever.
Most of my Hondas came with Dunlops. They are absolute garbage. I never felt comfortable on them, and I could never become one with the bike.
Dunlop are very good tyres.
Hi Michael
A tyre pressure question.
In a country with average speed cameras cruise control must surely be a huge deal.
What is your opinion on special edition bikes - SPs, Ss, Rs. Are they worth the extra money, or should you buy a standard version and get aftermarket suspension tailored to your weight and riding style?
Do we have to have so much racing related questions, so few bikes actually ride a bike on track.
What about rs660 ?
Have you heard anything about the Yamaha SP range in relation to why the 09 now gets better spec brakes and keyless ignition than the range topping 10, and do you think the 10 will get these updates?
Many thanks
Not heard anything, but it was high time the MT-10SP was updated!
👍
The new GSA. Piles and piles of ‘em stacked up all around it…🥴
Don’t you just love the money making speed awareness course .
I was on a empty motorway apart from 3 cars stamping on brakes then speeding in between smart cameras is was boxed in . So make a bit of safety space then got a speeding ticket 79mph on motorway. Mmm 🤔 the backwards modern world .
How and where do I send a question to Neevesy?

i never knew this about oem tires , so i got a 1 week old aprilia tuono , tires are pireli diablo sc sp . no number afer that and i couldnbt find them in shops . does this mean i better replace them for my first trackday or will they be fine ?
They'll be fine. We've had no problems with OE Super Corsas. Enjoy!

Roughly speaking… how many motorcycles have you ridden over your lifetime?
Please please tell me now... What bike will benefit?
First I value reports from average Europeans in terms of weight and length, like Neevesy because I am too. There is no point in listening to a150 kg bloke in ugly flashy leathers doing wheelies all day every day because I don't do wheelies all day every day and I'm not 150kg. Second don't over think it, it's just biking not rocket science.
Thats a joke about the tyres on new bikes, not nice knowing you have a sub standard tyre under you which you dont have a clue about.
"I think the question regarding "subjective" was a little too clever, and a whole lot of semantics." (sic)
