Put the nozzle end of the piping bag into a drinking glass fold the bag over the edges of the glass so it holds the piping bag open for you. Scoop whatever ingredient you're using into the piping bag. Take the piping bag out of a cup and then twist the top of the bag. This helps you to not overfill and to not make a mess.
Put your piping bag in a tall big and then fold the bag over the sides of the glass. Fill the filling or whatever up to a little less than the top of the glass. Fold the bag over and then tie it with a rubber band
I'm not a professional baker but it is my hobby, maybe next time fold over the edges of the piping bag to keep the edges clean and don't fill it so much? Love your baking videos they always make me smile 💖
I think the baking videos are becoming my favorite. Almost entirely because I use to work as a pastry cook, and the only difference between what Jim is doing and what most pastry cooks do, is act like they know what they're doing; otherwise the results are pretty much the same. Good job Jim!
Jim, if you fold down the end of the piping bag and then put the dough in then you can unfold it and twist it (I put an elastic band on the end to make sure it stays)
I am not an expert but I do enjoy baking, one tip would be to put the pipping bag in a jug and then fold the ends of the pipping bag over the jug which makes less mess. Love your video :)
I love the enthusiasm.. I would recommend though reading thru the instructions fully and collecting all of the needed tools prior to starting, this will help relieve extra issues. Great job Jim!..
You make me feel better about my lack of baking skills. I did the exact same thing with the piping bags (coming out the top) and my constant questions about how it's all supposed to look :)
for filling a piping bag you can put it in a glass and fold the edge over the rim, also yes it's a chouxpastry. btw i'm 14 and used a piping bag only once in my life( and made strawberie rings with choux pastry) but love baking videos
Tip for filling up a piping bag, place the empty piping bad (with nozzle) into a glass (pint glass might be easier) and fold end over glass, fill then unfold and remove from glass. Have watched your earlier baking videos but not so recent as been busy with uni work and think that you have progressed a lot with your baking skills.
Jim! A piping tip I learned on UA-cam: Place your empty piping bag (with nozzle) into a tall glass and fold the edges of the bag over the glass. Then spoon your mixture into the bag. Then you'll have some edges left of the bag to twist off. Makes it so much easier! Looks yummy.
Jim next time you use a piping bag fold the ends over as you put stuff in and then unfold it and you won't get it everywhere 😂 I learnt from my mistakes 😂 Well done though 👍🏻
To help you get less messy when u pipe fold over the top of the piping bag then fill then fold edges back up👍🏻 you can also put it in a cup to use two hands :) love your cooking videos soooo muxch!
If you find it hard to get the baking mixture into a piping bag ,try placing the piping bag in a tall glass and folding the edges around the glass. ( little bit like lining a rubbish bin 😜) Great work.Thanx for cheering me up😃
I made profiteroles in cooking on Friday and I know how hard they are to make. I only had an hour to make them and somehow I did even though I can't cook to save my life once I managed to burn water to the bottom of a pan. Well done Jim you did good 👍🏼👍🏼
You could always use a tall glass cup to help keep filling a piping bag clean. Just stick the bag inside the cup, use your hand to open it, and roll the ends of the piping bag, where you fill it, over the sides of the rim. Keeps the cup clean, and hands mess free.
Jim, I don't care what those pros say, I love watching you bake. It's very entertaining ;) I have a tip for when you want to fill the piping bag without making a mess. Get a tall glass or jug and put your piping bag in it and then fold over about an inch or so of the bag over the rim of the glass. Then fill it up and leave a few inches of space at the top. Then take it out of the glass, give it a little shake and twist the top.
PIPING PROTIP: open up the piping bag half to one-third of the way down and place the piping bag in a cup or vase. works wonders if you're working alone
To make to make it easier for yourself Jim (never actually piped anything but I know for sure this works) if you place your piping bag in a glass, nozzle facing downwards, and pull the sides of the bag, sticking up, down and wrap it around the glass then you can spoon in your mixture and bring the sides back up the glass and use a small elastic band or even a hair tie around the top it means the mixture won't run out the top and it's much less messy. Hopes this helps anyone who is bothered to read this ❤️ if I'm even making any sense 😂😘
I really enjoyed this video but what I learned from piping icing etc is to fold the sides down fill it up with say dough for example and then roll the sides back up :)
Tip for you Jim. Put your piping bag in a glass and then fill it, its so much easier, and that way you can't' overfill it either. Amazing effort for your fist time. I know chefs who still can't get choux pastry right! Love your videos :)
hey jim!! for an easier piping experience 😂 put the piping bag in a tall or regular cup and fold the excess bag over the cup & then put the filling inside the piping bag .... it helps 👍
Tip: Put the piping bag into a long glass and let the rest of the piping bag to fold/droop over the side of the glass. Then you should carefully spoon the mixture into the bag.
If you roll down the sides of your piping bag before you fill it and then afterwards roll the sides up again you will avoid getting dough on the top parts which is what make is messy haha❤️ great job Jim😚 love from Denmark🇩🇰
Hey Jim, I love your videos and I think you're amazing person. Whenever I watch you, I always smile and instantly feel so much better! I hope you have a great day xx Cem 😘☺️💕
Put the nozzle end of the piping bag into a drinking glass fold the bag over the edges of the glass so it holds the piping bag open for you. TØP!!
thats what im saying the whole time tho hahaha
XD Haha, it was so funny watching him making a mess. You could also fold the bag over a cup and just spoon the contents into the piping bag.
OMG Jim and Tan are totally relationship goals!
Put your piping bag in a tall big and then fold the bag over the sides of the glass. Fill the filling or whatever up to a little less than the top of the glass. Fold the bag over and then tie it with a rubber band
Glass
Sunny S. That's so helpful !! thank you !!
Jim having a go at his wifes book is the funnies
I'm not a professional baker but it is my hobby, maybe next time fold over the edges of the piping bag to keep the edges clean and don't fill it so much? Love your baking videos they always make me smile 💖
Jim, if you fold over the top of the piping bag it keeps the outside of the bag clean and just all around makes it easier to put stuff in.
I think the baking videos are becoming my favorite. Almost entirely because I use to work as a pastry cook, and the only difference between what Jim is doing and what most pastry cooks do, is act like they know what they're doing; otherwise the results are pretty much the same. Good job Jim!
This video is everything I love about Jim
I love how there is no intro, no faffing around, just like the ingredients are.......😂😂😜
Jim, if you fold down the end of the piping bag and then put the dough in then you can unfold it and twist it (I put an elastic band on the end to make sure it stays)
Or use a washing peg
Why is Jim the most relatable person ever? 😂
british people are dying for these rn right?? . ME TOO😂✋
ikr lol, I'm British and love it, also much love from a British content creator on youtube
LifeAsCam do you literally reply to every single comment saying you're a UA-cam too? I mean that's dedication but what the heck it's annoying...
Violet Mae we have these in the US as well :)
I'm a baker and now that choux pastry is a pain in the backside at first, all in all a great result. Thanks for the awesome video!
Anyone else drooled over the thumbnail? I did
def did // ❤
omg it a fudging bain marie!!! -quote from dan howell.
I am not an expert but I do enjoy baking, one tip would be to put the pipping bag in a jug and then fold the ends of the pipping bag over the jug which makes less mess. Love your video :)
"I need to get to dropping consistency and at the minute this is more like throwing consistency" made me crack up 😂
I love the enthusiasm.. I would recommend though reading thru the instructions fully and collecting all of the needed tools prior to starting, this will help relieve extra issues. Great job Jim!..
jim is so relaxed and he just makes anything ordinary because of the openly inocent way he says things. ❤
Now I know why I BUY these. Seriously, Dude, respect. Choix pastry is probably the most complicated pastry to make and you did great.
For a first attempt, you should be very proud Sir Jim
This is the first baking video that has ever made me laugh out loud. Thanks for making my Monday a little better Jim 😄
You make me feel better about my lack of baking skills. I did the exact same thing with the piping bags (coming out the top) and my constant questions about how it's all supposed to look :)
'omg. I'm amazing!'

Your baking videos are my favorite things ever.

Let's just hope Jim doesn't quit youtube to be become a pastry chef
I need a boyfriend to bake for me 😂
HeyIts Yaz Or just anyone to bake for me 💁🏽😋
I find it so cute how he's using Tans recipe but then again, he is so confused and it is his own wife's recipe😂😂
I felt the same way the first time I made profiteroles! It's such an intimidating process, but worth it to see the pastry puff up. Good job, you!
These Baking with Jim videos are my favourite.

Jim protip to fill a piping bag it can be easier if u put it in a smallish jug and then the top of the bag can rap around the top of the jug a bit😀👍🤓🎂
I just love "Baking with Jim". I think they're my favourite video series ever :D
