Put the nozzle end of the piping bag into a drinking glass fold the bag over the edges of the glass so it holds the piping bag open for you. Scoop whatever ingredient you're using into the piping bag. Take the piping bag out of a cup and then twist the top of the bag. This helps you to not overfill and to not make a mess.

Jim, if you fold over the top of the piping bag it keeps the outside of the bag clean and just all around makes it easier to put stuff in.

I think the baking videos are becoming my favorite. Almost entirely because I use to work as a pastry cook, and the only difference between what Jim is doing and what most pastry cooks do, is act like they know what they're doing; otherwise the results are pretty much the same. Good job Jim!

Tip for filling up a piping bag, place the empty piping bad (with nozzle) into a glass (pint glass might be easier) and fold end over glass, fill then unfold and remove from glass. Have watched your earlier baking videos but not so recent as been busy with uni work and think that you have progressed a lot with your baking skills.

Jim! A piping tip I learned on UA-cam: Place your empty piping bag (with nozzle) into a tall glass and fold the edges of the bag over the glass. Then spoon your mixture into the bag. Then you'll have some edges left of the bag to twist off. Makes it so much easier! Looks yummy.

You could always use a tall glass cup to help keep filling a piping bag clean. Just stick the bag inside the cup, use your hand to open it, and roll the ends of the piping bag, where you fill it, over the sides of the rim. Keeps the cup clean, and hands mess free.

Jim, I don't care what those pros say, I love watching you bake. It's very entertaining ;) I have a tip for when you want to fill the piping bag without making a mess. Get a tall glass or jug and put your piping bag in it and then fold over about an inch or so of the bag over the rim of the glass. Then fill it up and leave a few inches of space at the top. Then take it out of the glass, give it a little shake and twist the top.

To make to make it easier for yourself Jim (never actually piped anything but I know for sure this works) if you place your piping bag in a glass, nozzle facing downwards, and pull the sides of the bag, sticking up, down and wrap it around the glass then you can spoon in your mixture and bring the sides back up the glass and use a small elastic band or even a hair tie around the top it means the mixture won't run out the top and it's much less messy. Hopes this helps anyone who is bothered to read this ❤️ if I'm even making any sense 😂😘
