  • Here is my first experiment using Letraset and oil pastel as a resist for Gelli plate transfers. I liked magazine photo and text transfer but really want to transfer my own drawings, so these techniques are what I worked out by playing around. If you know of any, please suggest some other drawing transfer techniques in comments section. I'm going to try a Chinograph pencil next.

    Fantastic print, thanks for sharing your process. I’ve done wax crayon resist prints before, but it looks like you can get a more solid and defined look with oil pastels. Excellent use of Lettraset, too. I used to work in the design industry, so I’m sure I’ve got some of that somewhere. You share so many great ideas - I don’t know where I want to start first! 😊

    Must try this method of image transfer as it is a stunning effect especially since it can be used many times perhaps with various colours. I have had good results with waterproof tissue (bought online) with glossy mag transfer which gives a ghost like effect. It is much stronger than tissue. If it is of interest there are recipes for making your own gelli plate with gelatine and glycerine (much cheaper). These give really good effects too and when they get too loaded with paint or indentations just cut up with scissors and melt down in a saucepan on low heat, strain into a baking sheet approximately 1 inch deep. The gelatin and glycerin are cheaper online than in supermarkets fyi. I have one approx 15 x11 inches. I love your youtubes. More please.

      @yeatesmakes  3 роки тому

      Hi Judy, I'm just starting to look into printing on to tissue paper. Am a bit worried my tissue isn't up to it so I'll order some better quality stuff. I'll look into making my own plate too. Up to now, I've found working on a 6 inch square forces my thinking and problem solving. However, I've got a handle on some techniques now and a bigger plate would spring more possibilities...

    Love this! As you started I found myself thinking “that’s a lot of work for one print” and then you answered my question and did it over and over! I’m so surprise that it worked again. Would be great to do maybe a progression of 4 with different colour backgrounds and put them all together in a frame ☺️
