thank you for giving a face and a voice to an area we didn't see on the news. I pray for the people in the area you highlighted, I hope they get the help and resources they need.
My heart breaks for all of the home owners and businesses. We were just there in Sept this year. This us just horrible! I will continue to pray for all of you.
Absolutely really fun days in Daytona, from spring back in the early 80's, taking family vacations, and just appreciating the good times there. I hope some how some way, nature will restore, and the greed of humans will wisely reconsider how to appreciate our beauty.
Thank you for doing this. This is my Hometown I left Daytona to go to college in 1993.I never move back to live there but I have visited there many many times over the years. I feel something has to give people must join together work together to solve these kind of problems.I miss my Hometown, And feel for those who have lost almost everything.
I think this damage is catastrophic, meaning that this will take decades to repair and what a lot of news is not saying is that this area is forever changed and these structures are no longer viable. Thanks for showing the old footage of where the beach was before and it is clear how much higher the water comes up now.
It’s absolutely heartbreaking seeing this… and unacceptable that none of the media has shed light on the situation, so thank you for getting this out there!
Good job. Appreciate the work you did integrating all the footage from different times. Also the fact that you did not just limit this to the beach but went into the neighborhoods to show the impact there. Keep up the good work.
This is winter in Florida. Many tourists spots close during this time. The beach comes and goes. The cities restore the erosion in these communities. Don't believe everything you see on UA-cam. I live in Melbourne and our beach is great. Also check out Titusville and Cocoa Beach for off season vacations.
This video isn't about the beach being busy. It's about the damage what both storms has done to the beach. How can you not believe it when I'm looking right at it. If you can't see how that beach looks, you must be blind. Daytona Beach has never looked like this. The water has never came so this close to the shore. 🙄🙄🙄
I am from Atlantic City. I moved away in 1994. I went back in 2003 I took my kids to a magic show in a casino. When we walked up onto the boardwalk I was actually alarmed at how much of the beach was gone. I remember thinking it won't be long till the boardwalk is history
I moved there not to long ago & liked it at first, but then I realized how city like it felt & how many crazy’s were on the streets. The only thing keeping me sane was the beach! Now that it’s gone, i decided to move:/ have to find a new beach🎉
Daytona Beach is the only beach I know of that allow you to drive your car along the beach. This breaks my heart ❤️. Sending my thoughts and thoughts to you all in Daytona Beach.
The beach will get new sand, Daytona beach is back up and running just fine, race fans, bikeweek, spring break all still happening. The weather is amazing most of winter here as well. TJ we need the tourists so stop with the destruction stuff please.

There was some flooding, and the power was out for a few days for some people. Most businesses were up and running again a few days after the storm. The water park opened up about 3 weeks later. lost a few businesses. Going to miss that beach though.

The beachfront you showed was at what tide level? I still see cars driving up and down the beach at normal and low tide. They've always closed the beach to driving at high tide and at night.
What happened to Daytona Beach? Ian and Nicole came in like Bonnie and Clyde and stole our sand lol. It's sad but I saw it all first hand. I live here and work beachside. One day it was there then it was gone. After that we started losing the beach walls and so.e of the properties. Not sure what we'll do other than eventually pulling the properties back or just flat out losing some. Can't put the sand back obviously.
@@TIMJMEANSBUSINESS you are 😁 welcome. It's been tough since but smiling and laughing is the only way to have strength to go forward after the hurricanes. It's all we can really do. Things have been opened back up but it isn't the same as before.

Thank You! Please come up to Flagler Beach!!!!!! The erosion is so bad the ocean literally took bites out of A1A North!!! For about 18 miles, 2-3ft from the edge of A1A N there is a straight drop off ranging anywhere from 4-10ft!!!!!! We have CLIFFS, not a beach!!! And the really scary part- only 6yrs ago, that same lane was A1A SOUTH😱😱 True story! In 6 short yrs we’ve lost no less than 10ft of land aka asphalt. What we’ve lost in beach is farrrrrr worse. And STILL in the news today… they’re going to proceed w the groundbreaking just over the bridge to the mainland for a Margaritaville Hotel😡😳😱 Someone might want to address the stench after the flooding at the base of the mainland bridge first🙄. Of course, NOT the main issue. There are SERIOUS issues here!!! Why are you inviting more traffic & more ppl when it may not be safe for them, your residents, & your environment??? Oh yeah… cha-Ching. What in the world is going on?? Meanwhile, similar to what you’ve revealed, communities like Astor etc and along the St John’s River are flooding over & over & over again. They claimed A1A was ‘repaired’ in about 72hrs. Same in Ormond by the Sea where smaller parts of northbound were washed away. Seriously? Lipstick on a pig. Repeated road shutdowns over and over again to repair the repairs🙄 Electricity, cell service, WiFi, water, etc- anyone’s guess on any given day. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Main three reasons why this is happening: 1: Daytona makes money seasonally. Especially they make money between Spring, until the end of Summer, but when that ends up happening, it's only because the snow bunnies show up, and they want to come here to escape the cold. 2: The hurricanes that came up as of recent in the last season, really fucked a lot of what Daytona had, but it's not just Daytona, it's happened to other towns, and other cities across Florida. It's not like they can't fix it, it's just going to take them a couple of years for the to fix it. 3: This has been a thing for decades, but it has to do with the fact that, people just don't care about Daytona Beach itself. From the Politicians, to the people themselves, to the fact that for years, and I've seen this first hand living near here that, the people that, whether they're from the north or here, are just disgusting, and they do shit that is just not right. In the end of the day, don't really feel bad for the fact that this is happening over here, it'll get fixed in due time, that wont be a problem, but in the end of the day, just focus on yourself, focus on what you want to do in the meantime. In 2-5 years, it'll all be fine.
@@TIMJMEANSBUSINESS You're welcome man, and I don't mean snow bunnies in a bad way, I just know that how some northerners are referred to as when they come over for spring break, and it's funny I say that since I'm from the north too, but I've been living in the south for longer than I've lived in the north. When we get a lot of spring breakers having shit ton of fun, and the money starts coming right through, that'll probably get fixed a lot faster than people would think anyways.
I think some of this has been renovated and some are selling and renting because I’ve seen a lot on realtor app this is sad I love Daytona summer 2022 was so beautiful May the lord bless Daytona and many other cities that suffered May it be restored ! And May it become a blessing to many become affordable and beautiful for all of us that could never afford to live such beautiful places May god move the ocean to Better it for enjoyment of his creation lord bring back the beautiful in these beaches so we may enjoy life because this world is to stressful universe you have heard it all seen it all
⚔️ Life can be very surprising sometimes. As all of this was going on around us we stayed up all night with the door wide open watching the storm. We never lost power and no flooding whatsoever. Here's the surprising part, all the water you see in this video was only a few blocks away from us. Stay on the main roads and you could get around town, but taking a side road would lead you into a disaster area almost immediately. People were parking their cars on the side of a four lane road here because they couldn't drive into their communities. The main roads are high and dry but almost everywhere else the landscape is much lower like the communities you see here. My choice for a home in Florida would be one of the old Jim Walters stilt homes. They were built high off the ground leaving the bottom floor completely open for the home owner to do whatever he wanted to with it. May God Bless All 🙏
Always figured the California will fall into the ocean now it makes you realize that maybe it's not California maybe it is Florida maybe it is who knows weather crazy
Hallandale beach Florida and Hollywood Beach Florida is way better than this place just two beautiful beaches that got more restaurants, bars, lounges, clubs and growing businesses and communities.

Thanks for all the info.
Just move everything back 20 feet. Easy solution. Duuu

May God Bless All 🙏
Thanks for sharing that.
It’s going to be another couple years before it’s nice again

You can not drive on Daytona Beach anymore. Daytona Beach has never looked like this. The water has never came so this close to the shore. 🙄
Money of these should have been built on ground leve. Everything should start on the second floor

Hallandale beach Florida and Hollywood Beach Florida is way better than this place just two beautiful beaches that got more restaurants, bars, lounges, clubs and growing businesses and communities.
Of course I been to both. But Daytona use to be banging years ago. When I was a teen, Spring Break Daytona was Lit.
