Michael Jackson fan here, this is amazing. I love your podcast, thank you for celebrating him. HIStory is a masterpiece and it's cultural importance and message deserve recognition just like Thriller and Bad recieve.
Thank you so much for listening to the show and watching the video! I couldn't agree more about this album, obviously. We'll have a new video every Thursday and they're going to be very diverse but it's all for the love of music. We'll have more Michael related videos going forward too :)
I literally love all Michael's albums and songs, EVERY ONE OF THEM. Including those unreleased and demos. Such a legend and angel.
What did you think of my ranking?
I salute you big time for this find! When I went to the music store for the HIStory album's release date way back then, I planned to pick up a copy each in CD format (to listen at home) and on cassette (the sound system in my car back then had a cassette player; I didn't want to make a "pirate" copy, even for personal use). When a store associate showed me it was on vinyl as well, it was a complete shocker to me, because I thought vinyl was completely phased out. So I grabbed it, too.
Oh, and might I add... I've never removed the shrink wrap from the vinyl set. NEVER been opened.
That's great that you've had it for that long! Some people are surprised that I opened mine, but I listen to it quite a bit and never plan to sell it, so I'm cool with opening it :)
This is a really awesome channel. It's so nice for me, after compulsively watching all the nastiness and injustice that great man endured, to celebrate and enjoy his amazing genius!
We're glad you like the channel! We have quite a few Michael Jackson related videos on the channel as well as a ton of other music related videos. We always keep out videos positive. There's not one video of a negative nature on our channel. We feel like there's enough negative out there, so we try to put as much positive out as we can :)
Michael Jackson fan here, I do remember going to my hometown and there was a History original vinyl there unopened for like $150, So rare! History is definitely underrated, sometimes I wish he would’ve released the new material (the second album) from the History album on a separate album instead of in a 2 disc conjoined album . A lot of people get confused and don’t know there’s new material on it . Loved your video !
Thanks for watching and the compliment :) we have a LOT more rare and special vinyl videos coming.
I totally agree about wishing it was a separate release. I really think more people would've known the great music on Continues if it had been released as a stand alone album.
Thank you so much. Nice video. Big MJ fan here, and I agree, History album was such a bold album by MJ and so personal to him. He
was so brave, one of the many reasons I admire him. The History booklet looked so good, I wish I had it. I've listened to a couple of your podcasts and I love them. Will be listening to some more soon.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and you're enjoying the podcast! :)
I found myself nodding throughout the video! Having read Pez Jax’s book on it recently I appreciate the album even more!
That's great to hear. I know I said all of this in the video, but it's just such an underrated album.
It really is my favorite of all of his albums. I regularly play it for friends. They always know Scream and most know They Don't Care About Us but as soon as Stranger In Moscow hits, nearly everyone loves the song and are surprised that they've never heard it.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast That’s one of my absolute favorites, you can simply feel the loneliness in your soul
@@chrisgoossens12 totally agree. Side note, check out some of our other videos of you have a chance. If you look at the video with a tour of our place, you'll see a lot of my Michael memorabilia among everything we have :)
I'm not a huge MJ fan. So that's my excuse for not knowing this wasn't a straight up greatest hits. I'm definitely gonna check out the new material on the second half.
There's a surprisingly large amount of people who don't know there's a whole album of new material in this release.
The new material starts with the track "Scream" and goes through "Smile".
It's some of the best, most personal work Michael Jackson ever did, in my opinion.
I have the CD and the booklet is just as comprehensive in miniature. Not played it in a long time, so I may have to have a refresher. My first ever record was Dangerous, so I started my musical journey with his later stuff!
I actually have a copy on cassette too but that's still sealed because it was a gift. It's in a long box though, almost like CDs used to come in. So I assume some form of the booklet is in there too.
I LOVE your appreciation of the HIStory album, it's underrated for some reason.
In a perfect world, Tabloid Junkie and D.S. would be as popular as Billie Jean or Thriller.
Glad to hear you like our take on HIStory. We actually have THREE videos on Michael Jackson coming to the channel next week, including another one about the HIStory vinyl album :)
Absolutely brilliant video.
Thank you. We've got more than a few Michael Jackson videos on the channel. We're very big fans of his :)
That is a well presented boxset despite using the same centre image on all the LP’s. I’m not familiar with Jackson’s deep cuts, but I’m going to dive into the second half of this record and give it a bash!
Totally agree on the presentation. The center image is a minor gripe, really. The biggest problem is not being able to tell which side is which.
Having said that, I'm glad to hear you're gonna look into the material on the later half of the album. It's really underrated in my opinion.
Great video. Perfectly articulated.
Thanks!
I'm a big JACKSONS family fan love that family so much thank you for sharing this video 😀💞💐🌻
You're welcome. I've got an interview with Taj on the channel as well as a few other MJ related videos and more on the way :)
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast wow looking for it 😀💞 I did hear the interview with Taj Jackson amazing
We did a review of the Invincible album on the podcast too. . That audio isn't on the UA-cam channel yet, but you can find it on any podcast platform :)
Thx posting sharing
LOVED this video ❤❤❤❤
Glad to hear that. We love and support Michael Jackson! We've got a lot of other MJ related videos on the channel and another one coming in a few weeks :)
Wow.....NOT FAIR!!! 😳
I'm confused. What's not fair?
recently picked this up packaged with another record for 200 on craigslist. ridiculous good deal. nearly crapped my pants when i saw the listing
Oh wow, yeah that is a GREAT deal! Glad you got it for such a great price :)
Instead of writing which side of the Vinyl is which you could have put a small sticker on the label. (One that isn’t to strong and doesn’t destroy the label)
But i know its your own collection to enjoy so its alright. 😂👍🏻
We have another video about HIStory on vinyl coming to the channel very, very soon :)
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast Great! I have been looking a long time for this album on vinyl. Cant seem to find one. Im getting obsessed by it tbh…
Hi from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
Girlfriend has the michael jackson history picture pressings dosent have the first one
Hello!
This is one of my favourite all time records!! He really puts his heart on the line but shows how big his balls are too (just listen to Tom Sneddon, I mean “D.S.” 😆). Love, love, love this album 💿❤️
I have another video on the channel where I count down my Top 5 MJ Albums and HIStory is in there of course. Our interview with Taj Jackson is on the channel too and we've got more Michaal videos on the way soon :)
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast got the Taj one in my Watch Later playlist. Will have a look for the other post too & subscribe to podcast. Need something new to listen to on the drive to work 💿🤘🏼
Awesome, thanks so much. We cover a LOT of different genres on the vinyl channel and the podcast so there's probably a lot of stuff that might interest you. We always try to keep things positive and fun no matter what we're covering.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast yes! Looking forward to listening to the MMLP review - one of my favourite albums too (definitely Eminem’s best IMO).
Niceee!!! ❤
It really is a nice set. The sound isn't anywhere near as big of an issue as I'd heard about.
So, I have two of these; one sealed and one opened. I've been trying to find a frame for the sealed one but because it's so much bigger a package than a typical 12x12 (this one is like 12.9"x12.9"x.7"), I couldn't find any record frames that could fit the album. Anyone know of one that can?
That's a tough one because of how unique the box is. This is just a suggestion, but I'd look for a shadowbox perhaps. I bet a craft store would have a shadowbox that would fit it.
I’m looking to buy a copy. Do think it’d be risky buying a sealed copy off discogs? I’m concerned that the records could be warped unknowingly. If there’s an open copy where the vinyl can be verified as flat, maybe that’d be the way to go. What do you think?
With the way its packaged, a sealed copy should be fine. I bought this copy sealed about 10 years ago and the records were perfectly flat.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast thanks for sharing your experience of the LP. This would be a grail for my collection. I agree with you that this was his greatest work. Thanks for your video on it too.
You're welcome, thank you for watching :)
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast I ended buying a copy. Do you know of a store that sells a sleeve that will fit a box set of this size?
I just went on Amazon and kept searching around until I found sleeves that would fit it. The height and width is the standard 12" size, but the depth is about an inch deep. So I just searched Amazon until I found something that would fit it.
