If Wemby is willing to work and willing to be better and be a good teammate, Pop and the Holt family will give him the support and protection from the media he needs to be the absolutely best version of himself as a player.

I’m french and I can tell the following:
Wemby is workaholic, focused and dedicated to improving his game, hungry to learn new things. And he is also team spirited, not selfish at all.
So I think he is also a good fit for Pop.

@OneIssueVoter Fortunately YOU ARE NOT HIM and if you were you would be one sorry human being. He knows what he is getting into. And he will not be alone....this city will embrace him without clinging to him. We have proved that over the years and we will do so.
And Pop is not going anywhere soon.....and if he does we can and will find a very good replacement. BTW Pop can adapt -we were tanking last year to get this guy.
BTW he don't have the option to refuse.

Though this is correct analysis of the spurs it isnt for wemby 👀. He WANTS media attention to a degree that maybe hasnt been seen at that position since shaq. He is doing good morning America interviews , espn interview with windhorstbliterally right after the lottery was announced , doing a podcast with jj . He not only loves the attention but he is so incredibly articulate and the depth to his responses shows the spurs will never have to shield him from anything . Wemby is duncan 2.0 in terms of his willingness and desire to be coached hard , and his work ethic and pursuit of greatness, but the way he relishes the spot light is something i dont think has existed in San Antonio ( or many other places either for the record ) .

Tony Parker owns ASVEL which is his former team. Boris Diaw is an executive of Metropolitans 92 his current team so the Spurs connections keep going. And that “international competition” in August is the FIBA World Cup. Jesus Christ these guys.

For all the excitement the guys are talking about, remember the Spurs are notoriously lowkey with its players. How many times did you ever see Spurs in commercials outside of regional H-E-B commercials? Coach Pop isn't going to want him distracted by the attention.
Outside of Tim's first couple years in the league, how often was TD in commercial campaigns? Rarely if ever. Wemby will be encouraged to do the same. There's going to be a behind the scene tug of war between the league and the Spurs.

He is about to sign a $100 Million Dollar shoe deal with Nike…. And this thinking is exactly how we lost Kawhi. So I think the spurs understand that we should embrace the national spotlight with Wemby.
We are now one of the biggest markets with Austin, Mexico City and France added to our San Antonio Population.

If your team had gotten him would you be bitching, I live in San Antonio and many fans here did NOT think we were going to get him. Because we knew nothing was guaranteed-we had a bad team but there were teams just as bad-hell we were tied with two others for the rights to draft him
Here is a fact- it was 26 years since we got Duncan and Robinson was 12 years before that.
