Naturally, there are few things more important to Mr. Mantell, than talking about the dangers and consequences of DUI. Him going out of his way to include it in this podcast is really rare, and in a way a great sign for his improving health, as he thought, I can add a little more at the planned end of the recording!
@ to be honest, I’m just glad someone actually got the reference lol. But yes I agree with you. Just seeing the brain removed part made me think of the time Karl pitched the movie idea, with Rebecca De Mornay & “Clive Warren”. 😂
There’s very little surprise that Punk would tear down Rollins in a verbal sparing match. Jim Cornette made a statement once that still gets proven true over and over again: “People pay to see Randy Orton RKO people; not talk. People pay to hear Punk talk, more than they want to see him wrestle.”
we went to an indie wrestling show in PA years ago and we bought the VIP meet and greet package with Ric Flair. well, by the time we got into the building (long line) some dude came out and said Ric wasn't feeling well so he was canceling the remaining meet and greets. okay fine bummer i guess, but then he still came out at the beginning of the show and cut a half arsed promo and just generally looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. mind you, this was before he was hospitalized for almost dying so maybe he was legit under the weather but it really soured us on Flair.
Growing up I came to Love Flair. Twice he was scheduled AND advertised to wrestle at a house show in Springfield Illinois for both WCW and WWE (A few years apart.) and neither time was he there. At least WWE announced he wouldn't be there. So when I listen to him talk about how he 'never missed a show....twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday" blah blah blah The truth is he believed his own hype and has always considered himself better than everyone else. I just can't appreciate him much anymore. Sad.
To add a few dishonorable mentions to Meltzer's 2024 reporting: Meltzer said Dominic Mysterio needed surgery on (iirc) his shoulder. Dominic publicly replied on Twitter and said it wasn't true. Meltzer said the AEW fans in the arena were loudly chanting "Fuck CM Punk" after the Brawl In footage was played. This chant was not picked up by AEW during the episode and the fan footage that was supposed to support his claim had like 3 people chanting it and one of them was definitely holding the phone. Meltzer said R-Truth's segments weren't getting crowd reactions. They blatantly were.
What about this one I'm about to mention? Does it count or no? If you saw NXT heatwave, Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan battled for the NXT women's NA championship. It was a solid match but that wasn't the case to Meltzer who decided to be hypocritical. The match was Called a "gymnastics display disguised as a wrestling" match. This coming from a man who kisses up to the Bucks and Will Ospreay who've been doing gymnastics in their matches for years
Even tho I know it's "top 10 list" but still..... Only 10? Can make a list of Uncle Dave's top 100 and will still have countless left out that could also be considered top ones. 😆😆😆😆
Wow.. Was just wondering why no one ever mentions Sweet Daddy Siki who was a mainstay on Maple Leaf Wrestling in Toronto for the '70's ... He even had a country rock band playing at LOCAL BARS... ! Thanks
Tony is never EVER going to kick out any "journalist" asking questions like that while they are practically blowing him and his product, and trying to write off any negativity as "bad faith". Tony LOVES those guys and they're probably the first invited back.
Sorry but the song 'I'm so excited' just reminds me of a long time ago when a tv channel in the UK (can not remember which) had time to fill they ran sporting bloopers with that song playing.
I'm not sure what your actual complaint about the podcast is? I mostly find it interesting and entertaining, especially hearing Dutch tell stories about the old days, the territories, and the like. What do you recommend to stop making the content for marks?
Tony had some of the same fàcial tics going on like Vince did at some of the Slammy Awards in the 80's....I can't remember the beer company right off that had the "bitter beer face" commercials years ago, but they look a lot alike😂
A week after Ric’s retirement match with HBK an event was in my town.$120 for a meet and greet, pizza dinner, signed copy of Ric’s book and a replica belt. My son begged for that for his bday.$250 and he didn’t show.He claimed that Vince used his non compete clause.Bullshit because he did one the same day a few towns away.
Good to hear Dutch with strength back in his voice. James is remembering Roslyn Carter's funeral. All the presidents except Trump were there, but Melania Trump did attend. Jimmy Carter looked frightful at the end, I suspect out living his beloved wife by any length of time was probably not something he was planning on.
Talking of entrance music the opening theme to this podcast is so Dirty Dutch Mantell for me. I can imagine Dutch coming out to that music for a wrestling match. Has Dirty Dutch Mantell thought about suing WWE over the “Dirty” name since they use it for Dirty Dom Mysterio? Probably cost Dutch more money in lawyer fees to fight the WWE in court than he would get back from WWE
Sweet Daddy Siki was one of the last notable wrestling names from the 1950s still around. Could be wrong, but i think it’s just Cowboy Bob Ellis left from that first generation of tv wrestling.
10. getting born 9. surviving childhood without an education 8. thinking he could write 7. getting interested in wrestling 6. stealing the star ratings from weasel dooley and jim cornette 5. no 5 star kurt angle matches 4. starting a pod cast 3. getting on twitter 2. starting his newsletter 1. not finding another line of work that he is actually knowledgable about in order to have valid opinions regarding.
"Wh, wh, what do you mean I make things up ? I, i, you know, have decades in the business, uh, uh, my journalism is as credible and Im, Im, impeccable as North Korea's human rights."
Well it's maybe a stammer maybe autism maybe not. He never makes a point or maybe he does and double back on the point to offer an option that nullifies the original or does he
What were the details and year when this ordeal with Mr. Wrestling 2 happened? When JYD left fans were shocked and very angry at JYD. The next house shows in Mid-South were very different and very different mood of the fans.
Edge is being smart. WWE has 'Edge', so 'Adam Copeland' is his best way of earning money outside of the WWE and he needs to protect it from Tony's bad booking.
i just dont know if this will work with Jeff Jarrett trying to do his last ride to the title the same year cena is also doing the same thing. Trying to go head to head with the same or similar story is risky
A little off topic, why does AEW give its weekly shows a sub title like Dynamite: Revenge of the Fallen or Collision: Attack of the Farts? It is like they are naming versions of a video game.
Raw is netflix = garbage. I've been re-watching Raw & I'm on Nov in 1999 & guess what... over half the Raw episodes aren't even on Netflix yet. GET READY FOR MORE EDITING & ERASING OF HISTORY
If you’re in the US, no shit. The WWE’s rights deal with Peacock doesn’t end till next year, it’s convoluted, AEW doesn’t have all of their garbage on Max yet either, complain about that as well
TK pulling funny faces is way better than pouty thumbnail poses imo, also calling out someone who asked a question based over their appearance seems unnecessarily harsh, guy asked a question and gets criticised for being positive when why wouldn't he be? It's an aew platform to promote aew it would be like Stevie or Dutch saying why watch wsi because an interviewee said nothing of note or was overly positive about their place of work
@@ellemarr7234Yeah in the UK it probably works out better as it being on Netflix just makes it more accessible, it’s just the WWE network shutting down. So it’s just better value on Netflix. My main concern is that the WCW shows and other back catalogue stuff will be lost
@Shiny101 - I think they're referring to Carter's 100th birthday a few months back, although they've got the details slightly mixed up. They're correct that Carter was photographed outdoors at his hospice, in a wheelchair & surrounded by family members, and as Dutch so eloquently pointed out, Carter looked every bit of 100 years old & it was very clear that he didn't have much time left. Where Dutch & James got mixed up a bit, was that the other presidents weren't actually present - they (Clinton, Bush, Obama & Biden - not Trump) had filmed birthday greetings that were played for Carter.
Alfred Konuwa’s original video link - x.com/ThisIsNasty/status/1874123350278279600
Must have been tough picking only ten. So, so many to choose from pro wrestling's king of misinformation.
Same thought! Because must have done A LOT more F ups than just 10! 😂
Maybe there will be a top 10 (part 2)… with the amount of times Dave has screwed up, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a 100 part series. 😂
😊😊
@@boraonline7036 Yeah no kidding that's like picking the best 10 Queen songs......damn near impossible
Happy New Years Dutch & James 🎉 appreciate you fellas
Bout to listen in the 3rd shift grind. Have a great weekend everyone.
Thank you for the shout out!! And great pronunciation of "Konuwa"
Dutch: "And you're proud of that?"
James: "Yeah, why not."
:D
The hoodie Dutch is wearing looks like Freddy Krueger's sweater.
Man, Dutch is sounding good! Seems to have recovered well. He looked haggard on that first podcast back. Love Dutch.

THANK YOU James & Dutch! Best podcast out.
Thetime he actually reported (and believed) that Shibata got his brain removed and put back will forever take the cake
Maybe there’s truth to it only it was Dave’s brain that was removed and put back in?
I reckon he’s listened to Karl Pilkington a bit too much.
@@PlentyFromJuanSheetCome on, Pilkington is MEANT to be funny, Meltzer is just funny cuz of how bad his spelling and reporting are
@ to be honest, I’m just glad someone actually got the reference lol. But yes I agree with you.
Just seeing the brain removed part made me think of the time Karl pitched the movie idea, with Rebecca De Mornay & “Clive Warren”. 😂
@@PlentyFromJuanSheet"Who the fuck's Clive Warren?!"
Happy new year Dutch and James much success for 2025
You probably remember 'I'm So Excited' most of all from the Crunchie advert in the 90s.
Hearing James and Dutch talk about heavy metal made me chuckle
Great to have Dutch back on this fine work morning. Hope yall enjoyed your short holiday hiatus.
Yeah and he looks healthy!
Got my son a falcon 2 years ago. Took him 4 days to build. Its awesome!

Be a fan of Bret Hart instead, he's the man. Genuinely cares about his fans.
You should be proud that he didn't show up, he didn't have the talent to be given a title, ( they're given not won). All he could do was talk.
To add a few dishonorable mentions to Meltzer's 2024 reporting:

Great show as always fellas continued success for 2025 🤘🏻👊🏻
Just started the episode and clearly the best part is the Millennium Falcon in the back!
Yall realize this is an episode recapping 2024 moments? The Meltzer talk makes sense
Carter was still able to vote for Kamala! Probably thought she was the Ugandan Nightmare
I messed up. I voted for Kamala for that very reason. I only found out it was a drunk, lying slut later on. My bad.
Easy mistake to make as his surname was Harris as well.
"I'm so excited" from a very special episode of Saved by the Bell.
Dutch the mustache was on point!!!
This is going to be a great podcast!!
I love Dutch's Freddy Krueger look!
Hot Shots part deux! Yes! ... & heavy metal rules 🤟
59:40 there's no disputing the undertakers dong is iconic
I can remember back in the 80's 'I'm So Excited' was used for a wrestling commercial. But I can't remember if it was for Mid South or ICW.
12:10 new respect for Dutch Mantel
Well that could be the end of the Dutch-James partnership after Dutch watches Hot Shots Part Deux😂
Oh yea back to normal!!! 🙌
Wow.. Was just wondering why no one ever mentions Sweet Daddy Siki who was a mainstay on Maple Leaf Wrestling in Toronto for the '70's ... He even had a country rock band playing at LOCAL BARS... ! Thanks
Punk listens to Cornette, who has definitely talked about making run-ins more realistic.
When are you gonna build that millennial falcon?
Yeah that's an expensive set just to leave in the box.
@Shiny101 lol I have no legos but like and knew they are expensive 🤯
Millennium lol
I was close to scratching myself like a crackhead waitin on this, and Stevie!!

Good to see Dutch look like his normal self. 😊
Did you ever wrestle in Dayton or in the Ohio Valley area? Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

Tony had some of the same fàcial tics going on like Vince did at some of the Slammy Awards in the 80's....I can't remember the beer company right off that had the "bitter beer face" commercials years ago, but they look a lot alike😂
3 hour Smackdown....30 minutes of show, 2 and 1/2 hours of commercial...😂 .I hope Netflix pays enough to break RAW out of that template
good to see dutch back on
also seems like punk took a page out of dutchs book for that shower / towel scene
Waiting for someone to use the Saved By The Bell “I’m so scared” clip for the AEW opening.
The best part about Dave in 2024 were all of the spoof accounts that showed up on X. One of my favorite Dave related accounts is Meltzer said what.

at least with Raw being on netflix you dont have to watch it live if you dont want to

Dutch always has a plan
10. getting born
9. surviving childhood without an education
8. thinking he could write
7. getting interested in wrestling
6. stealing the star ratings from weasel dooley and jim cornette
5. no 5 star kurt angle matches
4. starting a pod cast

2. starting his newsletter
1. not finding another line of work that he is actually knowledgable about in order to have valid opinions regarding.
