I'm getting my turquoise fix! I love all colors of turquoise.. even the old dark green.. I often find in vintage pieces. I got some Cabs from Dan the Cab man this week... they are gorgeous.. now I have to find a silversmith they are too beautiful to do a busy wire wrap. Oh my... my favorite at 5:30 ish... WHOAAAAA! and there it is again and again.... I'd love that piece in a bracelet! The NOT an OVAL turned out so beautiful! It's cool you left it's history in tact on the back of the stone.
Turquoise Nice turquoise. Bummer on the one that broke I would fix it like you said. Supposed to snow down here this weekend you should be ok at your location but that mountain pass on the way to Barstow might be tricky if you heading that way.
I have always preferred stones with inclusions over pure colors. After thinking about it a bit I realize that they tell more of a story of earth time. How different elements dance together to fill space and as a result we are looking at the beautiful patterns and colors you are showing us.
it is a pure joy to watching the whole process! What a deal, Dave! Having small studio in France, I am still expecting the incredible DP Pixie cabbing machine currently sold out! i am a gem carver and still struggling to get that mirror polish, I am wondering if you may plan in the future making video on the polishing and mirror finishing and would love to have the different polishing brands you recommend, I have just bought Diashine pastes but not tested yet, I am looking for equivalent media, a little less pricey if possible. Would love to have your thoughts and other folks here. Thanks in advance
Thems some pretty rocks y'all. Anyway I missed two livestreams tonight! I'm going to watch them both regardless. The other was Gemstones hosted by Rebecca and Rob. Dave is a treasure, like something you'd find in a cave. That was a joke! You're the best my friend, I always look forward to your videos. 🙂
I imagine it would have made more money for her being actually offered for sale over the years. I dont do consignments because what has to sell, NEVER does unless you are literally giving it away and not burdened with offering it for sale against your own products. Good on the folks for donating it to you tho" for the give away price of 75$. How many ozs was it?
I do unfortunately I don’t think I want to sell it rough so I can make a little bit more money by cutting it if you’re interested in a cut feel free to let me know. Send me a text 772-284-4459. I’m raising money to pay off a very expensive guitar I just bought.
Stabilized means that it has laminate glued to the bottom of the cab. “Treated” means it’s been dipped in epoxy (old days) or treated with the Quartz epoxy. Right?
sometimes stabilization done in the 70's and 80's and 90's will not be detectable by just looking on the host rock rough parts that aren't windowed. You'll only know when you go to cut it and if it smells like plastic. If it has that beautiful floral-sweet scent then you'll know it's natural or else that the stabilization had not seeped into the stone. Just make sure that if you don't know from your source, be clear about that when you sell
Where on here or via text message ? If it was on text message forgive me I get hundreds of texts a day give me another text 772-284-4459 sorry if I missed it I literally get so many texts today it's crazy

@@lapidarydave I have one slab, but haven't cut it yet
I love that Dave has a stickers that says "Don't lick rocks" but he does it in real life all the time lol

I have a question...if my turquoise has pure copper veins in it and weighs a ton does it still sell by gram?
If it’s really turq and not chrysocolla i definitely could
Most turquoise even bad turq is sold by the gram

“Treated” means it’s been dipped in epoxy (old days) or treated with the Quartz epoxy.
Right?
@@neohippe1 I think it’s pretty subjective with the definition, but definitely there are different types of stabilization
Yeah just trying to wrap my head around it. Lolz thank you!
@ don’t think too too hard about it
@@lapidarydavenot thinking too much about it, is great advice!-$ 😂😊
Thank you.
Dave.....I want to buy some turquoise from you. Looking to get a mens ring and other jewlery. Want to at least get the turqouse from you
