I love the two piece Air Essentials type outfit. However, the bottoms are soooooo big! I can't even pull the string tight enough around my waist so they don't fall down. Too much room in the hip area as well. Any suggestions for smaller framed people? I'm 5' 4", 115 lbs.
I honestly can't believe how many of the USA youtubers I watch that have to apologize in advance and ask people not to comment negatively on their content. It really is upsetting. I agree with the ridiculous "competition" to pack the least. We've traveled quite a bit the last few years, and I've learned that I am an overpacker; and that will likely never change - though I've gotten better. I've learned I prefer a larger checked bag and smaller backpack for the airport versus a tote. I pack differently for airport versus driving. It's also okay to wear a pair of jeans or shirt more than once. And I've learned the most important thing to take "extra" of are underwear and bras :)

Thanks so much for sharing. For airplane travel, I have found the eBags Large Pack-it-Flat Toiletry Kit a game changer for fitting in a suitcase. Sometimes the toiletry bag can be as thick as a pair of shoes and does not fit, but this bag follows the concept of flat packing.
MZWallace makes great travel bags. I find that I can get more in a soft-sided suitcase than a hard-sided one. And I'm too OCD to just throw all my clothes in like that, then have to dig through the pile. I'm a packing cube traveller for sure.
I always unpack when I arrive at my destination, so I’m not digging through anything BUT it’s actually easier to “flip” through each layer and remove what you need this way! Don’t knock it until you try it! And after having several soft sided suitcases tear and/or get soaked from sitting out in the tarmac in the rain, I’ll NEVER go back to soft sided. I know the concept of hard sided luggage seems counterintuitive, but until you try it, you won’t get it!
I like how you put that. I had more to say on that line but decided that was enough snark for one video. But since you enjoyed it, I'll say that the same people who like to brag on how little they pack are the same people who boast that they delivered their babies with no epidural. Same thing-no award for that either. Or one could say we get the same award either way-a baby!
Just found your channel, and I am already a huge fan! Wow! You are thorough, concise, informative, and have great style! Am subscribing and going back to watch previous videos.
All good suggestions! For years I was a flat packer, then switched to packing cubes. Now I’m sort of a combo packer. I have also used the flat method inside a packing folder. Since I frequently travel without my husband, the largest bag I can manage on my own is 24”.
Agree folding is better to fit more in but wondering if more difficult to work with on holiday when moving every few days. Seems like it would only work if totally unpacking at destination. Gave me something to think about
I would not have believed your packing method was going to save me space as I’ve been a long-term packing cube believer. However, as it happens, I have just done a test pack for an upcoming trip. I will be using a carry on bag as my main case-it will have to be checked as it will weigh over the 15 lb max for the international airline I will using from Australia. I put my outer wear in compression cubes on one side of the clamshell, and socks, undies, miscellaneous stuff on the other-all in cubes. The outer wear in the compression cubes absolutely filled their half of the bag. When I removed them and laid them flat they not only fitted but I could have put in a bit more. Amazing. I’m a convert. The other side of the case I will leave with the cubes as otherwise it will be a jumble of socks, chargers, shoes, medicines, etc. In fact I will be able to add to the bag one or two items from my little 14 inch under seat spinner that will be my carry on, helping keep that bag under the weight limit. The other good thing was how quickly I was able to pack and unpack compared to the time it takes to roll. I think for any stays longer than one or two nights, it will be a proposition to completely unpack rather than fish for the item I want in the bag. I like unpacking it all-I can hang, hit with the steamer and have everything at my instant disposal when I want it. On another topic, I’m also a fan of skirts for flying. As an Australian, it takes forever to go places. An average trip starts with an 11 hour flight to first stop, a 6 or 7 hour layover, then another 8 or 9 hour flight, and possibly yet another layover and another flight. I think my current record is 39 hours from Melbourne to Tashkent. So comfort is absolutely number one. My favorite skirt at the moment is a navy bamboo full length skirt. Long skirts deal with floor-level drafts better than short ones, and conceal the necessary compression stockings, and bamboo breathes for hot climates, doesn’t wrinkle, and washes well. This skirt then becomes my go-to for holy places and looking dressy with a nice top for evenings out.
@@SM-yd8hq Hi, just to answer your question: Yes it is the Lana skirt, which is sold by several other shops. (I suspect they all probably belong to the same umbrella business.) I didn’t get it from Blue Bungalow, I ordered it through The Iconic, which sourced it from (I think) Bamboo Body. The Iconic price was the same as the other stores for the same skirt but came with free postage, which the others didn’t.
Girl you rock ,we are going on a cruise in May and i definitely will be packing like this and buying that steamer. Thank you for the tips ,and shopping ideas.❤
I bought the IFly luggage set from Walmart after your last video and I love that luggage! Also bought the Amazon toiletry bag which I also adore! You have the best suggestions!!
Love your video. I’m definitely not a minimalist but absolutely hate baggage claim and the anxiety I get worrying about the airline losing my stuff so I have learned how to pack a lot of stuff in a carryon bag. Just got back from a 2 day trip to Ft. Lauderdale followed by an 8 day cruise and managed to do it a 21” hard sided suitcase and a large personal bag. I pack very similarly to the way you showed.
I lost a ton of weight last year and have had to replace my ENTIRE wardrobe. So with that, I just received my new BRF tencel jiggers. Got them on a great sale so I got the black, navy, green and pinky color. Love love love. Need to get the Amazon Essential lounge wear stet now.
The one advantage I like about just folding and stacking or using cubes, is that you can separate types of items, such as bottoms/tops/etc, and you don't have to dig through the whole pile. I have also enjoyed the ease of taking packing cubes out and putting them in drawars, etc, without having to unpack/repack everything. I also have recently bought that MZ Wallace bag and it's great for trips with a laptop! Also more structured than the other one I have (also influenced by you in a previous video, lol)! Thanks for being so great!
I always unpack everything when I get to my destination, put I do put my undergarments and small items in packing cubes so those go directly in a drawer, when available.
I agree with you. Love the packing cubes because you can categorize clothing. It's like having portable dressers. These work well especially if you are in Europe for instance and you are staying two nights here and two nights there, etc.
I can’t imagine just piling my clothes like that. I’m obsessive about folding properly. As far as packing cubes, I was a huge skeptic but after a couple of trips, I am a dedicated convert. So easy and practical for me. I am an unpacker if at a hotel more than one night. To each his or her own! Find what works for your situation! You are the expert on you despite what any influencer has to say! Happy Travels, everyone!
Hi Marnie, This was such a practical and helpful video. I like the way you just placed the clothes in the suitcase without packing cubes. This video will help your viewers to pack easier with less stress! Thank you!
Hi Marnie, I always overpack just in case...probably not the best idea. My husband tells me we can always stop at a store. He's correct. Anyway, this is a helpful video in planning how to take what you need on vacation. Have a fun trip or week. xoxo Karen
Ha ha my husband always says the same thing. “We are not going somewhere where they don’t have a store!” we went away for 12 days. He had 5 T-shirts , 5 pair of shorts , five pr.underwear - needless to say , we did do laundry for him. 🤦🏻♀️
Used to overpack when I was in my teens until I got chewed out by my grandmother about it, plus I don't want to pay those overlimit fees. If I don't have it, I'll just buy it, which will probably be cheaper than those airline fees, plus it will be kind of like a souvenir :)
I always love seeing how others pack & yours was great! The only other packing gadget I take when flying is a compact scale I think you recommended years ago. Now I love road trip travel the best. I’ll definitely try your packing method next time. Thanks for another great video Marnie, see you next time😘
Haha that huge luggage joke!! Sometimes I feel like i need a suitcase that large 😂 Every trip I vow to cut back and I then find I have over packed. I Have a girls trip next week to SC and will definitely try the flat packing method instead of using packing cubes. I purchased the MZ Wallace duffle bag after a previous recommendation from you and it is my go to carry on. Another great video! And on a side note- Happy Passover ❤
Im getting those hangers! Also when I travel I always bring a few suction cup hooks and I found some valet trays made of felt that snap in corners to keep jewelry and make up tidy. I have lots of small bottles decanted etc and makes it easier for the cleaning service to tidy the room. :)
I never packed in those packing qubes . I was always so surprised how people didn't understand from mathematical perspective that those qubes take the space away from the suitcase. I'm not that great in math just saying. I also would never travel in a dress ever . Finely a video on packing that make sense Thank you .
I used to think that exactly! But the exact same clothes take up less space when in the packing cubes vs just folded or rolled…. (And not even the compression variety of cubes). It must be some kind of weird magical packing effect!😉 seriously, try it sometime….you may be as surprised as I was!
I’m so glad you posted this! Traveling overseas and looking to buy luggage because my daughter who graduated from college last year has my set. It’s only right…I get NEW luggage. I have an Away carry-on, and I love it, but I need a checked one and I’m not wanting to pay that price. I ordered the travel outfit and it should arrive tomorrow (based on your IG post, I think). I used to be a maximalist when packing (for flights), but after about a year of traveling nearly every week for work, it got to be a bit of a pain to try and keep track of all the things I brought to make sure it all came back with me. So, i created a travel capsule wardrobe with clothes that were wrinkle free (Misook). I found travel sized makeup “compacts” from duty-free stores, travel makeup brushes and all my skincare, decanted into travel containers to fit into a 3-1-1 bag. Now, for car travel? Maximalist. Suitcases for where we end up, and a carry-on for on the road so I’m just bringing in 1 suitcase and my backpack into the hotel each night.
Great tips! At first, I thought there was no way on the pacing, but I think I'll give it a try. I'm a heavy packer. I like options. I always change my mind, and you never know if there's a weather change or too much too little AC. I travel to Texas every summer, in and out of the AC and heat.
I REALLY appreciate you adding the price of the item on the screen when you are showing it. I don’t know how many times I pause a video, to just go down a rabbit hole looking for the price, then color, then size - and then finding out its not available, or in my price range. Thank you!
Hi Marnie, What a great video! Item #4 under Travel Outfits is linking to a similar, but different outfit. It looks like it’s more for winter. Do you know if your version is still available?
I have both the single power phone bank….BUT the other one with multi ports…..bought five…. Best gift ever. I also own the brush holder and the retractable power cord….. great for traveling with CPAP.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
You are so funny! I’m an overpacker, too. I like options and I like a different outfit for every day. My husband and I do road-trips only. The one time we left a bag at home, it was our shoes. It definitely decreased my enjoyment of the trip, although we were able to get what we had to have from Walmart.
Great video! Heading to Vegas in a couple of months and need new luggage. I'm definitely struggling between choosing soft side and hard side luggage but, either way, I'm definitely going to use your packing method! As a mother of 3 daughters, I'm an unapologetic over-packer. When they were young, I always had everything they needed...just in case! lol
Great video! I’m going to be traveling the next few months and this was awesome. I’m definitely going to do the lay flat packing. Can’t wait! Thank you for always having great content.
I learned a long time ago from Martha Stewart how to pack. Don't know how to describe it it but I can pack at least two weeks in a 26" carry on including toiletries.
On my last trip, I was having trouble getting everything to fit in my suitcase and then I decided to try flat packing per your suggestion. Game changer so helpful and hardly any of my stuff got wrinkled. Thanks!!!!!❤😊😊😊
Thanks for these travel suggestions! I really like wearing stretchy, comfortable pants when traveling for sure. I use our steamer quite often. In our tiny living space and my tiny closet, my clothes get wrinkled. Just because I live in a camper, doesn't mean I want to look wrinkly! Your packing method was so surprising! I can't believe how much you fit in that suitcase. 😲The fold up hangers are so clever! I will check those out! - Michelle
Fantastic tips!! Where is that green floral dress you showed packing from?? really pretty!! I need that makeup brush pouch! I'm a 2 large suitcase gal. I like my own pillow and throw to sleep with.(neck issues)I like to feel "at home comfy" Everything but the kitchen sink" my son says.
This is an amazing video!! Thank you! I am getting ready to go on a 5 day trip to CO traveling from SC and I will definitely use your tips. Also going to ask for the quince carry on and steamer for Mother’s Day. ❤
Great video Marnie. I especially loved the flat packing tip. I'll be picking up a couple of the items you shared. I left a previous comment that the fine knit travel set on Amazon is coming up as a different set then you showed. Ty so much.
I am leaving on a weeklong cruise and I am going to try packing without my cubes. I am so excited. I love your style and own many items from your recommendations. Thank you!
The jumpsuit was my favorite In fact ai have that exact one from Amazon in a different color I am not a sweatsuit type person so would prefer a stretchy jean Great ideas !
Hi Marnie! I think I’m going to try your flat packing method for my next trip. I was so impressed seeing ALL the clothes you fit in your suitcase using this method. I’m heading to Ireland! 🥰
Hi Marnie - I love your videos and recommendations! And I definitely support packing a little extra and checking in a bag. As this is a travel video would you be able to recommend a travel dress (or a brand) that is wrinkle -resistant and very lightweight for a backpacking hike across Italy in August/September? Something for evenings and dinners out? I know this is a very specifuc request and my thanks in advance for any recommendations!
I know that Chico's has a line specifically for travelling called their Traveler line. It's generally not my style but I think they've added some new stuff for spring that you may like!
Love the extension cord gadget! I travel with an extension cord, and this option is next level. And, I will TRY the flat lay packing on my business trip.
Your packing technique is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I have been rolling mine forever and never had enough room. Cannot wait to use this video this summer flying to my sisters. Thank you. 😊
One of my FAVORITE videos that you do and I don’t travel much . . . Lol. I have purchased and use several of your recommended items! Thanks Marnie. Much Love💚. PS I can’t wait to try this method of packing!
What was that green dress you packed? Also, I have the cowboy tee. I wore it yesterday at my yard sale and got questioned about it several times. Thanks for helping me find Maurice's!
Beautiful eyes! I noticed a difference in your eye makeup. You went a bit darker on the outer corners. Lifts up the eyes. I love the top and bottom lashes too. Darker? Thicker? Not sure what the difference is but it's lovely!
I just found your channel yesterday and subscribed. It’s timing for my upcoming spring/summer travel. I like it that you include your size and measurements in your outfits video. It makes it easier to figure out what size I should order. Your detailed description is helpful. Thank you.
Loved the video….not a minimalist either! I never thought about travel hangers but they are in my cart already. I want to wish you and your family a Happy Passover season. I am trying to stay positive but today’s news has me on edge.
Travel and SO much more! TY for another fun and helpful vid! I've bought and loved the 2 piece "free people" and "air essentials" dupes, and 1 for my sister. They're great for travel, but also for a conference, meetings, classes- student or teaching, etc. IMHO, of course : )
We tend to carry our hanging clothes on hangers when we travel by car which 9/10 is how we travel. ☺️ And we travel for a week at a time at least 10 months out of the year.
I stopped using packing cubes and started packing like you and it is so much better, I was able to pack much more using that method. I have the travel hangers as well and they are great.
Marnie, great tips thank you. I was just about to order the first outfit listed when I noticed it says "hand wash only ". Do you hand wash yours or have you put it in the washer on the delicate cycle? Want to get it but hand washing is not going to happen.
@@MsGoldgirl Ahh, ok good. I am glad it's nothing serious. I notice the facial droop and went to the comments to see if anyone mentioned it. Have a great Sunday! ❤️
Wow! I really have never thought of this packing strategy. Excellent idea! Do you have any suggestions for decanting and packing liquid makeup? I cannot stand the cheap plastic containers that always leak.
I found bottle covers on Amazon. Comes in a couple different sizes. Not to be rude or vulgar, but they fit over your bottles like a condom with a little clip to hold it in place.
I don’t decant my makeup. They’re already pretty small and even with all the makeup I use, it still all fits in the quart size baggie. However, there are basically toilette condoms you can order here: bit.ly/3LcLm52

So glad to see someone else who packs as much clothes as they want. ❤️

Fellow Aussie going to the UK in a month and I think this has converted me. Is the bamboo skirt from blue bungalow. I love those.
Good to know. Trying to cram everything for 9 days in a carry on suitcase. Will just lay it all in. Sounds easy enough!
I'm with you on not packing light! I'm always going to check my bag. If my total contence and bag are left than 50lbs, I'm good!
Girl you rock ,we are going on a cruise in May and i definitely will be packing like this and buying that steamer.
Thank you for the tips ,and shopping ideas.❤
Double check with your cruise line regarding the steamer. Some don’t allow them.
Have fun!
Marnie, can you please do a makeup tutorial of this look? You look gorgeous. I miss your chatty make up videos.
Thanks! I will probably keep the makeup tutorials over on Instagram. When I post them here, they get about a ¼ of the views that my other videos get!
I bought the IFly luggage set from Walmart after your last video and I love that luggage! Also bought the Amazon toiletry bag which I also adore! You have the best suggestions!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Marnie! Thank you for this. I leave for a cruise Tuesday and forgot about those hangers. Just bought them with same day delivery- crisis averted😊
Have a great trip!
I’m going to try this packing technique. Makes sense! I always take a foldable compact tote bag just in case (shopping).
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Just finished packing for vacation. Flat packing is life changing, Thank you Marnie ❤
Hi Marnie, I always overpack just in case...probably not the best idea. My husband tells me we can always stop at a store. He's correct. Anyway, this is a helpful video in planning how to take what you need on vacation. Have a fun trip or week. xoxo Karen
So true!
Thanks for another great video Marnie, see you next time😘
Great! I use 3 smaller suit cases; one for bottoms, two for tops, 3 three for sleep shirt, bathing suits, and underwear. I have a small makeup case.
Thank you! We just put in or order for matzah!!
Im getting those hangers! Also when I travel I always bring a few suction cup hooks and I found some valet trays made of felt that snap in corners to keep jewelry and make up tidy. I have lots of small bottles decanted etc and makes it easier for the cleaning service to tidy the room. :)
Great idea!!
Good advice!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips! At first, I thought there was no way on the pacing, but I think I'll give it a try. I'm a heavy packer. I like options. I always change my mind, and you never know if there's a weather change or too much too little AC. I travel to Texas every summer, in and out of the AC and heat.
That brush holder is a game changer - love it and recommend it constantly to friends.
It makes a great gift too!!
Browns & blues are always my favorite colors 🎉. Colors like yellows, and orange also excites me! Thanks for sharing❤
Great video! I’m getting ready for a trip, and I love all your tips. Thanks Marnie!
Have fun!
Sooooo many good ideas and products. Thank you.
I REALLY appreciate you adding the price of the item on the screen when you are showing it. I don’t know how many times I pause a video, to just go down a rabbit hole looking for the price, then color, then size - and then finding out its not available, or in my price range. Thank you!
I have that steamer and it’s a keeper. It’s so easy to use!
Thanks for posting! I love travel packing tips!
It really is a good one!
Hi Marnie, What a great video! Item #4 under Travel Outfits is linking to a similar, but different outfit. It looks like it’s more for winter. Do you know if your version is still available?
I second this request! Thanks 😊
Oops-that was the long sleeved version! Here’s the corrected one: bit.ly/3ThaXxS
Enjoying watching you from Australia
I have both the single power phone bank….BUT the other one with multi ports…..bought five…. Best gift ever. I also own the brush holder and the retractable power cord….. great for traveling with CPAP.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
This was great. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate you immensely !
You are so welcome!
When they were young, I always had everything they needed...just in case! lol
That lipstick shade it perfect for you ❤
Great video! I’m going to be traveling the next few months and this was awesome. I’m definitely going to do the lay flat packing. Can’t wait! Thank you for always having great content.
I love those hangers- use them all the time! Same with the makeup brush holder.
Excellent presentation! Thank you.
I don’t have the opportunity to travel that much, however, next time I will try the flat packing.
I found this interesting. I would like to see you do one for flying and going on 14 day cruise. With flying, size and weight are considerations.
Um...no.
The foldable hangers are in my cart … never knew they existed. ❤
They are a lifesaver!
I'm so glad you gave it a try!!
- Michelle
This method would definitely work well for you!
You & I are maximalist & no apology needed 😃
Fantastic tips!! Where is that green floral dress you showed packing from?? really pretty!! I need that makeup brush pouch! I'm a 2 large suitcase gal. I like my own pillow and throw to sleep with.(neck issues)I like to feel "at home comfy" Everything but the kitchen sink" my son says.
I think you mean this one...It's coming in a video haul on Thursday: bit.ly/3xsj9UJ
Hi Marnie, I watched this the other day, but I wanted to come back and wish you and your family a happy Pesach. ❤
Great tip Marnie I will take you Ideas on my next trip ! Mary Carmen Howard 🌟🌟🌟
Have fun!
This is an amazing video!! Thank you! I am getting ready to go on a 5 day trip to CO traveling from SC and I will definitely use your tips. Also going to ask for the quince carry on and steamer for Mother’s Day. ❤
Glad it was helpful!
I’m buying one for myself for Mother’s Day!
Great video Marnie. I especially loved the flat packing tip. I'll be picking up a couple of the items you shared. I left a previous comment that the fine knit travel set on Amazon is coming up as a different set then you showed. Ty so much.
Yes I corrected it and replied to the comment but here’s the correct link: bit.ly/3XN9aT1
I am leaving on a weeklong cruise and I am going to try packing without my cubes. I am so excited. I love your style and own many items from your recommendations. Thank you!
Have fun!
The jumpsuit was my favorite In fact ai have that exact one from Amazon in a different color I am not a sweatsuit type person so would prefer a stretchy jean Great ideas !
Great video!
Thanks!
Hi Marnie! I think I’m going to try your flat packing method for my next trip. I was so impressed seeing ALL the clothes you fit in your suitcase using this method. I’m heading to Ireland! 🥰
Please do and have an amazing time!
Thanks for sharing all of these tips. My family is going on a cruise in May so this will be very helpful as I am also a maximalist. 😂
Love the extension cord gadget! I travel with an extension cord, and this option is next level. And, I will TRY the flat lay packing on my business trip.
Let me know how it goes!
Your packing technique is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I have been rolling mine forever and never had enough room. Cannot wait to use this video this summer flying to my sisters. Thank you. 😊
Have fun visiting your sisters!
Saving this video to watch again before we go to Italy in the Fall. Great ideas.
Wonderful! What a fun trip!
I just got it from Walmart! It’s coming in a video on Thursday but here’s the link: bit.ly/3UbdX0e
Also we stay mostly in two bedroom/two bathroom villas. I really appreciate the extra bathroom. 😂
Fantastic tips!
Happy Passover from Argentina. Love your YT Channel, nothing to comment about this last video, just sending you a חג שמח!
So many great tips for traveling! Thanks for sharing. 😊❤😊
Thanks for watching!
Great tips and items Marnie! Thank you ❤. Btw I see we’re approaching 250,000!!! Yay 👏👏👏
Slowly but surely!
I’m trying this new packing method on my next trip!
You should!
Very helpful. I really need that carryon bag! Thank you!
Perfect timing for an upcoming cruise ❤
I stopped using packing cubes and started packing like you and it is so much better, I was able to pack much more using that method. I have the travel hangers as well and they are great.
That is awesome!
Oh my gosh! This is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thanks! I’m going to try that technique! I’ve got some trips coming up!
Marnie, great tips thank you. I was just about to order the first outfit listed when I noticed it says "hand wash only ". Do you hand wash yours or have you put it in the washer on the delicate cycle? Want to get it but hand washing is not going to happen.
I never hand wash anything! Just delicate cycle on cold and then lay flat to dry.
Thank you
All packing aside, I told you your lisp would get better! I had to check to make sure this wasn’t an old video!
Yay!! Little by little!!
What happened? I haven't see a video in a little bit and the nurse in me noticed her facial droop.
@@jen_graham I have Invisalign trays.
Great tips I can use as I head out next month from California to London. On long flights, comfort is priority one! Thank you!
Have a great time-London is one of my favorite places!
@@MsGoldgirl Thank you! Mine too!
This video was great as usual. Thank you Marnie❤️
The steamer looks great but it’s not approved for 220 V in Europe. Can you recommend one that we can use for Europe? Thank you Marnie
Sorry-I don’t have a rec for Europe.
I am the same with packing! ❤️
I am going to try your packing method on my next trip! I bet the clothes are a lot less wrinkled than using packing cubes. Thank you!
They really are! If you want to be "extra", try laying a sheet of tissue paper in between the more delicate or prone to wrinkle items!
@@MsGoldgirl What a great tip!
Wow beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Hi, does the toiletry bag allowed to be in the carryon luggage? Thanks!
Great tips! Thanks so much. 👌
