    ENO. A true genius. He sees things in a band and in music that are supernatural. His musical intellect and vision is off the scale. U2 and Brian were a magical match.

    I think Edge is not only impressed by Bono's singing talent, but also by Bono's ability to actually make the melody of the song, almost instantly. I understand that he does that on a regular basis.

      Yes, if you listen to „One” studio session, the melody he sang for the first time during jam session is the one on the record.

      JT is a very timeless album, their other 80s records sound very 80s same with their 90s. Which sound 90s. But JT could have come out yesterday.

    Hearing these early beginnings to this song to me suddenly really strongly brings out a Lou Reed influence I'd never picked up on before. The "Perfect Day"-like piano, the content of the lyric, and his love of early r&b in the "ha-la-la-di-day" vocal.

    I feel very lucky to be a local here in JT. I remember when Gram Parsons tragically died here. I know the National Park better than the park rangers, many places that the rangers don't know about, same about the non-patrolled Wilderness areas where many folks have gotten lost or died. My dad taught me a lot about hiking the trails long years ago. Also, I have a secret cave that is cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Given food and water I could live there month on end, even YEARS if need be..

    • @ardaz1987
      @ardaz1987 3 роки тому +1

      @@wodenoftheangles3339 it’s not naive or disrespectful. There’s no questioning the Beatles being the greatest band of all time, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who disagrees with that. But to say that U2 aren’t worthy of being compared to other great bands such as the Stones, Queen, the Who etc... is naive and disrespectful to a band that hold all sorts of records for their tours and record sales relative to their age and the fact that people tend to download their music now rather buy physical albums. To my knowledge U2 have never released a duff album, can you really say that about the Stones....some of their stuff is garbage.

    I have to say I reluctantly agree with you. Their still my fav band too but they def reached their peak with zoo tv/auchtung baby. U2 to me were always a more political and socially aware outfit rather than a rock band as such and zoo tv/auchtung baby was the height of that playing the rockstar thing which really suited their personalities. Great album and it was the best show ever. I saw zoo tv live, pop and vertigo also. Now their just going through the motions . . . (get on your boots?!?)

      I think they were still ok with All that you can’t leave behind and even How to dismantle an Atomic Bomb. I will say their concerts are not the same as they were. I see them when they come to town. I first saw them for the Joshua tree tour in the 80’s. Their shows in the 90’s were amazing. I now live in Vancouver and fro some reason they like to start their tours here which is cool. If you drove by the arena days before the shows you could hear them practicing.

    So that everyone is aware these are the dry tracks, some demos playing through a $150,000 mixing console dry without all the outboard hardware connected. So this is why your recordings always sound like crap because you do not have $350,000 in outboard gear, Console mixer, Studio booths.

      Many fans were not happy with Rattle and Hum; it is a sentimental favorite for me as it was my first album of U2 that I really got into. All I want is You was my wedding song. But I think their head's were much too big at this time. Achtung Baby is their true masterpiece in my view. But that is my humble opinion.

    • @reinfendr583
      @reinfendr583 6 років тому +1

      Got to disagree, because one of the things that make U2 awesome today is that period in the early 90s where they went further and explored different sounds, they broke with their own traditions. Achtung Baby is arguably their best album along with Joshua Tree, Zooropa is also a key work on their career, nice songs on it like the title-track (kind of a prog song) and Stay, Lemon, etc.
