Hats off to the courageous young boy who faced a painful encounter with a blue bottle jellyfish, and a massive round of applause for the lifeguards who swiftly stepped in to provide assistance. Has anyone else been stung by a jellyfish before? 😨
Almost! As a kid once, my grandpa ran in and plucked me from the water, explaining that I'd been standing within stinging distance of a man-of-war. I don't think I went back in the water that day.
I got smashed by a couple of blue bottles for the first time on the sunshine coast when I was 14, one on the leg and the other around my stomach. It was truly the most painful thing I had ever experienced and I really felt for that little bloke.
@@Thekinngofats my brother has been stung by a blue bottle on the leg and his reaction was the same as this poor boy. And I’ve been stung by one on the finger, it feels like a bee sting but on steroids (wayyyy worse)

This is very heart wrenching, you can see they really want to help the boy, but also they are limited on how because of him being scared and stressed. You really feel for the boy of his pain, but also the guys trying to help him as comfortably as possible.
This was extremely difficult to watch. I got a nephew this age and I could not handle seeing him in this amount of pain. That poor kid. Hell I can’t imagine how his father felt being there and unable to help.

I just came across this... Years ago, across the "pond", my daughter was stung in the ocean on her face by a large jellyfish. Wow I was surprised to hear that hot water is the best remedy for bluebottle stings, that used to be considered one of the old-fashioned remedies from 50 years ago. Not sure why the lifeguards didn't offer the boy the maximum allowable paracetamol dose right from the get-go, given that they are authorised to use the "whistle", which I imagine is a restricted and scheduled drug.
In another video (the one about the dislocated finger) they said that the only way they are allowed to give someone the whistle is if they call an ambulance so i'm guessing they wanted to be sure it was needed.
@@aerynventress7702 to be honest, having suffered a jellyfish sting myself, I doubt that paracetamol on its own would do much more than take the edge off. It certainly wouldn't block the pain fully. Maybe ibuprofen plus codeine might help a bit more. I'm no medical person but I have kids; and with kids, taking healing actions like giving them some medicine, is half the battle when it comes to calming their hysteria which is only making the pain worse. I would have considered giving the kid ice, or an iceblock, to suck, because cold is a major distraction which really helps a kid in pain take their attention off the pain site.
