- Joe gives initial thoughts on the SOG Poweraccess Assist Multitool. This is supposed to be SOG’s biggest and most capable EDC for first responders, but does it live up to the hype?
To make the assisted opening work, you can loose the screws a little, lubricate and leave the assisted tools half-open for an hour or two. Not too much time or you will have to disassemble and reform the lock springs. This steel can bend in short time. First try screws and tool oil.
Interesting… thanks. I may try that because I want this to work well
I'm tempted to try this one again. It'd be great if it worked, but the first one I tried most definitely didn't. I ended up sending it back.
Hey everyone, my name is Jonathan. I just recently purchased the SOG power access assist multitool in the assisted opening part on the blades work somewhat but they won’t swing out and lock all the way in place if anyone knows everything that I could try or anything that I should do to make it so it fully works well I would really appreciate if someone would let me know.

My Access Assist springs work perfectly. A quick of the thumb stud and each blade deploys perfectly.
Get ready to locktite every screw on this thing. When i deploy the hook 4 or 5 times it gets so loose the other tools just flop around.
Good to know. Thanks
What is the button magnet used for in the packaging and where does it go
The assisted springs on mine work fine. SOG is well known for poor quality control so I’d chalk it up to that
I’ve handled 5 of their tools and there isn’t consistent QC that I’ve seen, so that would make sense
Just got mine out of the drawer to remember...yep. The serrated blade assist works great. The main blade sticks a bit. Not great, not terrible.
I got a power access(the medium size one) off Ali Express and the locking is out of whack. Just kind of random I guess.
better than leatherman arc xD
Is it just me or the thumbstud on a saw does seem like a bad idea ? Looks like it will get in the way of, you know, sawing.
I’ll have to find out. It does seem like a strange choice
Can't speak for the Poweraccess assist , but I got the old PowerAssist and yeah, it does not pop like a switch blade, it's more of a inciting motion. I got used to it, and find it to be pretty convenient compared to other tools I tried... But admittedly I've used this multi-tool for 15 years now, so it might be Stockholm syndrome... The clumping of the tools on the poweraccess Assist is quite disturbing though ... Especially for a quick access multitool.
Thank you for your video.
Great! The next on my list...
Shouldn’t be a half stop, because my Powerlock has the same functionality and you can’t move it when it’s locked in.
Great overview! I’ve always found SOG to have really intriguing ideas that are never executed well. Even my PowerPint, which is by far the best executed SOG in my opinion, shows signs of poor machining. Such a shame.
SOG the best mutlitool in the world .. but everyone is entitled to his opinion;)
my power assist tools have no issues. I have seen people also have no issues on other channels you need to flick it
I’ve been a knife collector for like 15 years. Trust me, I’m flicking the thumbstud. This assist is not dialed in correctly.
just got mine today, same shape as yours unfortunately@@inkiron3907
struggling to use an assist opening roflmao. A tool using a tool. Which one is faulty.
Like how your mom struggles on my tool
Where did you order the multi tool from?
