My (now ex) girlfriend wasn’t really the type to play video games, but for whatever reason she obsessively played Zoo Tycoon ever since she was a kid. I first met her in probably 2005 when we were in high school and she passed away in 2019 and I can’t ever recall a time where she didn’t have it paused on her computer. She would have loved everything about this game. The Tycoon games never really appealed to me (outside of Operation Genesis and Rimworld if they count) but since she passed away I’ve considered picking one up from time to time in honor of her. Between work and my backlog I’ve just never gotten around to it. I might check this out though. I like the aesthetic a lot more than the old PC games and I’m sure it’s got a lot of quality-of-life stuff not present in the old ones. It seems pretty deep and engaging from what you’ve described here.
I don’t know what I did to have this video suggested to me but I’m glad it was.
I hope they make a new one called let’s build a city with the same features that would be funny! And fun.

My zoo looks terrible, my progression is at a snails pace because i'm spending most of my time fiddling with things and i'm having a great time with it.
I'm delighted at how kind this game is. We can build whilst the game is paused. We can release animals whilst the game is paused. We can move things whilst the game is paused and there is no financial penalty for it. It's a dream to people who'd be otherwise overwhelmed.
I think it's safe to say that this game is going to be absolutely lethal when steam deck comes out.
I completely agree - this game portable is going to destroy me.
I wish I'd mentioned how kind it is as well, that's a really good point. I did find myself pausing things a lot to fend off the overwhelm. It was nice that it gives you a breather in that sense.

I never got super into this genre, but the art style and silly aspects have me intrigued! NL Alex is really into sims like this and I bet he’d be happy to hear about this! 😄
You should give it a try when it comes to Switch, it's great fun! Very easy to lose yourself in for hours at a time. Looking forward to watching the Nintendo Life video review in a few months time ;)

They need to make One Piece: Pirates' Carnival remake. Also Killer Queen Black is a fun game.
Idk man I’m literally heading out the door to return this game. It felt like I didn’t have time to figure anything out before I had a new task to figure out. It felt like I was always bombarded with something new before I had fully figured the last thing out.
Currently on sale for switch with dinosaur dlc - I’m going to try it 👍

I plan on buying this game but still I honestly wish they had a build a zoo game that's graphics were more realistic and better even if it cost more money..I wouldn't mind paying the extra for better gameplay and more realism
