  • 🚙 DESTINATION: Rylstone NSW.
📍 WHERE: The pretty rustic town of Rylstone is about 250km northwest of Sydney, and about 50km from Mudgee. It's within the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area and the Mudgee Region tourism area .
🛣 SCENIC ROUTES: There are a number of wonderful scenic drives to this litle town, including via Bylong Valley Way from near Sandy Hollow, or via Glen Davis and Glen Alice roads through the spectacular Capertee Valley. We did the latter, and despite the roads being a bit rough in places, the scenery is truly breathtaking.
👉🏾 COUNTRY: Rylstone is on Wiradjuri Country.
❓❓WHY: We were looking for a peaceful winter break, a quiet getaway where we could enjoy good food, wine and fossicking through local shops.
❄ SEASON: Good winter destination, but be well prepared for the crisp, cold mornings and evenings.
    🕰TIME: We stayed two nights.
🛌🏽 WHER WE STAYED: We booked The Cottage at Coomba via Airbnb. This nicely appointed little house on a working farm about ten minutes drive from town had everything we needed and more.
👜 WHAT WE DID: Lots of little shops to explore and we particularly enjoyed the Convent and Chapel Wool Shop and homewares story Folkologie. There is a well marked heritage trail around town, well worth doing. We called in at Rylstone Olive Press which was quiet due to the time of year, but took home a really top notch bottle of their olive oil (it's almost all gone 😔).
🍷 WINE: We tasted some award winning drops at De Beaurepaire Wines .
☕ COFFEE: There are a number of choices, but on this particular occasion we popped in to Cafe On Louee 👍.
🍴 MEALS: Lunch was excellent at 29 nine 99 - Yum Cha and Tea House in the historic old Bridge View Inn (1870s). Be sure to book ahead as it's open limited hours and is very popular. Good pub food at The Globe Hotel, Rylstone .
