PREFER: IWB, but I carry both ways depending on the situation. IWB carries great in warm weather when I'll be in one layer of light clothing. OWB conceals great in cooler seasons when I'm more likely to be wearing a coat or hoodie as an outer layer, so OWB removes a layer of access while still being concealed.
IWB killed my back. That constant lateral pressure caused my hips to shift. I started dealing with a bulging disc. I’m sure there other factors, but once I went OWB, the back problems went away. It helped that Oklahoma became an open carry state.
For me, it's pocket carry. It just works for me and it's the most comfortable, which guarantees I'm going to always carry my six round snub with 158g swlhp +p wherever I can. I've tried IWB with my snub and it feels like having the head of a ball peen hammer pressed against my hip. I sometimes pocket carry my Shield Plus( which I love) but my snub is my main go to.
I have done both and there’s advantages to either. At the end of the day, I prefer OWB and can hide a p365xl without any real effort. If I want something bigger a light jacket takes care of that too
This is a great channel. I've learned so much here! So I'm comfortable offering an alternative. In this case, I went with a third choice. I didn't like either IWB or OWB, but I needed (wanted) TOTAL concealment. I had an innocent-looking leather belt pouch made (with a flap) for my Ruger LCP Max (which accommodates the 12-round mag) and made an inner liner from thermoplastic. It's comfortable, functional and essentially invisible - with 13 rounds of defensive ammo, my perfect daily conceal carry.
I'm a big guy and cannot imagine carrying either IWB or appendix. Thankfully I work from home these days, but when I carry I use a Sneaky Pete holster with a snubbie 38 revolver (J-frame). Sneaky Pete is OWB but has a flap that goes over the gun so it is 100% not visible as a gun. Yes people can see I have something bigger than a cell phone on my belt, but it does not show what it is. When driving the consoles in both our cars do not give enough room to have that gun hanging down from my belt on the right side. So I carry on my left side at 9:00 position and would just draw across my body if needed. The comfort is totally fine even in the car.
I conceal carry (IWB) the 509 Tactical daily. Even with a t-shirt on. With the extended mag, you cannot CC without printing very bad though. I also have shoulder carried this and it was super comfortable.
I use both IWB and OWB but depends on clothing and time of year mostly. I fit the gun to clothing not clothing to the gun. I agree it can change and depend on the situation. Then there is shoulder and calf/ankle carry. Dress pants with larger legs accommodate calf or ankle carry better. Shoulder carry is coat, jacket, or hoodie dependent.
I carry owb during the colder months because I wear sweaters or hoodies so it's fairly easy to conceal. Because I wear baseball jerseys during the warmer months, I'll carry iwb because there's very little printing.
Having two pant sizes is frustrating for IWB holsters. To be comfortable, my pants has to be 2 inches larger in the waist for IWB holsters. Finding a good OWB holster contoured to the body is better, hidden with a shirt and jacket over it.
It's not as fast but for comfort I prefer my Vedder pocket holster in my front jean pocket. I have a SIG P365 and I have it in my pocket 16 hours a day, even lounging around at home.
I'm 37, 5'9" and 140 lbs. I carry both but owb is easy more comfortable.i just bought a WPH WE THE PEOPle HOLSTERS iwb Holster for my sw mp2.0 shield which works fantastic but does hurt me physically pursuing into my groin which has little cushion and it's proved hard to get used to. So the commen about iwb being difficult for small fame or skinny people is very accurate even with a proper holster. Try several things and find what's best for your body type because one size/type of holster/gun combo don't fit all. Either way the best purchase o have made for my CCW is the WPH Belt. I use the velcro one without a buckle which is kind of aggravating to get on and off but it holds the gun solid and does not flip or move. It's stuff as to not do what a leather belt will do with a heavy or even light gun and holster in it. The retention of the holster mated with the belt makes it feel be safe to carry, run, etc.
I prefer OWB but there's next to no holsters for P365 X Mac, and none that are Level 2 or better. But during the summer, Hawaiian shirts are great for breaking up any printing.
For me IWB feels like Im wearing a cilice (self mortification garter); I think both are valid and you can make either work for you; just depends on your preference and situation.
IWB Glock 17 conceals nicely. I'm 6'1", 230. Summer or winter I wear an under and over shirt or jacket. Usually do OWB while hiking, again with an over shirt or jacket.
Personally, I think appendix carry is violating rule one, particularly when sitting and refuse to even try it. I’ll stick to hip IWB and OWB. Subcompact IWB is the most covert and accessible.
6'5" 240 and OWB at the 3-4 oclock is the only way to fly . My state does allow visibility so thats not an issue and if your that worried about someone grabbing it. Carry another thats accesible by your left hand 😎😎 that should handle anyone stupid enough to start fighting me for the one on the right side. Having one of anything is like having none.... One is none and two is one....
I'm not very fond of the shirt tail out look, that's been the fashion rage lately. I'll carry 'tucked' whenever it's possible. One advantage I have, is still being able to see my feet though!😆
OWB every day in any weather. Have IWB, pocket, and shoulder holsters gathering dust in a closet. Wear the same clothes, golf shirts, every day. A jacket on top during cold weather. The fact is 99.9% of people will not notice, not even when open carrying. I CCW 99% of the time, but have opened carried on occasion. No one ran away yelling, "He's got a gun." Mothers didn't grab their children and ran away screaming, "we are going to die." People are so focused on themselves and what they are doing that they fail to notice what's happening around them.
A light weight cotton cover shirt works 12 months a year. That way, you don't have a loaded firearm pointed at your baby maker. I have been at two training classes where I've seen first hand what it looks like to have an N.D. into your leg. Never point a loaded firearm at anything you're not willing to destroy. No it wasn't done on purpose, but accidents happen, especially when speed is involved. No number on a timer is worth getting shot. Especially when you have to tell the family and medical staff that YOU shot yourself.
I'm not an advocate for open carry unless someone is an armed security officer or someone is in a remote or rural area. Reason is simple. It would not be difficult for a group of thugs to surprise and overpower someone open carrying. Obviously if you conceal carry its a definite advantage. I also firmly believe before anyone carries concealed if they haven't previously been trained with a firearm they should be whether they require a license or not
Or stretch pants like wranglers from WM with the zip up side pockets and a good gun belt from We The People. That's what I do and it's fine. Of course it still is uncomfortable for me because I'm skinny but the belt/ pant combo works great.
Tbh you need to train somewhere else. Train how you will wear it because you never know when the time will come. I think I get why they don't want you doing that, you could shoot yourself on the draw but it's a fkn gun and it's made for one thing. You could always practice your draw at home unloaded or perhaps get a mantis x so you don't have to go to the range as much to get training.
I've got a couple of thumb break and press fit retention. I use them to train others on weapons retention. SERPA Sportster, faf, you'll need to knock me out to take it. You can bind even a SERPA up by angle even if they can/know the mechanism.
I've tried outside and that only works during winter months when I have to wear a jacket all day without the opportunity to take it off. So inside works best because nothing really gets in the way and I can conceal-shoot hoops, go jogging. Hit the gym. Etc and no one ever knows the whole time I was packing heat. I'm all for concealment. But again that's just me and I have the perfect body type 5'3 135lbs Athletic build. I'm not like most younger males who wears skin tight clothes lol. 😂. I crack on my brother all the time about being a grown man wearing skin tight clothes. So weird like can you even breathe bro lol 😂😂. But seriously all jokes aside! Yeah just my two cents
IWB, Because: 1) I Like The Element Of Surprise. 2) OWB Feels Weird To Me. 3) I Carry EVERYWHERE. 4) According To Corporate Policy; Employees Are Prohibited From Carrying A Firearm While On Company Property Or Operating Any Of The Company's Vehicles.
And once again another video/article that doesn’t answer the ages old question but baits the viewer into watching with “which is better?” If the answer is always going to be ‘it depends on the user’s preferences’, why do this? No new info compared to previous discussions.
I find my jelly roll/muffin top holds my weapon more securely; however, the fat roll is just one more thing to overcome in addition to having to lift up a cover garment! 😁🤣
Why don’t you wear your gun is a holster like a Wild West gun fighter? Isn’t this what you want? You will just like your favorite movie heroes. Yule Brenner, Steve McQueen, others from the Magnificent Seven.
Which do you prefer? IWD or OWB

My almost always EDC is Ruger Max-9 Front Pocket carry > Sometimes Ruger Security 9 in Belly Band OR OWB Paddle.
IWB killed my back. That constant lateral pressure caused my hips to shift. I started dealing with a bulging disc. I’m sure there other factors, but once I went OWB, the back problems went away. It helped that Oklahoma became an open carry state.

I carry OWB. A light shirt or sweat shirt in cold weather work good for concealability. I'm in Oregon.
I carry owb during the colder months because I wear sweaters or hoodies so it's fairly easy to conceal. Because I wear baseball jerseys during the warmer months, I'll carry iwb because there's very little printing.
OWB in only ranges and camping. IWB for summer and winter EDC.
Having two pant sizes is frustrating for IWB holsters. To be comfortable, my pants has to be 2 inches larger in the waist for IWB holsters. Finding a good OWB holster contoured to the body is better, hidden with a shirt and jacket over it.
Iwb is my preference. I carry a glock 19 and glock 27 with factory extension mags. No complaints from me about concealing.
It's not as fast but for comfort I prefer my Vedder pocket holster in my front jean pocket. I have a SIG P365 and I have it in my pocket 16 hours a day, even lounging around at home.
Its not a case of which is better. Its about what is useful for/in a situation and what YOU have practiced for/with.
I'm 37, 5'9" and 140 lbs. Cross draw holsters for me.
Inside-my-pants holster! Really like the Alien Gear neoprene lined IWB. Have one that fits full size 10mm, too.
I'm also a big guy. So I like the pocket holster.
I have several holsters and I use both.
Inside for me
I prefer OWB but there's next to no holsters for P365 X Mac, and none that are Level 2 or better.
But during the summer, Hawaiian shirts are great for breaking up any printing.
Depends on how many layers of clothing Im wearing which depends on weather/time of year.
I don't know a lot but I like the surprise element.
Being in Florida kinda hard to layer clothes
LOL some of us don't care and go swimming carrying, IWB OWB doesn't matter.
IWB
I prefer inside but due to my current shape, outside is more practical.
I wear Outside. I had a hip replacement and inside irritates the scar.
Outside appendix carry for me.
For me IWB feels like Im wearing a cilice (self mortification garter); I think both are valid and you can make either work for you; just depends on your preference and situation.
IWB for 40 years with a full size with no problem whatsoever. Get a good gunbelt!!!!!
The alien gear holsters are the way to Go for inside the waist band

Pocket carry is the best. Second is OWB in terms of comfort.
Ione more inside the waistband holsters than outside. However, I have yet to find one that’s really comfortable.
Outside. Im normally wearing a hoodie anyways.
OWB every day in any weather. Have IWB, pocket, and shoulder holsters gathering dust in a closet. Wear the same clothes, golf shirts, every day. A jacket on top during cold weather. I carry IWB but due to my fatness I have to carry at the 4 o-clock position.
For comfort you can’t be Owb, but for tactical advantage IWB is the best option. I’d rather sacrifice some comfort any day
The one I do.

Prefer OWB
I’m a gordo, what should I do?
Daily Open Carry OWB since 1996.
OWB. I can't take a breath with appendix IWB.
IWB everyday!

OWB, don't have to buy bigger pants, can carry full size and then some.
Under arm holster
So, pit carry? 😏👍
