    We are lucky to have these witnesses still with us, and willing to share their memories and experiences while they still can. It gives a window into a past that most of us could never imagine, and these autobiographies create a very clear view of one person's 'slice of life' of a time in history and culture that truly changed the world, artistically and spiritually. I'm glad that these women are finally having their say, and we can finally hear their side of the story.
    If Jennifer Juniper was a song that you loved to hear, and wonder what she might be like; now you can know. :)

    She forgot one thing. The Mods were the ones who liked the Beatles. Rockers were Stones fans. They each dressed differently. Mods were dressing more like the Boyd sisters dressed. The later 60s changed it all though. I was a model a teen model in NYC and I was definitely Mod.

      My relatives and friends in England of the mid-1960s listened to bands such as The Birds (Ronnie Wood's old band) The Small Faces, The Who, The Dave Clark Five, Marianne Faithfull, The Kinks, et al. They also listened to Rory Storm and the Hurricanes (with Ringo Starr on drums) Vince Taylor, Johnny Kidd and The Pirates, et al. I've always considered myself to be a "Mocker" (a Mod and a Rocker). All the best to you, Jenny Boyd. Likewise, to you, Celeste.

    Jenny Boyd and her sister Patti are such unique witnesses to a very creative time in the 20th Century. I enjoyed listening to this so much. All of it. And I was heartened to hear that when Cynthia Lennon returned from holidays to find Yoko in her house with John, she wasn’t alone. She had the support of Jenny with her. Thank God! Becos it’s so shocking. That incident alone is why I have always disliked Yoko Ono. That and the fact she was always pretending to be the same age as the young ppl she was hanging out entirely with in the 60’s. She was way older than all of them. And that’s why she was so experienced in manipulation and manipulating John. And exploitation, faking it. Fact: Yoko was born 18 Feb 1933. Way older than John Lennon. He was born 9 Oct 1940. Yoko was whole different generation. She must be almost 90 now.

    • @KenTeel

      Yes, Yoko was an opportunist. She saw a vulnerability in John, and went for it. She was selfish and ambitious in doing that. Like you point out, her years of age, workded to give her an advantage in knowing how to work that situation. She's a manipulator. If I remember right, she had some times that were destitute, during WW2, and I think that forged her into a hard core opportunist. Her artwork was fradulent. It was more about manipulating other people throughs parlor tricks, than real art. John knew this, but liked her audaciousness. He wanted to be led by women. He was used to that, with his aunt. When he found a woman who was compliant (Cynthia) he found no challenge, and no compass direction from her. It's too bad. She was a nice lady, by all accounts.

That plays in the the equation for her personality make up, too. Thanks for getting back to me.

    Didn't know Peter Green started the band? Shouldn't be surprised really, a lot of people think the Buckingham/Nicks duo made them stars, but in 1969 Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac outsold the Beatles, "Albatross", "Man of the World", "Oh, Well", "The Green Manalishi", all written by Green, all top 10 hits, debut album "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" (the clue's in the title) made no.6 in the U.K. album chart out of nowhere in early '68. Green called it Fleetwood Mac because they were his favourite rhythm section when they were all John Mayall's backing band, but McVie didn't leave Mayall's Bluesbreakers initially because he was on a wage there and didn't want to risk leaving that to join an untried, untested new band. He eventually joined about four months after their Windsor festival debut in July '67. After Green left the Bluesbreakers he was replaced by 18 year-old Mick Taylor, who subsequently joined the Stones two years later, but a lot of people make the same mistake they made with Fleetwood Mac and think that Ronnie Wood joined the Stones when Brian Jones died. The Stones made their best records with Taylor "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out", "Sticky Fingers", "Exile on Main Street", "Goat's Head Soup", "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll", but I suppose Ronnie fits with the Stones' legend better because he's like a mini-Keith, whereas Mick Taylor is a genuinely brilliant guitar player ("The best musician we ever had", said Charlie Watts) Pattie and Jenny were there of course, they know what went down, shame Jenny had to put you right about the formation and early success of Fleetwood Mac though, everybody should know that anyway. Didn't know Green started it, that's shameful really, you should dig that stuff up and listen, then you'll hear whose vibrato Buckingham royally ripped off for his "own" guitar style (which is why Mick gave him the job)

    • @EastSide-qc5oy
      @EastSide-qc5oy 8 місяців тому +1

      A lot of people think the Buckingham Nicks duo made them stars because to a certain extent the Buckingham Nicks duo did make them stars, much more successful and internationally famous than they ever were prior. That’s simply undeniable. Obviously there was some great output by the band during the previous lineups but those lineups were constantly changing and the band never remained consistent enough as one lineup to become international superstars. That changed with the move to the U.S. and the addition of the new American members. Buckingham never ripped Peter Green off. Peter Green was an influence on a lot of musicians. That’s not him being ripped off. Buckingham earned his status as having his own distinct style and that style began before he had anything to do with the band.

    Good interview. I was disappointed though because it's an autobiography it seems, and I'm just not that interested in her very much, but in her musician experiences.
    I bought her book "It's Not Only Rock and Roll" which is not about her, but her interviews with many rock professionals on the subject of, inspiration of music performance and writing. That's a great read if that sort of thing interests you. It's one of the best I've read on the subject.

    Interesting.. her moving to Los Angeles (Horray for Hollywood), the home of opportunity for people, especially women, of even the shallowest of developed talents. Her story suggests the when these "opportunities" didn't pan out, she joined the real world in getting training, by going back to college That was a smart move. It's good to have a college degree in a competitive world (and good for development of the mind.) . Now, I'm speculating on some of her history, so I could be wrong on this, but her words suggest what I've said. Interestingly, her qualifications for joining The Beatles and others, in India was: ".... gee... she looks great... " Looking cute was all that was needed by these women. PS: I notice that number of accolades from females, in the comments section. Women are always quick to admire, and celebrate mediocre women, who end up in celebrity positions. Interestingly the only requirement of women, for being with rock stars was to look cute and be a f**k bunny. That was it.

      @@websurfer5772 Well, if women just want to be f*ck bunnies, then going with just looks, instead of developing their minds (in addition to looking good, works.) I'd say that picking bimbos, whose only qualification are their looks, is a real reflection on the men that pick them, too. Eric and George didn't require much beyond basic gratification from their women. Your statement "Looks are always what matter the most for us gals here on planet earth" sadly is true. Once again this is a reflection on men, though. They don't require much more from their women (only the smart men, do.) You'll notice that there is a fairly high percentage of college degreed men (Bachelors or above) that have women who are also educated. You asked me if I just arrived. Well I'd answer that question: It took me a while to figure out just how boring it was to be with a women who was beautiful, but hadn't developed her mind. So, in that regard, yes, it took me a while to "arrive." Life is too short to put up with women who look good, but are boring. Intelligent women (and good looking), who have taken the time, energy, and ambition to educate themselves are a completely different experience to be around, compared to just good looking women, who haven't bothered to develop their minds. If man is with a woman, who is a bore, he'd better have a TV set near by, so that she can watch TV (and not have to try to have something to talk about, aka boring conversation) after bedroom fun. A man doesn't need that with an intelligent woman. The conversation will automatically be generated, and quite likely it will be interesting.

      I grew up in the 1950s when it seemed like 9 out of 10 elderly women wore their grey or white hair tightly curled in what I think of as the “old lady poodle perm”. Awful, imo. We Baby Boom women have largely retained a preference for the straight hair that came into fashion in the ‘60s, and frankly I think it helps an older woman avoid looking absolutely ancient. If you don’t want to look like you’re trying too hard to look super-young, you can tie it back or wear it in a French twist.

Being older does not mean you have lost your beauty, it has just changed. Only thing that helps everyone on Zoom is to put the camera up at eye level or above; if you are looking down on it it is generally less flattering than if the light and focus is on the top part of your face.
