SHAYLA'S HOT DOG BUNS RECIPE
(start at least a day in advance)
1 cup active, bubbly starter
1 cup distilled or spring water
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1/3 cup oil, palm fruit shortening, butter, tallow, etc...
3 1/2 cups flour
Mix ingredients and let sit 20 minutes. Stretch and fold. Repeat rest and stretch and folds. Refrigerate for a minimum of 12 hours. Remove and let sit on counter approximately 2 to 3 hours. Stretch and fold. Let rest an hour. Divide into about 80 to 90 gram size balls. Form, and place on parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Let double (can take a few hours).
Bake at 400F until internal temp reaches 290F.

Cabbage Salad Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 head cabbage, cut into bite size pieces
1 1/2 cup feta or cheddar cheese chunks (or a combo of both)
1/2 cup olives
8 sliced cooked and crumbled bacon-or more if you like
2 tablespoons capers
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes in olive oil
Dressing;
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
1 teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon minced fresh
Instructions
Mix ingredients and enjoy!

Looks like everyone was well fed and happy on the fourth! I laughed at the voice imitation haha. That was cute. Love that you have a little fire outside too. What a great way to raise your children! Having a homestead and a fire and a home that God provided for you to raise them in. :)

We usually make a mustard potato salad. I put mustard and pickle juice over my hot potatoes. Then after they’ve cooled in the fridge, I add everything else. Saw it on America’s test kitchen years ago.

I loved this video, from start to finish. I recently learned to hard boil my eggs in the instant pot, cracking them in a bowl first. I place the bowel in the pot on a trivit and one cup of water in the pot. They come out solid but soft. Then I just chop them up.
Something keeps calling me to your channel. To be honest I keep ignoring it. I have six children and am a homeschool mom but we have stepped away from homesteading and I am working as a nurse full time and my hubby went back to ministry. Great video .. will check out your other videos

I find using the immersion blender method for mayo extremely easy as well (also i don't have a food processor). Then I can leave it in the jar I mixed it in.

The 'german' hot dog onions would be great with some celery seed tossed in them! My daughter sold 'pet rocks' at my farmers market stand years ago. She just painted rocks plain colors & had google eyes hot glued onto them. The customer could then use a sharpie to draw the rest of the face on. She made more $ than I did some days. LOL
I have NEVER forgotten to eat!!! I actually have to eat at very specific times (routine) or I get HANGRY & very mean. You could set a clock by my meal times & woe to anyone who makes it late LOL.
I told my very worried neighbor that I feel like something is broken in our country. But the only thing I can do about it is to fix what is going on in my 'household'; to raise patriotic, responsible citizens (my kids) & do what I feel the Lord calls me to do, which is to take care of my family & home. It starts with our homes, once we get those in order then we can work on our street by loving our neighbors & building community. I told her that the care & concern I see from her about being home with her kids & trying to take care of her marriage gives me hope for our country. Now instead of me being the only one on the street with these goals we have another family to build off of. It is pretty inspiring.
