Wow, this review is super great, man. It gives me a chance to see every corner of the guitar, feeling like the guitar is physically in my arms. Been looking for something like this until I found your video. I have a crazy thirst for Triple O-16 streetmaster, especially its distressed look. Pricewise, $2000 is quite huge for Vietnamese average income (approx. $600 per month). However, I will start a saving plan and hopefully I can get it after 2 years. I will come back here again to let you know how I play and love it then. 😊 Thanks again.
Thanks for the review and beautiful playing: I was set on the 000-15m streetmaster, now considering this one. Have yet to find a review comparing the two; would love that comparison vid and especially to play them both in person in a sitting. Thanks for doing what you do.
Nice playing and picking. Was hoping somebody would do a video on this guitar and was hoping that it was more like a triple low scale length thank you for showing this video. Keep on playing
Nothing can beat the sound of a Martin at first I was gonna get a Taylor but something told me to get a d-18 also have d-28 the two will never leave my side
So, how has it been, since you got it? You've had it a month, can you tell me your thoughts on it now? I just ordered a used one, but played one at my local GC, and did not like the one in the store. I ordered one anyway because so many people have posted videos praising them. I will have 45 days to make up my mind.
Very nice. I have the 000-18 like yours. Are these totally different sounding guitars or similar. And do they play vey much alike? Definitely a difference in woods..
Definitely have a different sound. The 18 is more mellow and warm (more bass). They plan pretty similar but the 18 has the really smooth I would say polished neck. The 16's neck is a bit more of a "raw" wood feeling. Still smooth but you can just feel more of the pores. I actually like it a lot too.
@@robbycarrascocurious how this guitar has opened up over the year? I know the Adirondack spruce has the vts but I heard it only does so much on the time part.
Actually I tried the 000-18 and 000-16 sm in store, and liked the 000-16 sm more. I was searching for a guitar to play acoustic blues fingerstyle, and somehow the streetmaster had the sound which I was looking for. Maybe it is all about the music style you want to play and your expectations, than objectively "good" of "bad"? Just a thought

@@BubnHubn I also own a OMC-35E, a 000-28 Moderndeluxe, a J-16E 12 string and a 000C-15E with which I’m very happy , the 000-16E granadillo was a great guitar, the 000-16 streetmaster sounds more like a cigarbox with strings on it.
@@ceesplomp742 That is really interesting how you manage to take solid woods like spruce and rosewood and make it sound like a cigar box? Because the guitar shape is pretty standard, it is not really flatter than other 000 sized guitars. I feel that it has reach overtones because of rosewood, and punchiness because of cooked adi spruce. It has a certain flatness to the sound as well, but that is actually what some people may be looking for if they want to play early blues like in the style of Robert Johnson...
@@ceesplomp742 It is just an opinion. Maybe I made an mistake and bought a bad guitar for 2300 Euro, here in Europe. I am not a big guitar expert, but I tried tried different guitars in store, even the more expensive Taylors. I do not know. Maybe if I get more experienced I will have the answer in the years to come if it was a bad buy or not in the end...
I went into Guitar Center to buy this guitar....but after playing two 16's against a magnificent example of the 000-15M Streetmaster...I chose the 15 over the 16's...the 15M sounded better to me, especially for recording...also the way the 16's looked was kinda weird with the relic finish showing bare all white in spots! The 15 looked darker and even, then sounded so much less glassy especially comparing the highs that chimed and present mids, with that dry warm bass of mahogany! And I saved three hundred bucks and got a decent hard case to boot as opposed to a gig case.
Awesome. Those 15’s are awesome too. All good points on that. I love them both I guess it just depends on what you’re going for. Can never go wrong with a Martin!
@@robbycarrasco yeah & thanks for doing that. Cause it really is confusing. I just ordered the Guild M120 from Sweetwater fully set up & will be trying their plekd technology seems every guitar player loves that setup. So far, every reviews been good about this Martin Streetmaster 000-16 tho.
@@damonlove8 For what its worth, I just had my '98 Martin HD-28 pleked. It was in need of fret leveling from divots, and the shop talked me into it. Best 200 dollars I ever spent. Quite the difference with the proper setup. Plays like an electric with 11's on it!
@@wildcard9724 right? I love my Guild that was setup and Plekd by Sweetwater. Now Im actually thinking of sending all my guitars to Sweetwater to have them all plekd pro setup. Bcause its really worth it in my opinion.
Maybe in that way, with Lowe priced guitars, but Martin will never struggle. And usually 16s do come with a hard case. Pretty sure this was intentional. A hard case isn't expensive
Well considering that you’re getting a Martin with Adirondack and rosewood for $2000 I’m assuming this was cost cutting on their part. I agree I’m personally not a fan but if it means a cheaper price point for me, I’m ok with it
@@robbycarrasco it does give protection w/binding and yes Martin does have this issue w/binding, but to get a torrefied(Vintage tone system top)addy top/rosewood back/sides for under 2500 is an excellent deal. Yes! In person the 16 is very punchy and loud. But you can't beat that clean sound of the 18.

It sounds great. Thanks for sharing your guitar with us. I hate those Martin gig bags though. I had one for a different guitar and it barely fit.
Thanks! Didn't see much info on it so I figured I'd share. It sounds even better in person.

The 16 sounded better than the 18. I had an 18 and it wasn’t very good!
Whats a good hard case for this?
it’s confusing how on Martin’s Official website it says 25.4 scale length but on Sweetwater website its 24.9 scale length.
Right! Strange. That's why I wanted to show the actual measurement.

Ha! Looks like it. But they actually did bake the top to give it the aged sound.
I wonder why this model gets a soft case when others get hard shell.
I thought the 16 was rosewood b/s?
For $2,000.00 it should come with a hardshell case. Eastman guitars are beating the Martin and Taylor guitar companies out this way!

Love 000 18 much much better
even though it says 24.9 scale length it joins at the body by the 14 fret not the 12 like a " true" 000 body style so is it an OM or?
