  • Martin's popular StreetMaster® finish was introduced into their solid mahogany 15 Series in 2017 as a respectful nod to the working musician. Now Martin has applied this beautifully distressed finish to East Indian rosewood and Adirondack spruce for the first time, and it is a fine addition to our 16 Series. The Adirondack spruce top also includes our proprietary VINTAGE TONE SYSTEM® (VTS), which ages the wood for a truly vintage tone that you’d normally have to wait many decades to enjoy. If you love the look of the StreetMaster finish but want the bigger and bassier sound you get from highly coveted East Indian rosewood and Adirondack spruce, this guitar was made for you. Whether your next gig is at the historic Ryman Auditorium or a day of busking in the big city, the StreetMaster gives you the look and feel of a well-worn instrument, with a limited lifetime warranty and the superb playability of a new guitar. This model comes with a soft-shell case, making it easy to take it to the streets!
    * Adirondack spruce top offers unparalleled projection, volume, and headroom
    * East Indian rosewood back and sides produce an overtone-laden tone with an impressively powerful low-end response
    * VTS aged top for a well-aged tone right out of the box
    * Smooth rosewood fingerboard is a joy to play on
    * Scalloped bracing for a lively, open tone
    * 24.9-inch scale length for a round, lush sound with an easy playing feel
    * Comfortable Modified Low-oval neck profile for a high-performance playing experience
    * Wide 1.75-inch nut width is ideal for both strummers and fingerstyle players
    * Beautifully worn-in Streetmaster finish
    * Golden Age Relic nickel tuners for an old-school flair and rock-solid tuning stability

    BEAUTIFUL!!!
Last year I bought a Martin 00-15m, basically because of the fact that I fell in love with your playing on that guitar when you demoed it.
This video may very well lead me to the purchase of the 000-16 Streetmaster. What a sound! If this guitar had a gloss finish, some fancy inlay and binding, we would have to pay twice as much for a guitar with specs like these. Adirondack, VTS, scalopped bracing and the SOUND!!!
And I happen to love 'simple' looking guitars with no bling bling. For the exact same reason I play electrics like the old style Telecasters or Gibson Juniors.
Anyway, I'm in love again. You did it again. I love the songs you write to display the quality of the sound of the instruments you demo. Thanks! ❤️

I own the 000-16 Streetmaster guitar. It is everything that you said. Wonderful timbre colours, sustain, flavors! I did take 000-16 streetmaster guitar to my luthier and had him switch out the bleached bone nut and saddle for the unbleached bone nut and saddle for a more fuller sound! And I had installed the LR Baggs Anthem. Use the ebony wood bridge pins for warmer woody tone. Got rid of the soft case. Bought the Martin 330 hard case. Beautiful playing, thank you.

Jon, great video as usual 😊. I had one of these for a few days. I restrung it, set the neck relief and lowered the bridge a bit. Loved almost everything about it….the look, comfort, neck profile, it was loud. I just couldn’t get use to a resonance in the upper frequency that irritated me somI returned it. I could see most people liking it.

the 16 series is probably one of the best martins one can buy imho, everyone needs something different I get it but this series is seriously legit. the ambertone 16 special rosewood from a few years ago is really really nice.

Another reason for (all of the) StreetMasters' great tone is that the satin/worn finish is thinner than the standard finish on other 15/16/17 Series guitars. I had a 000-15 StreetMaster that sounded wonderful right out of the case, unfortunately, my old hands didn't get along with the MLO neck and 1 11/16" nut... so I returned it. A different neck shape, or wider (1 3/4") nut, and I would have definitely kept it.

This sounds really good when you play it, but I have seen other reviews where it sounds abnormally bright or just dull. Love the look. Looking for all-rounder for single note playing and occasional strumming and a few gigs a year so need to add a pickup. Still undecided but might be nice with an LR Baggs Duo. Like the smaller size for the ergonomics. Mostly solo play. What would you get in this price range for an all-rounder?

Do you know if they have or will have a non-street master version of the 000-16?
Also would love if you could do a side by side next to a 000-17. I don’t see anything like that on UA-cam. For that matter a comparison of all the 16, 17, 18, and 28 would be amazing!

G'day Lah, :) I have the 000-15M Street master & am thinking of getting one of these 000-16 streetmasters. Would you say the 16 is less bluesy / less warm or much brighter sounding than the mahogany -15M. I don't want to get something too close to the one I already have.

You play so well that anything sounds good from you. And I think your reviews are top notch. As for the guitar though...meh. It looks like a movie prop. The distressing seems to follow no real wear pattern we would see on an honest guitar. I think this whole aged finish thing is just a way for the company to save money on the build. But if they can get folks to buy into the fad, then more power to them. As always, you are great with all your videos.
