Some early attack gems if your build isn't dex heavy can be very good for keeping your damage up. If the enemy has too much defense compared to your attack, you will have a high chance for "glancing blows" idk what they're actually called in game. It depends on how many classes you pick that come with an extra attack modifier from dex. There is some baseline, but not much. same goes for vitality modifiers for example. If you somehow picked no classes with a vitality bonus (you do have one) flat max health gems are good. Defensive stats in this game are good, and for hardcore pretty much required. But damage is it's own defense, too, because you'll have to spend less time fighting stuff. If your character has a problem, you can USUALLY atleast partially fix it by slapping some gems in stuff. Oh also you GOTTA milk healthstones. It saves on gems, it saves your life. Lastly, I didn't see you run into this, but some environmental damage in this game is a % of your max health. If you got used to chugging potions to tank for example fire or lava, massively increasing your health CAN get you killed. You'll still overall be more tanky with more health, but the health potion vs environmental damage equation will change.
Every time you dig into an unknown depth fall, I hold my breath. If someone starts a bingo card of how Alias kills his hardcore characters, fall damage needs to be on there!

I think I just failed to understand which ones you're talking about... OH you mean the healing stones? I keep wondering what they're about but that would make the most sense.
i don't know if you know this: for sand or mud block or any blocks that has gravity falling, when they fall you can fall with it/them, example: big deep cave or building high just drop/build a sand or mud block so it falls then jump on it wihle it fall until you are down. didn't had any issue with it.
I'm loving this game and the vids! Dumb question but what's the shortcut key for transferring a stack of items into a chest you're looking in?? I see all the shortcut buttons, but shift click and ctrl click doesn't work for transferring a stack into a chest and it's driving me nuts!
Oh, watching you fight this skeleton.. Melee mobs are really weak to you running to the other side of them before they can turn around. They also have less defensive stats when you hit them from behind i think. If you time it right they will miss you too.
