A Leaf Twig Shave

- I've been asked by a few people if I could not use my Occam's Razor and just please use the Twig Leaf. So today I did just that. I wanted to do it from the standpoint of preparing the DE blade, loading the razor, and then setting it up to shave.
I've done an unboxing for the leaf a year ago and ever since then people always ask me about it. I'm not really sure what the mystery is all about. Maybe it's the crazy way the Twig opens up the first time you do it can be a head-scratching experience. The reason for the excessive turns to open the razor fully is that it needs to first raise the head plate so you can place a blade inside. It also moves the plate out of the way to make it easier to do. This is why twisting to open is a longer process than say a normal DE butterfly razor.
When shaving with this razor I am not happy with the small area it covers with each stroke. The single edge I normally use has a blade at least 3x larger in length which provides a greater shaving area thus finishing quicker with fewer strokes.
As far as closeness goes it did an ok job but in comparison still falls short of my Occam's razor and this has nothing to do with shaving soap or blades since I use the same Personna Blue in all my DE razors I know what to expect.
In today's shave, I used Spices from the sea which for me has a wonderful old spice-like scent. I've been told that it's pretty much spot on.

You really don't have to open the twig all the way up in order to load the blade. I only open mine about half way and have plenty of room to remove the old and install the new.
Good to know Alan but when you only open it halfway the head does not move out of the way so you are making it more difficult to place a blade in but do whatever works for you. Thanks for watching

For Netflix should try Wednesday it's pretty good. Also good shave never have used dolce and gabbana the one after shave might have to get some.

Excellent shave Don. The twig razor is mainly meant for trimming such as the moustache and sideburn areas which is what I used mine for. They do have a more agressive version of it called the thorn. The only reason I'm not using my leaf and twig is because my beard is so tough now that I'm burning through blades like crazy. In the past, I would get around 6 shaves on a Feather or Bolzano Superinox blade. Now Im doing good to get maybe 2. My Gillette Skinguard struggles. brand new blade with only one shave on the Skinguard and it wouldn't hardly go through my beard at all.
Good information all around Stephen but the website says nothing about this razor being meant for a trimmer only. it sold as the milder, gentler version. A great choice for sensitive skin, or lighter hair. Thats not really describing a trimmer. Be that as it may it not a bad razor I will try the Thorn and do a review of it for 2023. IIRC the plastic twig prototype was meant as a trimmer back when it came bundled with the Leaf. Now that the twig is a standalone razor it made sense to update the description of the razor.
