The green ormer a northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean species of sea snail / abalone collected as food by locals on the Channel Islands. There are strict laws on when the gastropod can be collected and they can only be harvested from the shore. No diving for ormers is allowed and a minimum size limit of 8cm in Guernsey and 9cm in Jersey. Where possible rocks should be turned back. Frequent checks are made on foragers by the Sea Fisheries on all species gathered. A full list of size limits and days ormers can be gathered may be found in the local tide tables.

Nice day out ❤
That looks amazing but I have to admit I've never tried them but given the chance I would
They taste amazing
If you flatten the round end of your ormer hook you can then use it to prise off the ormer before hooking it out . Jersey way!!!!! LOL
LoL The outer edge is flattened :)
You are very good at cricking. If i'm saying that right?
Cricking yes. Not as good as my mother used to be
You guys ever seen the size of Californian Abalone ?
Yes I have shells from 2 different huge abalones. I will show them one day on a video
Almost makes me want to put Guernsey on my bucket list to try ormers. Probably couldn't order them in a restaurant though, I'm disabled so I couldn't forage myself. I'd love to try them some day.
It be nicer with mussy peas ❤
