Hi Marie. I have been making these Russian Teacakes for probably 40 plus years! Not even sure where the original recipe came from but it is an absolute favorite of my family including my sister-in- law who lives in Arizona. I have in the past mailed them to her but here of late she’s been able to come to St. Louis for Christmas so she gets them hot out of the oven! I’ve never heard of the chocolate version so looking forward to trying them. Thanks
Haha I’m making these again since we ate ‘‘em all. The balances of flavors with the coco powder yum! I made the non-choc version too and those are delicious as well
Our family have made these cookies for at least 75 years with a little variation. My grandmother used walnuts and called them snowballs! I have her hand written recipe card, it’s a treasure!
Thank you, they look delicious. The vanilla-nuts version of those cookies have different names here in Mexico, I was a little confused when I saw you calling them wedding cookies; but I think I understand the idea now. I learned to call them "besos de novia" something like "bride's kisses". I appreciate you sharing sweets from Mexico. Greetings from Morelia México
I love these cookies made in the traditional way, but would definitely want to try the chocolate version, as I love Chocolate! The fun add- on's for grandkids helping out would be great too! Thank you!
Hi Kathy! I love the traditional way too 🥰 So yummy and simple. Now I’m craving the chocolate version. 🤪 I go back and forth haha. Thanks for watching. Hugs, Marie
I’ve been making these “Pecan Sandies,” every Christmas for 55 years & I use my mother in law’s recipe as she made them before me. It’s my family’s favorite Christmas cookie! ❤
I made these today without the chocolate. Chocolate would be good. Also, most kinds of nuts and warm spices would work. They're so easy and delicious. Thank you sharing Marie.
Wow, I think these would be right up my alley! I always make the traditional Russian Teacakes but I'm going to add these to the list. Thanks so much, Marie!
Hi Marie, 1st time seeing you. I always wanted to try the chocolate ones. We've been making the regular ones every Christmas for over 60 years. We called them Butterballs. The recipe was from a little cook booklet from the gas company. Maybe because we had a gas stove in the 60's. The recipe called fir granulated sugar in the dough instead of conf. sugar, & we chose to use fresh walnuts (my Mother would crack them), & always rolled them twice in powdered sugar (while they were still very warm, but don't burn your fingers! I LOVE your sweet, beautiful dog! Merry Christmas!
Thank you for posting this recipe. I would love to try these with the chocolate and cinnamon. Something different. I also love poodles and those doodles. Such sweet and smart dogs.
I usually double dust in powdered sugar. I make them in advance and freeze in zip bags with a little more powdered sugar inside. Cookies must be totally cool.
Hi! Great tip! Thank you! Do you thaw the cookies on the countertop? Some other viewers were asking about freezing them, so I’d love your input! Thanks for watching ❤️, Marie
These look great! I’m going to show this to my 14 year old son. He loves baking ( I think it’s only to eat 😂). It also seems like an easy recipe would be able to do by himself.
Hi Kelley! Thanks for watching! I’m excited for him to try this one! It is very forgiving without many ingredients, so a good one for kids to practice with. Good for you for letting him experiment in the kitchen 😊 Hugs, Marie

Not a chocolate lover, so cannot imagine anything better than the original wedding cookies, which we call snowballs in our house and love best made with almond extract.
We always called them Russian Tea cookies but at this time of year we said, Christmas snowballs! I don’t care what they are called just so long as I have 12 dozen all to myself lol!!❤

@@marieskitchen thank you! I went looking through your videos and couldn’t find. I realized it’s a shame UA-cam doesn’t have a way for you guys to catalog. The good part is I found a couple recipes to try. Appreciate your hard work!
I make two versions, one with green sprinkles in the powdered sugar and red in the powered sugar. The green ones are either nuts due to my son having nut allergy. The red ones have walnuts.
Never considered a chocolate version! Some people call them pecan dreams. Do you mind my asking what type of support brackets you used on your open shelving?
Hi Karen! Pecan dreams, love it! Thanks for watching 😊 Here’s the info on the shelves from my dad (he designed the kitchen): Heavy duty galvanized shelf brackets from Lowes. The bottom legs are recessed into the drywall and attached directly to the studs and covered with a quarter inch thick drywall patch Hope that helps! ❤️, Marie
Marie, I have been making your Mexican Wedding Cookies recipe from your video of over 3 years ago on a regular basis. We call them "Marie's Cookies." 🤣We love them over any other cookie!! I've made these since I was 4 years old. At least I shaped them into crescents. As I'm now 80 thats a lot of crescents.
Yes, do red velvet cake! I think I would prefer the plain Mexican cookie but roll in melted chocolate.
Okay will do! Thanks for watching and for your note 🥰 Oh that is a wonderful idea! The plain version dipped in chocolate! Yummmm ❤️, Marie
