    This is beautiful. So many close plays. A half a foot more one way and it's a hit. Hanley is a half a foot quicker and he gets an infield hit. The ump decides to call a borderline 3-2 pitch a ball and it's gone. This is why baseball is the best sport in the world.

    • @rutgers2825
      @rutgers2825 9 років тому +5

      in this day of media, unfortunately that rule was erased from the unwritten rule book. Back in the day, the announcers wouldn't dare mention the words "perfect game" or even "no-hitter" until the final 0 was put on the scoreboard.

    • @defjamluigi
      @defjamluigi 9 років тому +5

      Impulsive Wandering The 'no mentioning a perfect game/no hitter' rule has always applied to the dugout. And even then, it's been broken before (David Cone mentioned it to David Wells when Wells was pitching a perfect game). When Vin Scully called Sandy Koufax's perfect game he led off the 9th by mentioning he had a perfect game through 8 innings.

    I read that once he came to Philly, he added that split-changeup to his arsenal and his just started overwhelming hitters all over again. I have to wonder what his career would've been like if he had found that pitch earlier in his career.

    • @redbearmedia
      @redbearmedia 10 років тому

      If he would of added it in earlier it would of been rougher.. Cause starting out you gotta focus on it and work with it.. After a few years batters would know what was going on. But with going to Philly for 2yrs.. (I think) it would of taken longer to get the focus of the batters.. But that's what I'm thinking..

    Roy Halladay, I believe, is the only pitcher in major league history to have a perfect game in the regular season and no-hitter in the playoffs, both during the same season.

    Even Marlins fans tipped a hat that night! #20 Perfect Game Pitched! A Feather not many have perched. PIP MR. Halladay

    This game, right here is the clear defining difference between him and Adam Wainwright. People keep saying Wainwright's numbers are similar to Halladay, but Roy threw a PERFECT GAME, as well as a playoff no-hitter, neither of which did Wainwright do.
