I've been saying this for awhile. People sleep on Angle because his wwe character was so goofy, but if he went mma, dude would have been an absolute monster
Brock is an absolute freak that proved his background as an incredibly talented and *real* wrestler was enough to be coached up on every other aspect of MMA to a level where he could get any guy to the ground and beat his face in.
I've been a fan of Mir when he beat Wess Sims twice and took the belt from Tim Sylvia. Has always seemed to be a down to earth guy and a phenomenal talent. His striking became a "little" predictable later in his career, but always came to fight - without question.
The guy Stephen Neil he mentioned in the beginning of the video is a big part of MMA history. I live in Boston and I met him once doing work at his house when he played for the Patriots. The guy was massive human being. Then I spoke with him for a few minutes when the job was finished. I asked him about Kurt Angle. He said he would RAG DOLL Kurt. When he told me that, I kinda thought he was joking but the look in his 👀 told me, he was dead serious. Years later, I realized he wasn't lying. Stephen Neil could have been UFC champion . Alot of UFC vets are coming out now saying his name. It should tell you what a BMF Stephen Neil was by nobody EVER mentioning his name until they all retired from MMA.
I have always thought the same about Kurt. That guy was a gild medalist wrestler that didnt cut weigh to fight smaller guys. He wrestled bigger guys and even in football Kurt was a moster linebacker in highschool and could have done it in college but decided to focus on the Olympics. If kurt trained MMA he would have destroyed alot of people especially in the late 90's to mid 2000s when he was still going hard and hadn't broke his kneck another 4 times.
Not going to lie, I was rooting for Brock in that fight. I love how Frank talks about the whole thing though. He is a stand up dude, and totally correct. It probably does to some degree but it completely validates Brock's wrestling which is what he was trying to tell Matt about. Brock showed what tremendous size and strength combined with a top level wrestling pedigree can do.
Frank, great guy, living in Vegas and training, I met him before his accident, coming back from that is a testament to his strength , warrior mindset
Frank looked like Joseph Merrick after that 2nd fight!
Must of felt like being drowned stuck under that version of Brock! 😬
Fra k mir only started talking about lesnar being legit comeption after he got humbled
And after he stopped getting paid to play a character to promote the sport.
That second fight was the only time It actually bothered me watching frank take those last punches. Its great to find these Frank interviews.Big fan
Wasnt given the credit…pfft frank you didnt give brock any credit back then
Humble good interview from Frank. I like him more now. 👊🏻
*What Pissed Brock Off Was Frank Acting Like Brock's Whole Wrestling Career Came From WWF... Go Watch The Countdown To That Rematch It Shows What Upset Brock & It Was When Frank & His Camp Was In A Ring Doing WWF Moves Saying "This Is What Brock Is Doing To Train To Fight Me".*
oh I remember that very well... so naturally I was laughing my butt off then when in the 2nd fight Brock colored Frank's face with all shades of red and purple and made him look like a tra
ny ho\oker
Both fights were closer than you think: in the first fight they were stood up because Brock was hitting the back of Frank's head but after that Brock was unable to finish Frank and Frank was looking for the submission even before the kneebar. In the second fight Frank hit Brock a few times which made Brock flinch but Frank did the jumping knee which didn't work and Brock ground and pounded him.
? The 2nd fight Brock almost killed him.
Haha. There was nothing close about the 2nd fight. That was a one sided beat down.
Mr Mir was such a great talent to watch, he could strike, he could defend and oh my god could he ever submit dudes
Brock did more damage than the motorcycle accident 😂
FACT😂
No, he really didn't.
Respect for him paying his respect to a different form ❤ and these guys real achievements
I love Frank mir, he played the villain but after his fights with most opponents he shows genuine respect and concern
Kurt would’ve been awesome to see in the UFC. Mir giving Lesnar respect in his later years.
My son used to have night terrors about me fighting Brock. 😂 True story though
I respect Frank for not eating sour grapes. In the rematch he got an absolute beat-down. But here he is not trash talking or being a poor sport. Respect Mr. Mir.
Serious props to frank Mir, I wasn't expecting this or him to be as analytical as he was here
I had no idea Frank Mir was so articulate. Hes a savage in the ring... but a gentleman outside it. Liked his comments on Lesnar... who I also wasnt aware was a legitimate wrestler until well into his MMA career.
Frank gives credit where credit is due very clearly a class act
New fans won't understand just how good mir was
No one counted Frank out the first fight. They counted Brock out not mir
Mir himself was mocking Lesnar's status as a pro wrestler leading up to their rematch, when Brock caved his face in
YES HE WAS
.BROCK TOOK THE HORSESHOE OUT OF HIS AZZ THOUGH 😅😅
100% he was. Maybe that was just show boating on Franks part I I 100% think he didn’t take Brock seriously after that first fight and got his face smashed in. The funniest part is Brock was dominating him in that first fight till the ref saved him and stood them up.
Poor Frank got beat into hamburger helper the second fight.
The guy that got me into MMA. Frank is a legend🙏
I've been a fan of Mir when he beat Wess Sims twice and took the belt from Tim Sylvia. Has always seemed to be a down to earth guy and a phenomenal talent. His striking became a "little" predictable later in his career, but always came to fight - without question.
brocks speed with his size was insane
would love to see frank and brock have a regular conversation one day
Does paddy still fight?
Patty with the Liverpool Beatles accent lol.👌🏼
He's from Liverpool 🤷♂️ and it's Paddy not Patty
If I could have a drink with any fighter it'd be Frank. He's always had a great demeanor and seems like a great all around guy.
His combine numbers were off the chart aswell in the NFL check those out he had some kind of test tube level results
Frank with his brand new pair of headphones
Love both guys so much that rivalry was awesome. What an amazing time to be watch UFC.
Fun fact: After a long night of drinking, everything Paddy says sounds coherent.
I was going for Mir all the way. Glad he went 1-1.
Frank is awesome. One of my favorite MMA fights was Frank vs Nogeira. Frank was one scary Heavyweight.
Is it me or does frank mir progressively look more and more like a Greek mythology Minotaur as he ages? Guys a legend and a brilliant mind regardless.
Very classy human and a savage to boot. Frank will always be my favorite fighter. He took Brock’s whooping like a King!
Frank was a absolute machine before his accident and even after some of the nastiest finishes.. I have seen him snap so many peoples limbs..
Mir knows he got LUCKY 1st time around
Frank is my all time favourite fighter, love this guy
Imagine being at a UFC and you hear Kurt Angle's intro start
Never count Frank out.
Frank Mir was one of my favorites back in the day.
I would love to see Frank on the PPV commentary team.
Where does that guy's accent come from?
Not going to lie, I was rooting for Brock in that fight. I love how Frank talks about the whole thing though. He is a stand up dude, and totally correct. Look up some of Brock's matches from his wrestling career, He was pretty stupendous. Honestly, I was just hoping that he would stick around in MMA. Unfortunately it didn't happen.
Was Baumgartner out of the pic by this time? Cuz he's probably low key greatest American wrestler of all times. Or Verne Gagne.
Well,Frank can say that he is 1-1 with a human horse.
USADA ruined Brocks MMA career lol
knowing all the beatings he took on his head i am shocked to hear Mir today speaking so well, i'm not even joking, hear any former UFC fighter to get an idea
If Brock Lesnar didn’t know how to fight, his strength and size alone would be enough to at least clinch and hold a person to make them ineffective for almost a round
Brock’s a real-life Xmen character Juggernaut
Frank mir is a legend and an absolute stud.
It's so true. Me and all my dumb teenage friends thought it was an MMA fighter vs a fake wrestler guy. Sucks for Mir at the time, but I think we all know by now that it was as legit as it gets.. What a legend Mir is.
This title seems backwards because the real shock was Frank Mir submitting Brock Lesnar in that first fight. Mir is one of the baddest dudes ever but Brock had the hype and everyone was surprised after Lesnar tapped.
