I've been riding my Aventon Cordoba for over 3 years now with over 10000km and the frame holds up as strong as ever! Love the bike, what a joy to ride every time. It's a real shame that Aventon abandoned fixed bikes altogether and are now focusing only on e-bikes :(

I'm from Austria (not Australia) and I bought my Aventon from a shop in Vienna. You can't buy their bikes online in Europe but there are far more dealers than they show on their homepage. Btw as you probably have seen in the results of the last rhc, the Aventon factory team is on the first place overall. Also my friends told me not to buy an Aventon, because they said that there are better bikes for that price (like Colossi or Dolan). Still did it and I'm absolutely happy with it.

    Hello.
I've been watching you're videos off an on for a while. I've had my eye on the Kilo TT as my first fix gear since I've heard you mention it. As I was getting closer to purchasing I was looking at the Kilo WT. I liked the green color, the wider tire clearance, and the handle bar set up.
However, today I just bought a Fuji Feather. I should be getting it Friday and I'm pumped. I got the green one, and I'm going to run it stock except for adding some leather wraps on the handle bars for more grip. Brown to match the seat keeping it proper. I'm also going to run it single speed at first, so much for fixie points.
The biggest reason I ended up going for the Feather was the personalized experience for buying it at a bike shop from someone who knew what he was talking about. He made sure I got the right size and will build it to my specifications free of charge. I ended up paying $490 for the bike and the straps.
Thanks for your content, it's been a great help.
God bless you and Merry Christmas.
I'll send some picks after I get it.

I've been on the Aventon Cordoba 2017 LE since it came out and I LOVE IT! It's a great value and to know that's the frame their Factory team is racing Red Hook Crit on gives me confidence in the bike. Their team is killing it on these $300 frames compared to the really expensive Specialized and Pinerello bikes they're racing againts. Their customer service is great too!

I got my Kilo TT Pro yesterday and I’m VERY happy with it. Solid bike, I got the Shark Grey color. Every component seems of good quality. Two things I’m replacing right away; the saddle and pedals, that’s it nothing else. No broken parts, bent, or scratched.

  • @stefannico

yeay.... my bike is on that list!!! I got the Fuji feather in that mint color. Upgrades so far include TRP RRL SR hood-levers, Brooks saddle and bartape and continental grand prix 4000 s II tires. Also clipless pedals from shimano and a longer BLB seattube. Cables and Breaks are pink... which creates a nice contrast to the frame. I'm proud of it

I'm not new to bikes but new to this style. Got a cordoba because of this video. Absolutely love it. Just grabbed some eggbeaters off one of my old BMX race bikes and added head/tail lights. Rides like a dream but I think I'm gonna have to run chain tensioner. No matter how tight I get the rear wheel it will eventually work loose just a bit to where it's slightly crooked and I can feel the drag from it trying to track sideways.

It's now 2023 and if you're looking for a good fixed gear, try to find an Aventon Cordoba in your size. I picked one up a year ago for $150. I had it gone over front to back at a shop I trust and have been enjoying it ever since.
If the one you find still has its stock Kenda Criterium tires on it, chuck those for a pair of folding Continental Ultra Sport III. They transformed the ride and ease of riding for me.

I have upgraded to a brooks cambium c17, brooks bar tape and 25c thickslick tires. all in all it is a legit ride and well worth the 450usd. After seeing your review of some of the aventon bikes my only option was the kilo tt pro due to my height. I ride a 61cm and there just in not a whole lot out there for the quality and price. Cheers for great info and a great video.

I can recommend the Raleigh back alley. The frame has great geometry, very responsive and comfortable.
Negatives: The wheels are cheep. Broke 4 spokes in 6 months of pretty easy riding. The flat bar is fine the mtb grips leave much to be desired. Biggest complaint is the lack of stem height. Otherwise great value

burstin I had one too. Looked absolutly awsome. I loved it. It had that old looking tint. A mixture of green and white. Very bright. I just loved it. But it broke after two car crashes. The frame was totally done. But I really never had a flat tire. And tbh I never apreciated it. Now that I got a track bike that's meant for racing I really know what a solid bike I had with my fixie(on my track bike I already had 3 flat tires because I ride in the city and track bikes don't like the combination of speed and a solid sidewalk). It still lies in my garage because I wanna hang it up in my flat when I move out. (17 years old)

      Lian Cualoping
That's what I've been using for a few years, and I'm perfectly happy with it.
That said, I got mine 'for free' from a family friend who left it to me after he died, so I can't comment on the value.
I also couldn't comment on the parts as I honestly don't know what he replaced. Handlebars are original, and they're good. Other than that, I couldn't say. Either way, $350 seems like quite the deal to me.
Buying used is something this vid failed to include, and used seems like the best way to get value out of your bike. Worth bearing in mind.

I always figured your first fixed gear should be a converted old road frame! However, these are very nice. Others I have tried at the fuji track, Raleigh Rush Hour (old model with better steel frame), and a plain old Fuji Track that was similar to the feather but came with nicer parts.
Also if your shop does frame work you can tweak an old road frame nicely; I have an atala that had henry james track ends put on.

Question: Are wider tires and tubes considered to be more durable for daily use due to their not needing to be filled to 80 PSI? I get a lot of flat rear tires and I'm getting tired af of it. I ride daily to work.

    • @Alexpi101
      @Alexpi101 5 років тому

Generally, a wider tire is going to have the effect of smoothing out your ride, but tire width and recommended tire pressure probably has little to do with you getting flats. If your goal is to stop getting flats, you need to figure out the exact cause by examining the tube and inside of the tire when you change the flat. The solution could be anything from investing in a tire with more puncture resistance to checking your tire pressure more frequently to using tubeless sealant.

Why is he against cup and cone hub bearings? I never once had an issue with them, and they are easy to service. With cartridge hub bearings, you need special tools to remove and press them in. As for adjusting the cup and cone bearings, you incrementally tighten the cone until there is no more play. Its not hard; I learned by practicing after a few tries. Also, cup and cone bearings are angular contact, meaning it can take radial and side loads, which radial contact cartridge bearings CANNOT do, meaning cup and cone bearings will last longer between service periods. So in summary, cup and cone are easy to service, economical when replacing the bearings and regreasing, and can take radial as well as side loads. With cartridge bearings, if you dont have the special tools, you're goIng to need to pay a professional to replace your hub bearings every time during the course of the bicycle's lifetime. If anything, the cartridge hub bearings drive up the price of the bicycle, where conventionally, cup and cone hub bearings are found on low priced bicycles.

Crew only has one line of bikes limited colors and parts
Aventon I find they ride the same but have more options for parts frame Geo and color ways.
The company is larger so fixing problems are probably easier.
In the end if u can get a new crew for 300 or less get it other wise; spend the extra money grab a aventon.

You can buy Aventon frames from Brick Lane Bikes (uk) or Santafixie (spain) pretty cheap at the moment, think the lime frames were 200 quid at start of summer

Does anyone know if the 2018 Kilo TT Pro is still a pre-order that ships out January 2018 or if the website just hasn’t been updated and they’d ship out January 2017. I just don’t want to wait a few months for my bike.

Good info. But if it’s targeted toward beginners, would all the tech talk go over their heads?

Question: I still have my bigger bike, sad to say it's a purefix but at least it doesn't have the crazy heavy 80mm rims. Still I'd like to cut more weight. Is there a double butted frame that would be a direct replacement or close enough that would only require purchasing a few extra components? I don't have much money to work with.

Great video as always, what do you think about the fuji track? It goes for 299 on citygrounds, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.

There are places to buy Aventon bikes in Europe as well, there's Brick Lane Bikes, TheFixedGearShop to name a couple and a lot of other online shops who don't have brick and mortars but stock them in Europe

Thanks for the video suggestion; I'll be sure to cover it in the near future. If those are your options, I'd go with the Wabi.
