Great video! Implementing RPG elements into the guest experience is absolutely bonkers! I think the wand battles could go either one of two ways: it's just spamming avaracadabra until dead and forgettable experience or it's actually strategic gameplay where your choices define the kind of wizard you are. Maybe they could implement a king of the hill system, where you do wizard grafiti for territory control and the tag is custom to you. So many ideas they could run with and whatever works will eventually make it's way into pokemon where I will make my new permanent residence.
Yes! Totally agree - it might start off simplistic but could expand and get super expansive - or even give players options around how complex they want to go! 👌🏼👍🏼🙌🏼
At the very least I'd like the new wand to have a Lumos feature if it has led lights on it. Feel like that would fun to use as a late night flashlight. Just the power to have a Prisoner of Azkaban type moment is awesome.
I could see myself using this to go to the bathroom in a hotel room at night, the AC vents and light leaking from the door crack always wakes up anyone sharing a room with me so using this to creep into the bathroom without disturbing my family or friends would be cool.

All current magic stations will be 2.0 updated with completely new displays or with added effects. Universal is also adding new magic wand experiences in both parks so it will be worth a good part of a day of magic if Epic opens and you want to try them all out in the 3 parks. It's all very excited and although I never use a wand I love to people watch and the kinetic energy these experiences give to the lands.

This sounds amazing! Also, after the announcement of the new Ministry Of Magic ride, I was thinking about how cool it would be if they had wand duels, and to hear that they may be doing that is so cool. I think wand dueling would easily be the best experience at the parks. Thanks for the coverage.
Also I think it would be incredible if they developed a VR game with a story or with multiplayer dueling that used the actual wands.

Great Video as always. Another method of the portraits recognizing you. And not having to use the wand is the facial recognition Universal has suggested for entering lands and linking to your ticket, and possibly the mobile app ?? That way all guests get these experiences and it not being reliant on which wand version you have. This facial recognition could be used in similar ways for all portals. Making the ques so much more interactive and personal ;) I cannot wait for this park to open.

I am split on this. On one hand there are ways you can track progress through the parks and the wand duels sound amazing. But on the other, I feel it would take from the immersion having batteries in our wands and an obvious eyesore on where the wand takes apart from to put the batteries in. There is something about just taking the old wands right out of the box and you got all you need to perform your spells throughout the wizarding sections. Hopefully they conceal the battery area well.
Yeah we’ll see - my hope is it will be similar to the MagicBand+ where it’s a simple contact recharge - without the need for a plug in spot or battery that gets taken out. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Wouldn't it be great if the new wands and some sort of new wand experience was available in the Epic Preview Center.
I would like to see experiences like RPGs which adds to justifying a level up system as you learn and master the various spells. Levelling up each spell would = priority on wand duels similar to stats and then eventually unlocking Dark Arts. But let's do the thing Hogwarts Legacy cut from their content: do too much dark magic and at the end of the day, dark wizards standing in the dueling areas can be swooped down upon by cast members playing Aurors and iconic heroes and you can (with permission of course) have unexpected wand battles with, say, an adult Head of Auror Office Harry Potter? It would really make people choosing to hang out in the Dark Arts areas of the park feel like they belong there and improve guest experiences.
Levelling up should also come with potential gear options to increase health. Say you buy merch in the shop? QR codes could be added to tags to equip to your character to increase your overall stats VERY much like an RPG, and all merch is random but more expensive items have a higher guarantee of rare drops. But you can also use QR codes to upgrade your gear overtime so when you duel you do more damage, take less damage, get priority, or maybe spells are on cooldown like in HL, speed up cooldown.
And along with the guy who suggested the House Points for the Hogwarts show? Using Dark Magic actually can be a penalty to your house's overall progress which gives a push and pull towards choice: you either fight to challenge the Aurors or you work alongside your House for Hogwarts Always. It makes it a game alongside simply being in the park. This part was inspired by the Death Eaters who swarm Hogsmeade at night during the Halloween festivities.

These new wands sound super similar to my magic caster interactive smart wands that control the lights in my house. Very excited for the next generation of this!

hopefully the wands from the theme parks doesn’t feel cheap and ‘plasticy’ like the magic caster interactive.
I kind of wonder if they would allow trade-ins for more advanced wands just so we could make more wands from the stage one wanda

In the WB tour, it's a filter on the camera plus actual smoke effect, that they send to you via QR code. However I don't really see this as being feasible for the crowds, so it's likely a simple mirror that other people can view, similar to the Pepper's ghost effect when guests walk through the wall of Platform 9 3/4
in contrast Disney removed the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game which was complimentary. Universal is capitalizing selling wands and doing things in the same windows.

So I'll be going in December, then May and again the following Feb (I got the 15 month season pass). Do I skip the wand for Christmas or will they have some of the new ones available?

Idt they should sell the British wands at epic. I get that ppl are more likely to get the Harry Potter branded wands but the mix of two different countries is already pushing it we don’t need “Olivanders in Paris” it’s messing with the continuity to much.
