PBR 2003: Justin McBride’s Near Death Experience with Mission Pack

- Trevor Walker's 95 Mission Pack has a rank trip, where he flips over the 2-time PBR World Champion and stomps hard on Justin's mid-section during the Ford Championship Round at the 2003 Grand Rapids Invitational in Grand Rapids, MI. Justin sustained a right rib fracture and a collapsed lung. He was admitted to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where a chest tube was inserted to re-expand the lung, and remained there for a few days. He was thankfully able to recover enough to compete at the World Finals and have an epic showdown with Chris Shivers. Bull score: 46.50

I grew up on a cattle ranch in south Alabama. And it was my dream to be a bull rider. My Dad did saddle bronc riding, calf roping, and steer wrestling. And so when I was 16, he started me on the steers at first, and he taught me the ropes. Buy the time I was 19, I was competing in local rodeos all over the southeast. Saddle broncs and bulls. It was in my blood! I loved it. Yes, it's a very dangerous sport. After 14 years and having just about every bone broken in my body and three broke backs. The doctors told me it was over or the next ride could paralyze me. I'm 64 now and disable. Mainly from all the injuries I had from bull riding. I still love it. And someone asked me if I could do it all over again, would I? I replied, "Most certainly."

I’ve had my share of horse riding and some of them was crazy
I’ve never rode a bull before but I’d hate to think I wouldn’t try it for a million bucks
I can’t think of a single thing that could go wrong
listen to the guys talking and they way they talk now, the guys on there are calm and explaning what happend, the ones on there now are over excited and get carried away
Could not imagine the impact on the body and the arthritis later in life I now have arthritis in my joints for over 30 years horse riding I was told by my old friends that were cowboys that later in life is when you will feel it the joint pain. So true but hey they are a amazeing animal that gave me 30 fantastic years of being around them.and I really do miss my hoof baby's but when you have kids your time is devoted to them they must always come first now my 12 year old son wants a pony maybe a little Welsh cob pony who knows what the future holds

There's a lot of things in this life I don't know. But one thing I dang sure do know is, her comment wasn't about you, or your need to be relevant.
Get a different hobby.
Maybe stack BB's in the hallway or sharpening bowling balls in your spare time when not so busy admiring yourself and thinking you know something.

I've done some crazy dangerous things in life. Had some near death experiences, especially on my motorcycle and three crashes. Been chased up a tree by a momma moose. But I will absolutely NEVER ride a bull. No thanks.
