They dropped the co-creator, a writer on the show and the voice of rick, morty and a lot of side characters. A lot of the show was improvised too, so tbh idk if they can really replace him. Sucks, but rick and morty is probably over

Like justin more so get’s an outline showing topics to cover and the general direction, but he fills in everything else which gives it that loose, improvisational feel. That is a hard thing to replace. And yes, I am aware that he kind of was a dick on set. Just saying he added something to the show that isn’t that easy to replace. Something that is more than just writing episodes or voicing characters, with that thing being the improvised stuff

Despite there not being a strong emphasis on lore at all, and it intentionally doing very few lore episodes, it still has quite a deep and connected lore that gradually and reasonably explained things like why Rick seems to be the most intelligent in every universe etc. I think it just shows good writing, that characters can have their deep moments in a show that is so outlandishly ironic and bound to basically no moral principles. And because he knows it very well, because he's incredibly smart, he is intentionally emotionally distant from the Smith family because he doesn't want to lose them too. He could probably lose Beth because he sometimes shows "weakness" with her.
So you can see an alternate version of yourself give you portal tech which you refuse, resulting in that alternate version of you murdering your family causing you to invent portal travel yourself, making you a nihilistic husk of who you once were, going on a homicide spree on other alternate versions of yourself in hopes you avenge your family?
