    #FixLeakyFaucets #WasherWaterLine Returned home to find the laundry room floor wet along with water dripping down the wall under the washing machine water hose connections. How to fix many leaky faucet issues with just an adjustable wrench.
    There are really only two ways a faucet can leak: around the packing nut or around an internal washer. The packing nut leak is the most common and also the easiest to fix.
    Link to useful adjustable wrench - using a small wrench helps fit in tight spaces and helps not over tighten the packing nut:

    I realize this video is dated 6 yrs ago, but thank you for having this up! You saved me the cost of having someone come out and look at my washer and pipes (and they probably would have recommended unnecessary expensive "repairs"). I don't have the money for that right now at all. After spending a while cleaning up water off of the tile and making sure it wasn't anywhere else in the house, I did a Google search and it popped up your video. I gave it a try and it worked! It was just that simple. Lol. I tested everything out and have done 2 more loads of laundry with no further issues. As a woman who lives alone as a first time homeowner and does not have family locally I can call upon, your video was a lifesaver.

    Doug, today you saved me whatever the price of a plumber is! I was so disgusted because I am not a handyman except in the bedroom, LOL! I replaced a corroded hose per the instructions from my neighbor. Was very happy I accomplished something with a tool. Upon turning on the water it leaked at the handle, again upset. Till my lovely, lovely wife told me to go to youtube. I am 75 yrs old and not a computer guy. After watching your youtube video, I did an 1/8 turn on the stem and the water stopped. Thank goodness for guys like you. Again, thank you, Denny.

      @DH Denny I’m glad you found it helpful! I hate spending money of plumbers or other trades that I can do myself. Well, direct, detailed and easy to follow. And here I thought I was going to at worse spend $10s of dollars and time cutting it off and replacing the valve, or at best replace a gasket/washer all in a tight space, when insight full inspection & tightening a nut solves the problem. I love a real, practical solution, Thank you.

    Thank you for making this video. It helped me a ton. I had watched a plumber fix our leak by doing the same thing. After he fixed the leak, I never turned the handle again until about a year and half later which was today. When I turned the faucet handle, the leak came back, so I did a UA-cam search, and your video came up. After watching your video, I turned the packing nut a few times and stopped the leak. I thought everything was fixed until I turned the faucet handle again. When I did, it leaked again. I had to turn the packing nut a few more times to stop the leak. It’s not leaking now, and I’m going to leave the faucet handle the way it is.

    • @DougForce
      @DougForce  Рік тому +1

      @Tom Nguyen I’m glad it helped! Turning the handle after the valve has sat for a long time is usually when it will start leaking. Usually a few turns on the packing nut will stop it again.

    This was so helpful! We had a new washer installed yesterday and when I went down to the basement this morning I had a small trickle of water on the floor from beneath my new machine. I looked closely and found a trickle of water coming from the hot water intake faucet. After watching your video I went down and followed your instructions of tightening the nut under the handle after turning off the water and drying everything off. I reattached the hose and turned the water back on. I now have a folded paper towel under it and am waiting to see what happens. Fingers crossed that I fixed it! 🤞 My husband pitched a fit thinking we had a "faulty installation" of the new washer. 🙄 I'm hoping it's just the nut loosened just enough to cause the leak and that all is well now. Thanks for your help! 🤩
