~7 years later and this video is still helping people. Thank you for taking the time to make it and for helping everyday people better understand what the issue is, how to fix it, and why it's happening.
9 years now
Ten years now
IM going to try that tomorrow
A lot of guys explain this and they complicate the shit out of it. Thank you for making it simple
Great video. I appreciate people who go slow and explain. One of the better DIY videos I've seen. Thanks!
agreed!!!

Amazingly, this is the only video I've found that addressed my exact problem. You'll still be helping hose owners in 2099!
I watched this 10minutes ago and now, our faucet is no longer leaking!! THANK YOU!!!
Great video. Without actually seeing the used and new washers, I would never have known what the right replacement looked like. Also, I forgot (or never knew) that you could stop a stem leak by tightening the nut. Thanks!
Best how-to video for the novice I watched, thanks
I really appreciate getting the "why" and the "how" . Thanks!
Due to your video, I was able to save $$ by not having a plumber come out, and I was able to fix it myself. THANK YOU!!!!
This was a wonderful “do it yourself” video. Very articulate in explaining and demonstrating the process. Thanks!
You just saved me a TON of time and hassle....Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this video! The previous owners soldered the spigot to the water supply pipe and me thinking I needed to change the spigot, I was in a corner because I don't know how to solder. Tightening the packing solved the problem and you saved me $ and stress.
Thank you so much!
I think this is still the most useful 3 minutes of video I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
Leaked for a year. 30 seconds to fix. Thanks!
Thanks, your video just saved me a $500 plumber's bill!!
OMG! I have had a leaky stem forever, and you showed me how to fix that in about five seconds. A thousand thankyous!
Wow! How simple this was. Thank you for teaching me this for free
Lots of videos cover the packing for the stem...this is the first I found for the gasket inside the valve. Thank you for covering both - I thought I'd have to replace the entire valve!
Just fixed mine with the help of this video. Thank you!!
Same here, I just fixed mine too - thank you!
One more small project off my "honey do" list. Thanks!
Thank you so much for making this short video. Very helpful!👍
The packing nut super simple fix worked!! I thought I needed to replace the whole thing! Thank you :)
Mindblown as well ! I was about to replace the whole thing. I actually feel stupid now lol
It worked!!! The water doesn't spray out of the handle anymore!!! Thank you again!!!
Thanks to you I fixed my own hose bib today! So empowering! Thank you!
This video saved the day!!! Thank you!!! The thumbnail is exactly what happened to us today and you saved us sooo much money! ❤
Thank you! This video saved me from making a phone call “weekend callout for a plumber” You got right to it and didn’t chat to the camera and your directions were clear. 😊
Your video is the ONLY one I've seen that shows you can just tighten the top to fix the while-on leak. THANK YOU!! Fixed, and I don't need to buy anything, yet.
Great video! The DIY UA-cam community is the best!
You resolved my long lasting problem in a min! Thanks!
Best DIY video, you help everybody save money. thank you
Thank you so much! Had a home inspection and was dreading having to have the hose bib replaced. What a simple fix.
Thank you for making this short and to the point. VERY helpful!
Very good video with clear explanation and 'how to.' Didn't cover replacing stem or packing, but great on explaining washer replacement.
Awesome straight to the point! Very professional. Thank you!
Just saved me professional plumbing costs!! Both bibs leaked and I thought it was likely the washer but I just tightened the nut nearer the top and viola! Wished I knew this last year lol.
I had a leaky faucet for months, was ready to buy soldering tools and coper pipe and replace the whole faucet, then I saw this and it worked like a charm, Thanks!!!!!
amazing. I was ready to replace the faucet but I watched your video and instead, just a trip to Ace and few cents and no more drip! Appreciate it.
Amazing video! You uploaded it 7 years ago. It is in such a good quality and still helping me today.
Thanks so much! I've been putting this project for so long because I thought it was gonna be a lot more complicated. I appreciate the video!
Thank you so much, this help me fix my patio hose Bibb without replacing
I feel like the fix it lady all because of you. Thank you for doing this video.
Your advice saved me time and money. Thank you!!
Thank you Brother! This is the 2nd time your video has helped me to fix a leaky spigot. We just needed to buy that small $3 stem washer & it was fixed! To fix it, I took off the stem & brought it in to Home Depot, to make sure the washer fit. Thanks again! Blessings to everyone! #WeNeedEachOther #TakeTimeToShareWhatYouKnow #ItWillBlessOthers #ThankYou
Awesome. Straight and to the point, simple and clear instructions. This handyman novice appreciates you. Thank you! ✌️😎
I've lived in this house for six years and my two hose bibs have been leaking when turned on the whole time. Five minutes after watching this, they're both fixed. Thanks so much!
Thank you very much for your professional and excellent instruction.
Dude. The second problem in the video was the issue that I had. I used channel locks and fixed it just like you said! Killer quick and easy video. You're the man!
Thank you so much. I am not a plumber and did not have to make a trip to Lowe's. I had the leak when I opened the faucet. I tightend the packing screw and it is all fixed.
I'm really glad I found this video. My problem was leaking around the handle when I turned the water on (2:23). Thanks to this video I was able to fix it in about 10 seconds with a pair of pliers.
Dude, you're awesome. Tightening the nut as mentioned about 2:30 in fixed my issue. Thanks!
Thank you! Just what I needed.
very nice video. i like how its straight to the point with simple instruction. Great job!!!
Awesome video. The last piece of advice saved me from buying a new hose bib. Thanks!
This was a wonderful “how to fix it yourself” video. Very article in explaining and demonstrating very detail. Thanks!
You just saved me $350. Thank you!
Just took me less than 2 minutes to fix the leaky hose that’s been bothering me since we moved in last year. I feel like superwoman haha. Thank you!
Thank you for this info. All 3 of my exterior faucets leak. Now, I can fix myself. Much appreciated!
I thought I was going to have to take the whole thing apart to fix the leak at the handle until I saw the last few seconds of this video. THANK YOU! You saved me a lot of irritation and time!
After watching your video I took care of my water leak in two minute!!!...THANKK YOU for the tip!
Thank you so much!!! I replaced both washers, but I still had water squirting up out of the faucet, I will have to try tightening the hex bolt tomorrow when it is light out. I had a lot of trouble getting the bonnet off at first. The builder of the house had completely painted the entire faucet. I couldn't even see the right thing to turn because of the paint, and the hard water deposits. I had to scrape the paint off with an exacto knife all around the hex, and I finally got it off!
Been at my house for almost 2 years and my leak got fixed by tightening the nut. I didn’t realize it was that easy. Thank you!
Thank you. Tightened the top. Zero cost
Thanks. This helped me a bunch. I had to replace the rubber washer at the bottom of the bonnet assembly.
Great video. Just what I needed to fix leaky hose bib on my house. Bought 2 rubber washers (.70 cents) and repaired it right up. Thanks!
Great, thank you! Just repaired my leaking tap with this very useful video - did not need to spend money on the packing - just had to tighten it!
Thank you for this! Extremely helpful and a big money saver too!
This was so well done. Great video, explanation and well spoken. Excellent
Thank you so much! My foundation was starting to soak up too much water. This video helped me out so much!
Mine does not come off like that, you undo the top nut and just the handle comes off. The mechanism does not come out. It appears to be secured with a circlip. How do I get the circlip off and not lose it? Also the threads on the hosebib have been painted (HOA rule) so it won't unscrew from the wall. How do I free it and which way do I turn to loosen, clockwise or anti-clockwise. Either way it won't budge. I also found I needed a special tool to turn the water off. Cost me $15 at the hardare store just to turn the water off. So many unanswered questions with this video.
Dude you make it look soooooo easy.
Thank you for the video, one quick tight to the nut fixed the leak. Save me time and money from change the new faucet.
This solved my leak problem ! I tightened the packing nut 1/4 turn and the leak was gone!
The last step was a game changer. Thank you
Well explained. Thank you.
So easy, I thought you had to replace the bibb and we have a super old 1" that I couldn't find. I was thinking of getting a reducer and 3/4 bibb. Thanks!
Successfully repaired it myself! Thank you so much for your help and clear explanation!
Boy was I overthinking that! Thanks for the video you just saved me time and money!
Thanks! It was as quick and easy as you made it look.
Thanks a lot for your video guide. It saves me a lot of money.
Thank you. I seriously was thinking I had to replace the whole thing. But just tightened up the top and water doesn’t leak. Crazy.
thank you! That 2nd leak tip worked great for me!
Thank you sooo much! I didn't think it could be that easy. It was the 2nd leak that you talked about that helped me out with my problem. Thank you
Awesome! The second issue is what I came here to learn about. Thanks. 👍🏼
Thanks! I know this is an old video but that trick to open the valve all the way and tighten the nut fixed the leak around that area saving me a trip to the hardware store.
Finally a video about a hose bib that looks like mine. The problem I have is that I cannot undo the top screw nor either of the lower nuts, they are all corroded on solid. All I might be able to undo is the nut holding on the entire hose bib. That is if liquid wrench will do its job.
Thanks for the short, clear, and well presented video on how to repair leaks at hose bibs. Mine was the 2nd problem leaking around the handle. I had envisioned a long drawn out repair. 1/2 a turn with a wrench and the leak was gone. Thanks again for the well done video.
Thanks so much that is exactly what was leaking on ours! Fixed it!
Great video and thank you . You just saved me a service call. Cheers!
Awesome video. You saved me time and money. Much appreciated Sir
I really like how you explain why the leaks occur in the first place. In this case, the washer expands a little every time you close it tight and then it rubs on the inside of the bib. Thanks. Subscribing.
Thank you! Best faucet repair video!😊
Tightened packing nut and fixed both spigots. Thanks saved me replacing the whole thing
nice freebie...really appreciate this...worked like a charm...cheers!
Thanks for posting this how to video. Just fixed one at my sister's house
So much more informative than many other videos on this topic. Thanks! One question: Can I just buy the packing washer online? How do I know the size?
Thank you, straight to the point.
Great video. I’m having this exact same problem. I’ll give it a try. Thanks.
I was about to replace the whole faucet. Thank you for saving me a ton of money!
going to give hose bib a try after work on Tuesday my father inlaw will be happy
Great advice. I have a hose bib with a handle that was gushing water, I was going to replace the washer, but when I tighten the nut it stopped.
