    Except for some trim it’s identical to a 2019, 5 years ago. They need to get more intelligent storage rather than these huge compartments, have smaller ones with shelves

    After seeing both videos, I must admit that the truck looks exactly like my 2018 cascadia. I am disappointed that they are not communicating with drivers about what they feel will allow them to be comfortable with driving these trucks. They need to step up their game with interior work. The fridge is sitting to low and makes it hard for anyone to get stuff out of the fridge. Also, those storage compartments are horrible, the moment you open it up, things fall out. This is a poor design and they NEED to go back to the drawing board and rethink about driver comfortability instead of making minor adjustments.

    To all those complaining about the storage compartments... Take some measurements and go get some plastic containers that have lids, and put them into the storage compartments. All of your stuff will be organized, and it will be simple to move out of the truck and into a new one whenever the need arises!

    As an european truckdriver i can say that i see a lot of Mercedes truck switches and levers steeringwheel buttons etc. As some interior parts are shared with MAN and Mercedes too. Unfortantly they are considerd to be the lowest quality and durability products in the industry. Every driver in Europe knows that they fail relativly quick. It looks like the materials used in the chairs are similar too as is the design as well. Also these fabrics wear and tear relativly quick. Some trucks where these materials are used in dont last longer then 250.000 miles. I wouldnt be surprised the engine technology is similar with Mercedes and those are also made with the focus on milage per gallon. Im am not impressed and foresee this truck not lasting very long and frustrate the driver with a lot of broken interior parts and a overal bad driving experience. Gas milage is not the most important thing in a truck. Its the driver that feels well and stays healthy.

    • @kamata93
      @kamata93 Рік тому

      I believe the engines are US made - the DD13, 15 and 16. Its possible some technology is used from MB. After all Freightliner and Western Star are part of the Daimler group. I wish Scania made officially some trucks for the US with decent support. Btw Im kinda surprised to hear that MAN has low quality stuff. Usually Scania, MAN and Volvo were the benchmark.

    Dear people, the interior, especially the dashboard, is exactly like the one from Mercedes Benz in Europe, aged, the buttons, the steering wheel, the clocks on the dashboard. I can't understand why they don't collaborate with other companies like Scania or MAN, I think it would have a very big impact

  • @HaulingDonkey

    Freightliners have come a looong way since the FLD series! It looks like they may have also corrected the issue of some buttons being blocked by the cup holder as well-hard to tell in the video. The jake brake on the automatic transmission is nicely located too. However, whoever it was that thought to locate the on/off button for the jake of the manual-transmission-trucks on the steering wheel must not be a trucker. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to turn on or off my jake in mid turn, only to have to take my eyes off the road to find the damn button. Just turn the jake up or down you ask? That was one of the buttons hidden behind my coffee cup in the cup holder. So frustrating when manufacturers don’t really think things through. Hopefully they got it right this time.

    what is the average lifespan (mileage) of a Cascadia in the 2020+ range? Can an engine rebuild extend the lifespan significantly? Or is there a cliff that most trucks of this sort will fall off and need to be retired? Lastly what do you think of buying Long Haul routes?

    Do they have different cabinet configurations. If you use a CPAP, where would you place it at night. You need a nightstand cabinet, a flat place behind the driver seat to put thing's.

  • @johnhare7279
    @johnhare7279 Рік тому +1

    The steering column controls, shifter and wipers, is obscured by the steering wheel webs.
    The windshield pillars/door frame in combination with the bulky design of the side mirrors create a terrible blind spot on both sides.
    The cruse control is not true cruse control. Set on sixty-five climbing an upgrade, after reaching the top and the load is off it goes into coast at the present speed way under sixty-five.
    The truck lunges while in reverse when ally docking. I'm told it's a common problem with Eaton automatics.
    Between Freightliner and my company the truck is so detuned I've done twenty-three miles an hour in a seventy mph zone up a mountain pulling forty thousand pounds.
    The HAVC vents in both bunks are almost level with the mattresses.
    No controls for anything in the top bunk.
    The Carrier APU HVAC blower motor is very loud on high. Both vents service the bottom bunk and floor, which makes it many degrees hotter for the top bunk.
    The duct work for the higher vent is four inch flex and just run through the tall cabinet.
    When the top bunk ladder is down it prevents the person in the bottom bunk from getting out.
    Most surface's are textured so any stick-on accessories don't stick.
    The collision alert and automatic breaking does activate with nothing in front of me, yes the recall was done on it, still does it.
    The following distance alert is constantly flashing and beeping because a seven second following distance doesn't happen in the real world. Regardless of what the desk engineers think.
    The "in windshield" CB antenna is terrible, but it saves a pint of fuel in a year not being a mounted one.
    This truck is designed by and sold to, people who don't drive,(fleet purchases).
    I give this truck one star out of five.

Userful I am sure but looks more like your driving a van than a semi truck. Not sure what it is that makes a semi truck dash look like it belongs in a semi but I do know that is not it. At least for me. They sell a TON of those so other people must like it. Maybe they want that car like feel..

      Its basicly all Mercedes truck interior parts used for these trucks as well. They are really bad quality and wont last long. This looks to me all focus is on max profit and use of materials that will fail just after warranty runs out. In Europe all company's are ditching Mercedes trucks because after 300.000 miles or so the interior is worn out!
