    6 out of 10. Ha ha Gordon, you only got 10 out of 10.
    Second time through, some time later - 10 out of 10. Half because I kinda knew the answers and half because I understood your explanations on the first run - although I treated myself to your explanations a second time through too. I'm so impressed with your depth of understanding the grammatical aspects of the language.
    I'm trying to locate the "deber a" construct, and even Dorothy Richmonds Prepositions and Pronouns book does not have it.
    Thank you.

      @@LightSpeedSpanishChannel As in the first test question, Gordon said "debe de is must, as in 'must be, 'I'm guessing' " employed as as conjecture. And that definition, short of going to the RAE, is one that I haven't been able to locate in print yet. Thank you for your reply. A

    Gracias por haberme enseñado sobre "deber de", no lo sabía. Sin embargo según la RAE "deber" se puede usar en caso de probabilidad también. La otra pregunta en la que me equivoqué fue la del siglo, pensé que "había" era para el contexto y no para una afirmación. Bueno, este tipo de vuestros videos me encantan, gracias.

    Hola! Tengo una duda sobre el número 7. ¿"Cómpratelo" significa - Buy it for yourself? Porque yo diría automáticamente - Comprálo o compralo, ¿son correctos?

    • @andyyyrl
      @andyyyrl Рік тому

      If you’re telling someone to buy something, that is a command and the command form for comprar in tú form is cómprate, then add the lo to represent the ordenador. Comprarlo literally means “to buy it” so it would say “I need a new computer” “-Well, to buy it!”

    • @LightSpeedSpanishChannel
      @LightSpeedSpanishChannel  Рік тому +1

      You can say ¡cómpralo! or ¡cómpratelo! The difference would be like in English when you say: I bought myself a new car vs I bought a new car. Emphasis. :) Cx

    I didnt pick up on the fact that there is an alternative conjugation for the imp sub with this verb so i wandered why it was 'wrong" until I heard or thought I heard what i found in wordRef. I could see that A was the only one that worked and thought that it must be a typo ho ho your end and had to cheat on this with WR> Still I am a middle ranking A1-A2 but through my study into the subj trigger lessons and the Si stuff> I will have a look at more of these tests as it is a great way to learn. Thanks for the effort and when I get back I will have a look at subscription or coffees.

      Hi, Nigel. ¡Muchas gracias! There are two options for the Imperfect Subjuntive: For Ar-> ara/ -ase. For Er and Ir verbs-> -iera/ -iese.
      Which question are you referring to? Cx

  • @davidcattin7006

    I don't think I've ever used cuyo, so I missed that one. Also, thinking that with gente understood, #3 could also be tenía. Saludos desde Indiana!

  • @Muhahahahaz

    Saqué 7/10
    For 2 of them, I just didn’t know certain words in the question (not responses), but once I looked those words up, I was able to select the correct answer. (So I never really got them wrong per se, but I won’t take credit for them either)
    Then I messed up the last one, cuz I figured “whose” was referring to the chico (as if it were a pronoun replacing him). I didn’t realize it was acting as an adjective for the next word. (To be fair, I haven’t used “cuyo” in my current studies yet, but I probably saw it a long time ago)

      There was no drinkable water. We use the verb 'There be' also in English. The verb 'tenía' means 'had', but there's no person. You could say: We didn't have drinkable water here= Nosotros no teníamos agua potable aquñí VS There was no drinkable water here.
      I hope that helped! Cx
