their non verbal language is impressive, feels like they are having an entire conversation while staring at each other, that must’ve be the only way they would had to communicate in a safe way back then.
I was thinking the same thing. She knew immediately something was wrong with her sister. You can see her expression change from what are you thinking to oh no you’re not okay.
That look Jordan gives her sister when she sees her about to cry is one of the most moving and real moments I've ever seen. Bless these brave women! They are so strong I don't know how they survived that.
i believe they survived as team work (Jordan worded it that way) they support and show each other love even if their parents never did. Naturally kids are born with it and they become healthy loving persons even with abusive parents. The strength and spirit of them as siblings are extraordinary 😭
Not likely, it is happening. If you become a teacher you hear it all. I had a student who was caged and neglected as a 3 and 4 year old. I have kids Age 7 tell me , please don't let my dad pick me up, he's drunk. Countless stories of just the things kids told me or that I knew. There's so much more.
It happened for 3 more years after the kids were “rescued.” 6 of them went to a foster home where they were s******* and physically abused. Who knows if they’ll ever find peace.
1:45 that reaction from Jordan just melts your heart. She smiles remembering that family outing as a rare, happy event, where they all got to be out of that house together... But then sees her sister's reaction and looks at the photo again confused and searching for what she has missed, guilty even that she smiled while her sister cried. It's one of THE most real reactions I've watched in any video... Especially in the days where everything online is so staged for maximum views or self promotion. For her, those cameras weren't there at that moment.
It looked like the sister on the right smiled a bit at the photo, then saw her sister's face and immediately changed. Kinda a curious moment. They've been through a lot.
When Jordan looked up and saw that her sister was gonna cry, her expression switched to compassion so fast, then gave her a hug. These girls bond is so deep and special.
I think when you have been through so much together that bond is necessary. When you have been to hell and back with somebody that bond is unbreakable.
The way Jordan’s face dropped when she saw her sisters tears burst out, just shows she has so much compassion and empathy, many times with stories like these kids turn out to be psychos and unfeeling towards others, as long as it’s not them, but these girls thankfully grew to be the opposite to that, they all watch out and care for one another, it’s something so special. I’m thrilled that they are now free, but I feel so sorry that it took so long for them to be able to escape. Thank God Jordan managed, she so smart and her hope for help for her siblings is what encouraged her to get hold of police. I can’t believe parents would do this AND get away with it for so long, surely people would find it odd, that they’re never seen, or find it odd that other family members don’t help out with the kids
We're all noticing the same thing, Jordan's expression of empathy towards her sister. If only we all had empathy like hers. Despite everything, there's certainly a light within this woman.
Jordan’s face when she saw how her sister was reacting to the photos is heartbreaking. These women must go through so many damn conflicting emotions...
I noticed that too. Once Jordan looked and saw how upset her sister was 😢. I’m not sure if Jordan really understands as much as Jennifer and that is so upsetting. Truly hope all these children succeed and have an amazing life. This is far from over
Jordan was born in the right order to become the strong one, the eldest always gets it the worst and saw it all and the youngest were in physical distress. The parents got life, the state players deserve the same. Tragic
What's so sad is that Jordan doesn't say in this interview that Child Protective Services DID fail her and her family. She went through more hell before this interview even took place.
@@tionnanicole95 Jordan wasn’t treated well afterwards either. There were times where after she got a job would ask her coworkers for money just so she could eat.
Why do I always hear an alarming number of stories where the CPS have failed to do their job? - like it’s people’s lives and livelihoods at stake, like c’mon🙄
1:45 The shock on Jordan's face realizing her sister didn't view this as one of her few happy memories. Jordan was just young enough to be fooled by the mask as well.
Jordan after looking at the picture at1:38 mark, she is half smiling, and expecting similar reaction from her sister. When she realizes, her sister is about to cry, her expression changes to confusion, and empathy. That sudden change of her expression was sheer innocence. It stuck in my mind. I felt so bad for these sisters.
I’m so proud of them they are such strong and beautiful women now I can’t believe they had the courage to survive this long... they are truly amazing people. ❤️
The trauma that Jennifer must have from nearly three decades of being abused and abandoned while watching her beloved siblings go through the exact same thing, helpless and terrified... I can't even imagine it. She is unbelievably brave.
The way Jennifer’s face breaks at the picture and then she just pushes it down, her face goes blank, then she looks up and smiles. A person not as strong would have not made it.
The fact that the parents ate all the food they wanted while the kids were forced to eat bread with peanut butter, ice, ketchup and mustard, and even LEAVES is so heartbreaking
They have a bond like no other siblings do. They’ve been through hell together. I’m so glad she found the courage to escape and use that phone. Who knows how much longer they would of been locked away. I’m sure one of them would of died. I honestly don’t know if I would be able to go through what they went through and not try to kill myself.
It's so terrible that no one ever took the time to say anything. Their teachers and neighbors also failed them. It makes me so angry and sad for the kids
Maybe the neighbors didn't know they had kids or that many at least. But yeah i agree most people are caught up in their own lives and too busy with them selves.
The oldest was the only one who went to school and they pulled her out after 3rd grade. I'm not saying those teachers she had didnt drop the ball but I do wonder how bad it was when there was only a couple children in the house. Or if the abuse didn't escalate to 100% obvious until there was more children.
When Jordan turned to Jennifer, after looking at a “better” memory, with a small smile, realized it wasn’t, and then looked back down, studied it with different eyes, and then back to her sister…. Heartbreaking. So much strength in these two girls.
I was going to comment something similar to this. Jordan’s face when she looks over to Jennifer says a lot. It’s like she has this moment of realization about that memory.
I keep repeating it because it's so profound how Jordan is smiling a little but seeing her sisters expression she quickly assesses the picture and her sisters feeling through her expression. They may not be as expressive in the spoken language but their expressions and body language speaks volume
It’s so messed up the mother would buy CLEAN TOYS AND GAMES and they couldn’t even play with them or wear them. That’s like a whole new level of messed up.
1:46 broke my heart. That is the definition of empathy and love. She was unaware of her sister's feelings until she looked up and at once her face dropped and she was in the trenches with her. She appears to have such a caring and loving soul and I pray for the best for her and all of her siblings. I pray that the cycle ends with them and they get the help and care that they deserve after years in hell. Bless them.
It's clear that even after 5 or 6 years Jordan still looks to her sister for what to do. She wasn't sure how to react to the photos, as she remembered it as a happy memory. Her double take at Jennifer was her confusion as to what really happened that day. I hope there was some kind of professional there to help her process this seemingly new information. She looked all kinds of freaked out about it and just needed to comfort Jennifer as her way of dealing with it. So sad.
I’ve just read that some of the siblings have filed a lawsuit after they were released into the custody of another abusive foster family. Several of the immediately ended up homeless, saying the social services failed them. Absolutely heartbreaking.
The way Jordan looks at her sister, she genuinely loves her. They are beautiful young women. I pray everything gets better for all of them after this interview.
I had to rewatch that part. At first Jordan smiled (probably not instantly processing that experience, or maybe smiling because she was reminded one of the few times she felt happy, IDK) but then she saw Jennifer’s face and that instant empathy Jordan displayed for her sister was amazing to witness. So raw and true. Human connection. Wow! I hope this family can more forward together and live the rest of their lives fulfilled.
Ive watched this video so many times. at 1:47 that instant switch of compassion Jordan has watching her sister cry is so profound and beautiful. God bless them and their siblings.

@@Milo19970 holy crap man I just watched the video. Changed my way of thinking, I appreciate my parents much more than a did before seeing all these videos
These parents got away with it for 29 years before they got caught. It really makes you wonder how many more kids are going through this right now somewhere else.
Jordan’s emotional intelligence is actually astounding. I don’t know about the other kids, but it seems that Jordan was very quick on her feet and clever for what she went through. She saved everyone. Even reading her sister’s emotions and knowing how to comfort like a mother. She had motherly instincts. My heart breaks for all of them :(
It’s not a “motherly instinct” just because she’s a woman. It’s called something anyone with empathy would do, especially with their lifestyle and closeness to each other.
My heart breaks for these people. I can't understand how anyone could hurt their children. Children should be cherished and protected. I hope they find happiness. They deserve it.
Actually, trauma can cause a heightened sense for empathy ... especially for those suffering with you. It is definitely not the ideal way to develop one's sense of empathy .... but trauma is not something one chooses either.

To everyone saying “I hope they’re doing amazing” on this video and all of the other parts of the story… THEY ARE NOT DOING OKAY. They were separated into different foster families after being taken away from their parents and were abused there. They do not have access to most of the money that was raised for them after the first news of this broke. The foster care system is broken and we need to spread the word and find anyone to contact who can change this. I’m going to try to find the right government officials to contact and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
Yes, that moment they were looking at the Vegas wedding photo and Jordan begins to smile, but looks over at her sister and sees her crying and you could almost literally see her heart jump out towards her sister as concern just blankets Jordan's face.
It’s like to Jordan is was one of the happier memories and she smiled a bit looking at it but the little bit of happiness immediately washed away into concern when she realised Jennifer was about to cry looking at the picture.
Yep at 1:50. The sister on the right smiles a bit until she sees the horror and sadness in her sisters face. She instantly becomes concerned for her sister more than herself.
That's exactly what I thought. You can tell that they have been sharing so much pain together that it's almost like they can feel what the other feel instantly.
That look Jordan gives her sister at 1:51 shows just how pure and caring she is about her siblings. What a wonderful person who had to endure such utter horror.
I can't get over how everyone failed them. Their teachers at school, the neighbours around them, even the credit card company that was owed money by their mother. Unbelievable! Why did no one think to check in on the family.
Called The Bystander Effect, similar how you watch an old person fall on the ground, the first thing in your mind is watch if anyone will help them then conclude that someone will help them eventually. It’s a very common thing in developed societies.
Idk, it's not surprising. Why would you assume any of these people would have checked? Children born to some lone couple in a new town are nothing but files in the hospital waiting to be added up to realize they have kids. THere's no reason to check or add those files up. If they just keep to themselves, etc...Nobody is personally invested and these children never had deep relationships that would have stopped to look out for them. The children in public schools would likely have no idea how wrong it is and groomed t obelieve whatever bullshit...Kids want to believe even their abusive parents that their guts is warning them about... I was in a somewhat parallel situation, not nearly as horrific...Grooming/brainwashing just worked better for my abuser, I was able to develop a pretty good physical resilience to where not being able to get the reaction from me desired, they gave up. Don't underestimate what mental domination can do to someone, especially during development...Physical pain sorta has this limit..And after a while, it loses any edge altogether thanks to how you have to frame your reality...Mental pain, there is no way to cope...You just bury more and more layers of different kinds...It can touch you in so much more private places...sensitive places that aren't attenuated... Years later, I still find myself wondering if it really happened or if it was my fault, etc, but when I start to iterate over what happened I'm reminded man that was pretty f'd up. Anyways, in my case, I had a good parent but they could not understand why their partner was so vicious all the time towards them. They moved to their shop and worked to support us but never saw them. So my good parent literally only found out after like 20 years some of the things that happened. They always thought it was only at them and thought it was undirected rage not planned malice. In general, my bad parent wouldn't have been caught if she didn't receive a TBI which caused her to lose stability. Parents honestly scare me because of what they can get away with because society even expects them to be responsible for their child... But that's double edged because now it doesn't look weird for them to control that kid in the guise of love. If they abuse that, that child is fucking doomed. We're fortunate it takes psychopathy and isn't something someone would just do for kicks. What my grandma did and allowed to happen to my down syndrome uncle for 40yr would make you turn pale, even compared to the house of horror. So, I think I'll just end the line here anyways with kids.
@@GRAYgauss what you say pretty much hits the nail on the head. And, I agree no one should judge how anyone handles things in life that no child or adult should have to suffer through. And no one should judge what we have to do to survive through any trauma. I think your really brave to share your story here to help and educate others. And I truly hope that you have genuine caring people in your life now. 😊
This is how you know the parents are not just negligent or struggling, they are actual abusers who thrive off abuse. They bought all this expensive clothing and their own kids lived in filth even though nobody else was going to use the clothing. That takes actual effort and energy to deliberately deprive the kids of things They need when it’s literally sitting in the closet.
Agreed. I also would not give them clemency for psych issues in their case. This man and woman ran their own prison the way cult leaders do. So many of the rules they enforced involved protecting themselves from accountability. In other words, they KNEW. They chose. They were in joint collusion, giving themselves permission to every decision in neglecting and abusing their children. They knew better. Half of what they did was to hide the ugly truth from the rest of the world. -Do not be seen or heard. -Sit all the time, so you are less able to be observed by anyone outside. -We will chain you up if you give us a moment of stress. -We will lock you in cages as an alternative. -Do not speak to one another. -The moment any outsider questions anyone about anything, we move to a new state. -Those times we dress you up and take you out to make a “family” photo to show relatives we are a happy, normal family? When we dress you in clean clothes that hide your bruises? If you say anything bad or try to escape, consider yourself dead. -If you do not obey us, CPS will remove you, lock you in a cage and starve you. (“Never mind that is what we already do. The point is: Out There is worse than in here. So go ahead and leave, IF you wanna die.”) -No education. Trained answers prepared in case ever questioned about school.
It’s like a sick torture mechanism. I can’t even imagine the fear of looking into ur own parents eyes and not knowing whether you’re gonna live or die .

This is how my mother and her siblings were raised, maybe less filth because the kids had to clean the house, but my grandparents were rich and the kids got basic food and clothing. Then some abuse and filthy acts committed by the parents and by each other at the command of the parents.
@@sunlitrain why they did this to their own children?? Were they getting some kind of pleasure doing this?? I mean is it any kind of psychological disorder the parents have?
The way Jordan looked at her sister literally broke my heart into a million pieces. This is absolutely horrible. I hope they find peace and thrive. They are meant for the best in the world. Sending all the good vibes to you two
1:47 That full shift seeing her sister's pain.. Part of what drove her to escape and get help to begin with. These poor girls and all their siblings deserve so much more than the cruelty they've been subjected to.
Their reactions when they see the wedding picture is so heartbreaking. Jennifer is straight up crying while Jordan looks so…distraught. I’m so thankful these women are in a better place now
@@aizai8984I don't want to play amateur psychologist, but I'll explain it to you for him/her. Jennifer burst into tears when she looked at the picture because she knew and knows that picture wasn't an accurate representation of what her life was like with her parents. Jordan on the other hand, seemed happy at first as the moment that's documented in that picture was probably one of the very few good moments of her childhood, but when she saw her sister crying, her smile immediately disappeared, and she empathized with her sister, knowing herself that the picture was a bad representation.
Judging from the comments, we all saw it. You can tell that Jordan looked at the photo and remembered how being out of the house felt, she remembered the joy. But her sister remembered something different, the pain and loss from suffering from such an abnormal childhood. Moments like these were emotional robberies to her and her face says it all when she looks at the photo. Jordan goes from almost smiling to empathetic shock when she sees Jennifer, she then looks again at the photo in a new light, then back to her sister knowing what she felt. It’s such a powerful moment of empathy, I even had to come back to this video to watch it again several hours later, and leave this comment. Such amazing people that went through such terrible things, and still continue to experience terrible things to this day unfortunately. None of them deserved any of this, it’s so heartbreaking.
Jordan is so strong looking at the picture and then looks at Jennifer’s reaction and realizes she’s crying then looks back at the picture trying to see if it makes her feel the way Jennifer feels is so sweet Jordan trying to understand the emotions
It’s so sad because she didn’t share the same memory of that day. Jordan thought it was the greatest day ever. They way she was shocked when she saw her sister was crying, had me in tears. The way she hugged her sister with the warmest hug ever made me cry
I think that's less of a testament to their bind and more of a testament to them not being able to fully identity what their emotions are/being emotionally stunted due to all the abuse they went through
Jordan looks like a curious person. In the vidéo her behavior to me is kind of like a child that is marveled by what is going on around them. Her sense of wonderment to me might be the reason behind her smile when she saw the picture because that is one of the few times they got to be out and dress nice. Jennifer on the other hand looked uncomfortable in the video. Seeing that photo probably evoked a sense of the discomfort she had been through. Seeing how emaciated she looked in the picture she could only cry cuz she realizes how abused she was and how much it showed.
When Jordan's face lights up its brighter then the sun. When the sadness and terror crosses her face its heartbreaking. Love to these incredible children/young adults
I agree. I pray the system corrects itself and give these women and their siblings better support. The nation treats Afghanistan refugees better than its own citizens.
That moment @1:45 mark...man. That was powerful. Their silence spoke a 1000 words. The connection with one another and the ability to immediately feel each others emotions so quickly through 'look' alone. I almost instantly felt as if I saw a glimpse into how they must have done, just this exact thing, when having to stay silent at home. That moment just hits hard with every feeling. Much respect to all the Turpin siblings, may you find nothing but health and happiness in your futures!
It's a pretty clear pattern I've noticed. "Home schooling" your children is often a way parents hide abuse. There needs to be checks and balances in place!
@@the_world_of_marketing if by socializing you mean spending time with other kids that don’t know how to socialize and teachers that just want to indoctrinate, then sure. I went to a mainstream school and both the teachers and kids were dumb as dirt
@@the_world_of_marketing but the public schools system isn't any better with bullying, substance abuse, negligent teachers etc. I believe monitoring parents that homeschool their kids would be the way to go. Like random home interviews with just the child/ children
The fact that fast food and frozen food were considered “the good stuff” is truly horrifying. EDIT: excuse my previous phrasing, Jordan’s comment about how fast/frozen food were the good stuff was horrifying in the context of how malnourished they were. They were living off of what was essentially scraps and eating fast/frozen food was the highest quality food their “parents” were rarely providing them.
My cousin sister would eat ice and butter from the fridge when left alone and when I told my dad, he was concerned she was left alone without food. Turns out, she hated the fast food they left for her so much that she'd rather eat ice or butter. It kept making her ill. So you're right. The standards are totally skewed.
@@WigWamFarms more or so eluding to the fact that they were so starved, to the point where they’d sometimes eat grass, and fast/frozen food was what they saw their parents eat. For me, I’d consider the real good stuff like restaurant food or home cooked food. For most of us, we can easily drive out to McDonald’s or Taco Bell for something, but they obviously weren’t even allowed out of the house beyond special occasions
That look and change from a goofy happiness to sorrow on Jordans face at 1:52 when she can see how it affects Jennifer is priceless. You know that they survived their ordeal because they all had each other. Away from their crazy parents.
Why are you so willing to believe something like this w/out doing your own research into it? There are so many holes in this story you could drive through w/a Mac truck! Have you seen ALL the interviews? You need to not be so naive and willing to believe things on face value. If you'd realize how evil the mainstream media is, you should know better than to fall for their propaganda which is legalized by the evil SMITH-MUNDT ACT which legalizes propaganda. See my full review of this in these comments if you want to see how to think more critically and rationally about this story. Even if the story IS true - it is choke-full of discrepancies and odd info that doesn't match up. A lot of these stories (most or half) are untrue and the other half that are true have been enhanced and photos and film footage - also has been 'retouched' w/ false narratives by media liars who need to socially engineer the public or boost their falling ratings. It's sad how many ppl are still falling for whatever they hear or see. We need to educate ourselves properly about editing and crisis actors and fake events that get labeled as 'real' when they aren't based on or rooted in reality much - if at all. Pls see the film, WAG THE DOG for further knowledge on how all this works. You can take a true event and blow it way out of proportion and create a wild story to get attention or ratings. Stop letting your heart strings be pulled so much until you use your critical thinking first. I'm not saying don't have empathy. But we need to balance our empathy w/ our ability to reflectively think first and we need to give it to those who truly deserve it b/c much of our empathy gets wasted on fake stories. No diff than those SPCA commercials that show all the abused and rugged-looking pets. They show you that to emotionalize you for your monetary contributions that DON'T GO TO THE CHARITY most of the time! They end up in the deep pockets of rich ppl who use us to get rich off of - why do ppl still fall for all this BS??? It's the 21st century - time to wake up folks!
they are beautiful but Jordan literally drop dead gorgeous like a supermodel. Just stunning. We havent seen the rest of the family but they have good genes. The people giving them are monsters though
The bond they share is amazing. The look Jordan gives Jennifer when she noticed her reaction to the picture is the reaction you’d typically see from a child. They weren’t allowed to grow up so they still have such a child like innocence despite their parents trying to steal it away from them. I hope they’re never sad again.
The parents are disgusting!, Having all them toys and new clothes and not using them! The freezer was full! They were blessed with 13 BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND FAILED EVERY ONE OF THEM!
1:45 The mix of emotions here are unbelievable. They both originally look happy when looking at the picture, and the brief glimpse of happiness turns to pain. You can see Jordan almost doesn’t know how to react. She does a half smile until she notices her sister is upset. Her expression changes so quickly. Something about that moment is so powerful and interesting.
What’s sad to me is the age regression in Jennifer. The way she speaks, her reactions, are not up to par with a normal 31 year old. It’s so, so sad. I’m so happy for these two and there is a special place in hell for their parents.
I think she sounds just fine. It's be hard to tell for sure. But I do know how under-exposed they've been. They have time now to learn though. Now it is their time. They'll be just fine.
@@melarie205 She looks young, and 31 is still pretty young, but her whole childhood was taken from her regardless. Physically, she's an adult, but mentally she's still running behind. This is another case of secret ClA tests on breeters. The ClA has been mind-controlling and testing everyone over the past decades... It's definitely the ClA's ideas to put others into a situation where they can only take a shower a year, as well as constant starving, methodical constant abuse, living in awfeI conditions, and sleep deprivation, and also total isolation. They have always controlled all industries (including the tech industry) and all public figures. They plant all sorts of ideas in humans' mind via hypnosis and then they mask hypnosis by inducing nightmares, which is why those that had a phone close to them had those nightmares. The main problem is/has always been breeters tho -- if breeters didn't ferce yet another sad soul (that cannot and wouldn't even consent to such awfeI things, including breeting without a C-section, which is the most awfeI of all) into a pointless mortaI existence, then there would be no ClA and no such tests, but all dating/breeting is to be banned soon, anyway, as are all other wrong things!
1:46 man that look the sisters exchanged broke me. I can't even begin to imagine how sick you have to be to abuse anyone, let alone helpless children, the same ones you're supposed to be protecting and nurturing. Disgusting. I just hope that all of them are happy and safe now, that they never have to go through abuse of any kind again.
And yet the president of the United States is being accused of sexually abusing his own daughter in the shower....per her released diary ! One sick son of a gun !
At 3:06 Jordan says "why couldnt we just be that family all the time"? Because when you're born another number you quickly realize More is Never Better! Im first of 12 and it is not physically, emotionally or mentally possible to be that mom. It is rarely financially possible to be that dad. For the love of humanity learn from planned parenthood
@@Mrs.Robinsons very true. it seems impossible to give each child an equal amount of attention when there are so many. i couldnt even imagine what it would take financially to care for all of them
I think Jennifer having gone to school and living through the abuse the longest is much more sensitive to everything related to her parents. Jordan's perspective is skewed and she probably used to look at the vow renewal as a somewhat happier memory, she's surprised by the strong reaction from Jennifer
I literally read this as they were looking at the photo... I know for a fact I would've missed her reaction... Her facial expression change drastically as soon as she looked at her sister face💔
@@ballinnnn3 sometimes i think about what would have happened if they never got any outside perspective and kept thinking this is how life is supposed to be. Get anxiety just from thinking about it
You also got to remember they each suffered differently. I think Jordan was the one stated they didn’t know what they each struggled. They were punished differently and they didn’t know about it. However, you can tell by their non-verbal queues that they have empathy towards each other and respect.
Their mother bought tons of toys and kids clothes just to hoard to herself while her children sit in filthy clothes, and accuse them of stealing food in the household??? The whole situation makes me so angry, and I'm glad they were finally freed from that prison.
Basically bought the clothes to laugh and say haha got all these clean clothes but you’re not allowed to wear them, you gotta wear your dirty clothes. Really sickening
Ya how fucking sick is that. Spending thousands on children's clothes and toys simply for the joy it brings you to neglect your children from those items. You know it was done for some sort of evil pleasure of knowing the kids have it around but aren't allowed to wear or play
Watching their facial expressions is so interesting they are so emotive. Likely from years of having to rely on non verbal communication. They are truly remarkable ladies.
This just touched my soul so deeply. Tears rolling down my face trying to imagine the hell these children went through. All my love and prayers go out to them. They are amazing, beautiful and pure. I hope their future is filled with happiness and that they can get over the pain.
1:45 the expression on Jordan's face when she saw her sister tearing up f'ing killed me. The connection between these siblings is insane. Much love to all of them.
the way that jordan's expression completely changes the second that she notices her sister crying is just so pure and beautiful. the fact that they endured so much abuse and still came out of it such empathetic and caring people is truly inspiring and it's a story i'll never forget💞
Just seeing those kids with their skinny arms dancing at the wedding wants me to meet their father, just for 30 seconds... you know what I mean guys? hopefully, the inmates will help us all get justice!
As a grown man of 37, I can say I’ve never in my life felt so sorry, proud and disgusted by a story. I wish I were a rich man that could pay for their therapy, their homes, an education, vacations, etc. what truly inspiring humans they are. God bless them.
I wonder if they realize how absolutely extraordinary they both are, and how amazing it is that they came out of this with their humanity, their compassion and their dignity intact. Remarkable.
1:45 the way she smiles, looks up at her big sister & the Instant switch of emotion seeing her sisters sad face 😔 they have an almost telepathic bond. It’s stronger than any us could even comprehend.
Jordan’s face when she saw her sister start to cry breaks my heart. That worried expression for her sister’s hurt is precious. The fact they are able to feel & express empathy is incredible, esp after none was shown towards them. They are such incredible survivors.
It’s an innate quality and they had each other to rely on emotionally, so the empathetic quality is intact and in fact, they will have even more empathy than most.
The honesty on their faces, because they so rarely were among people or in social situations, is astounding. This story tells us a lot about ourselves. About how vain and ungrateful we are most of the time for life itself.
Jordan's gotta be one of the best sister's/person ever. Everything she's been neglected in her life, but her ability to care for her sister and the amount of compassion in her still shines brighter than the Sun itself..

As a family that has 4 sisters and 1 brother, I completely had goosebumps at the 1:48 mark. The moment Jordan looks at the photo and remembers that moment in their life of "happiness" but looks over at her sister as she is about to tear up knowing the happiness was not there at all. I am here for the sisters. My goodness.
1:43 This is so heartbreaking. Jordan smiles at the memory in spite of everything (probably a lot of mixed feelings there), but when she looks up to share in that feeling and sees her sister starting to cry instead, she's so startled and concerned that she practically flinches. She's not upset that her sister isn't reacting the same way as her, she's just worried about her and sad for her.
It seemed surprising when you hear the older 'children' were in their mid-late 20s and still being held hostage but when you hear Jennifer speak, even 4 years later it makes complete sense. She still seems extremely young for her age - her manners and the way she speaks. Jordan is so amazingly brave and thankfully those parents were too lazy to get up earlier and notice she was missing.
@@hannahbg1852 I would imagine it's both from being traumatised and being so severely neglected that it caused a lack of development. They had no education and next to no social interaction, it's amazing they're as good at communicating as they are.
My parents were extremely abusive. My mother also suffered from extreme hoarding. We lived in filth and dirt as well. Hearing Jennifer talk about the smell in the first part and how it sticks resonates with me. That smell does linger even as an adult sometimes I can still smell how bad it smelt. As a kid I was clueless though and was bullied by my peers. It took 12 years and hundreds of reports to office of child protective services for my parents to loose physical custody. The system is beyond broken! This shouldn’t be happening, I was told by the state of Alaska that what happened to me was a “fluke” and that changes were being made so that reports aren’t filtered out. But this has happened in California, Texas, Alaska and many other states. When will enough be enough? How many more youths have to go through horrors like this before drastic changes are made?

1:45 that reaction from Jordan just melts your heart. She smiles remembering that family outing as a rare, happy event, where they all got to be out of that house together...

@@zeinmets3550 ah now I get it, thanks
That was in 2006 when she was probably 3-4 year old
@@aizai8984 are you crazy?
Well, thanks for that comment!
perfectly worded..
Nicely put 👍🏼
Jordan is so strong looking at the picture and then looks at Jennifer’s reaction and realizes she’s crying then looks back at the picture trying to see if it makes her feel the way Jennifer feels is so sweet Jordan trying to understand the emotions
It’s so sad because she didn’t share the same memory of that day. Jordan thought it was the greatest day ever. They way she was shocked when she saw her sister was crying, had me in tears. The way she hugged her sister with the warmest hug ever made me cry
I think that's less of a testament to their bind and more of a testament to them not being able to fully identity what their emotions are/being emotionally stunted due to all the abuse they went through
Wut?
Jordan looks like a curious person. In the vidéo her behavior to me is kind of like a child that is marveled by what is going on around them. Her sense of wonderment to me might be the reason behind her smile when she saw the picture because that is one of the few times they got to be out and dress nice.
Jennifer on the other hand looked uncomfortable in the video. Seeing that photo probably evoked a sense of the discomfort she had been through. Seeing how emaciated she looked in the picture she could only cry cuz she realizes how abused she was and how much it showed.

1:46 - As soon as Jordan notices her sister is in distress you see the genuine concern in her face. You cannot fake that, that is true sibling love.
That moment @1:45 mark...man. That was powerful. Their silence spoke a 1000 words. The connection with one another and the ability to immediately feel each others emotions so quickly through 'look' alone. It's a pretty clear pattern I've noticed. "Home schooling" your children is often a way parents hide abuse. There needs to be checks and balances in place!
There are some bad ones, yes, but there are terrible schools, too
I agree. Home schooling deprives your child from socializing
That is not accurate
The fact that fast food and frozen food were considered “the good stuff” is truly horrifying.
EDIT: excuse my previous phrasing, Jordan’s comment about how fast/frozen food were the good stuff was horrifying in the context of how malnourished they were. They were living off of what was essentially scraps and eating fast/frozen food was the highest quality food their “parents” were rarely providing them.
well its much much better than ketchup and ice
My cousin sister would eat ice and butter from the fridge when left alone and when I told my dad, he was concerned she was left alone without food. Turns out, she hated the fast food they left for her so much that she'd rather eat ice or butter. It kept making her ill. So you're right. The standards are totally skewed.
That’s the good stuff for me lol and I’m not starved
@@WigWamFarms more or so eluding to the fact that they were so starved, to the point where they’d sometimes eat grass, and fast/frozen food was what they saw their parents eat. For most of us, we can easily drive out to McDonald’s or Taco Bell for something, but they obviously weren’t even allowed out of the house beyond special occasions
That's the fact that horrifies you? Ok.
