OMFG....literally type this up in the search bar ONE hour after you posted it. Pure serendipidity. Your brake and oil change video have come in so clutch for me..Thank you Mike and FCP Euro
Awesome video! For anyone thinking of doing this make sure you’re prepared that it’s only this simple if you have zero rust… if you’re in the North East and the car is older than 3-4 years old you will be snapping rusted bolts. 1) make sure you’re ready and prepared at the possibility you’ll be extracting anything exposed to the outside and make sure you’re comfortable with extracting broken screws/bolts (4 of my 9 10mm snapped and were totally caked on, as well as the drain plug) 2) build yourself a cheap fluid transfer pump using a Home Depot HDX garden sprayer and save yourself money (a shutoff valve and a couple M10 brass fittings is all you need. 3) Get as level as possible. Luckily my driveway slant worked perfectly with the car facing down on ramps up front.
Love these videos! Concise and complete with practical considerations too! This is a really great service above and beyond the sale of parts and accessories! Thanks so much! A fan from Canada!
Great DIY thank you. Will be doing our 2018 for the first time shortly, 65K so it's time. Will be getting filter etc. from FCP, fluid will be my go-to Valvoline Maxlife. I plan on doing a 3x drain/fill to get as much old fluid out/new fluid in.
When you go thru the gears are the wheels moving? Or are they not moving and ebrake still on? Asking because I was thinking of doing this job on 4 ramps and no real lift.
I have a 2021 Tiguan SE with the same transmission. Are the transmission fluid temperatures for this service the same for my car or different. I am confident in doing this service but have seen conflicting temperature ranges for the Tiguan and want to confirm. Thanks!
An alternative to disconnecting the pump hose - just leave it connected and use the shutoff valve, then get it up to temperature and disconnect the hose. Let the excess run out or add more as necessary.
Is it me or does that 29934 really what the Volkswagen dealer sells but with Volkswagen branding on it? There are some posts that suggest that the Febi fluid may be one of the better ones.
@@fcpeuro I know that. 99% of the time it is going to be some other oil maybe in a different looking bottle with a private label. I don't know who makes Mazda's ATF FZ but there are two different manufacturers that could be producing it. Of course if in doubt about suitable alternatives there is always the one the dealer has which should be a safe known one.
I don’t have a scanner that gives transmission temps, but I have a thermometer gun can I use that to get the temperature of the transmission pan or that wouldn’t be accurate to do?
Greetings from Northern Virginia! Is the vehicle demonstrated a front wheel drive only? My 2018 SEL w/4 motion just hit 60K and wondering if these instructions will apply to my vehicle. Thanks guys....PS I performed an oil change following your video and it went off without a hitch, thank you!
Do you have to have that fancy pump or will any fluid transfer pump work? If I have to spend that much it's cheaper to have an indy shop do it. If I can use a cheap transfer pump from harbor freight then doing it myself makes sense
It's the same process on my 2018 Q3 (aka Tiguan). Same fill procedure with the stand pipe, warm up and run through the gears, then final drain to correct level.
Going to do this on my 18 Tiggy at some point this fall. With a gently stopping driveway and backing the rear up onto ramps I think I have her perfectly level… visualizing and hoping I can reach the required transmission hardware and filter from the centre while she’s up.
Hello My volkswagen atlas 3.6 under warranty my transmission change but is little bit hard shifting ,its transmission fluid is low ,please tell me its solution
my dealership hooks up a machine and pumps new fluid through the transmission they do not drop the pan is this good or bad my wifes 2018 atlas has 52k miles on it
Don't do it. Pumping new fluid will dislodge a lot of debris clogging up solenoids. Do what he does here unless you want to drop $8K for a new transmission.
Also make sure not to lose that fluid level tube or you might not get the fluid to the right level and it does not take much to overfill them and ruin them. In a way it is a good thing that they include them because without it you are sorta screwed.
I did this service last year before this video was up. Make sure to measure how much comes out and fill it back up with the same amount. I added a tiny bit more to account for what’s in the filter. Just fyi. This only takes out about half of the fluid. So I’m doing this every 30k and the filter every 60k. The transmission oil is not too expensive if you buy it online.
Love my Tiguan but good lord this is the type of stuff that makes me miss my Honda.. a simple drain and fill in 15 minutes and the transmission is serviced lol.
Does anyone happen to know of a cheaper Autel scanner that reads trans temps & haldex system? The cost of the scanner is the only thing holding me back from doing these services myself.
🙏🏻👍👍👍❤️💚❤️👏👏👏🙏🏻 Is it the same on VW passat 2.0 L, DSG, diesel 2021, 7 speed In so many country they have problem on VW Passat 2.0 L diesel, how many Litter oil + new filter for Transmission and different idea on how many Litter motor oil + new filter Is it right Transmission oil + new filter : 5,2 Litter ??? Is it right motor oil + new filter: 5,1 L OR 5,5 L ??? Thank you for a useful video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️💚❤️👍👍👍❤️💚❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Owners manual states to do trans service at 80k, which is a long time to wait. Dealers often only care about selling cars and then it’s your problem after that unfortunately.
The belly pan has 3 T45 bolts that are in the center of the pan, and about 12 or so T25 bolts around the perimeter of the belly pan
Thank you for dropping this in!
OMFG....literally type this up in the search bar ONE hour after you posted it. Pure serendipidity. Your brake and oil change video have come in so clutch for me..Thank you Mike and FCP Euro
Agreed!!
We are here for you!!!
glad you measure everything you drain out and give torque specs. showing proper diy's
Thank you!

Thank you for watching!
Amazingly helpful! Thank you fcp! Hate the music though, wicked annoying but I'll work with it
Great DIY thank you. Will be doing our 2018 for the first time shortly, 65K so it's time. Will be getting filter etc. from FCP, fluid will be my go-to Valvoline Maxlife. I plan on doing a 3x drain/fill to get as much old fluid out/new fluid in.
Thanks for the service videos. Just in time for my Atlas.
Glad to help!
Do you have a video for a 2022 Passat transmission change?
Can I do this at home without a pump?
When you go thru the gears are the wheels moving? Or are they not moving and ebrake still on? Asking because I was thinking of doing this job on 4 ramps and no real lift.
Foot on brakes. Wheels not moving.
Great video, THANK YOU
Thank you too!
The filter kit not come with the o ring?

Does the yellow/green drain pipe need to be left in after the job is completed? I didn't notice you remove it and wasn't sure
No leave it in place it is what maintains the fluid level.
Is it me or does that 29934 really what the Volkswagen dealer sells but with Volkswagen branding on it? There are some posts that suggest that the Febi fluid may be one of the better ones.
They don't make their own oil ;)

That was excellent!
Perfect!!! Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome!

What other option is there to fill it if u have no pump?
Do you guys can recommend a shop to do this?
Will these steps work on a 2019 volks wagon Tiguan se?..
Wouldn't this also apply to AWD 2022 and 2023 Atlas models? Curious why this is limited to the 18-21 model years.
Do you have to have that fancy pump or will any fluid transfer pump work? If I have to spend that much it's cheaper to have an indy shop do it. If I can use a cheap transfer pump from harbor freight then doing it myself makes sense
I used a handheld one from harbor freight and it did the job for me.
Thank you .
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I keep rewinding to 17:18 LMAO its not gonna fill it up in two seconds 😂
Thank You!
Welcome :)
Does this also work on the 2018 Tiguan mqb ? Thanks for the video
Different generation, but my 2012 Tiguan was the same process.
As long as it is equipped with the same Aisin 8 speed!

Hello
My volkswagen atlas 3.6 under warranty my transmission change but is little bit hard shifting ,its transmission fluid is low ,please tell me its solution
Fill up the transmission fluid, if it’s low that’s your problem, if you already hadn’t replaced it all yet
my dealership hooks up a machine and pumps new fluid through the transmission they do not drop the pan is this good or bad my wifes 2018 atlas has 52k miles on it

Yep!
Liked, not subscribed ... Yet! Good video. I just need recommendations for a scanner to read transmission temperature please.

Just fyi. This only takes out about half of the fluid. So I’m doing this every 30k and the filter every 60k. The transmission oil is not too expensive if you buy it online.
There's no reason for there not to be a fill plug or a dipstick.
sure there is. It is cheaper to make it that way.
VW is a disgustingly run company, ceos kid is actual trash. Scammy company, sucks I bought one, worst car I've ever had.
Love my Tiguan but good lord this is the type of stuff that makes me miss my Honda.. a simple drain and fill in 15 minutes and the transmission is serviced lol.
True but a lot of Hondas don’t have a filter you can replace without transmission removal!
About in minuets did take to get to temp.
I would say 50,000 or sooner if you notice any signs of it not shifting the way it was supposed to.
Does anyone happen to know of a cheaper Autel scanner that reads trans temps & haldex system?
The cost of the scanner is the only thing holding me back from doing these services myself.
If it's over 85F outside, you can do it cold. The window for this 30 to 40C.
OBDeleven pro. It’s really affordable for an advanced diagnostic tool, and it is incredibly useful for anything vw/Audi.
🙏🏻👍👍👍❤️💚❤️👏👏👏🙏🏻
Is it the same on VW passat 2.0 L, DSG, diesel 2021, 7 speed
