    Built in 4/1950 as a freight F7 #238L for ATSF.
    Rebuilt in 1974 by ATSF as CF7 #2472; retaining it's original cab top.
    Sold to IMC in the mid-80s serving at the Port Sutton, FL location.
    At some point it was transferred to Kinder Morgan before being parked due to engine problems. A scrapper bought the loco and many would think that would be the end. No. CSX wouldn't move the unit to the scrap yard so we came in like Superman and bought the unit. As Beanerboi mentioned, when we got the unit, we didn't have immediate intentions for it, probably would've been used as a part source for #1835 and #8330 until we discovered that the engine block and components were in real good shape. Such good shape that the unit could damn near run without any major attention. It was then our mindset on #204 changed. With that said, here we are now.

      Adam I have a question.
      Will any EX-SAL units be added to the FRRM Roster within the next 10 years

      2471 down to 2417 were all built with the Squared-off "Topeka" cab, with a large engineer's window above a knee window. Sides featured a large sliding window and a smaller fixed window, just like 2643 down to 2472. The round roof CF7s that had the cab replaced got a Topeka cab with one very tall window in front of the engineer, no fixed window, and the sliding window moved back 12 inches or so.

    Holy crap! I remember seeing this decrepit thing back when I volunteered in 2015. I never imagined it running again!

    It was rebuilt in the Shops at Cleburne, TX. There are two more original rounded roof CF7's in Midlothian, TX, a town away.

    IMC #204 still has its original F7 cab unlike most other CF7s. I remember riding on the train pushed and pulled by #204. It has a good P3

      Thank you, friend. She’s still a fine workhorse today. I’ve got a video coming soon of us replacing a leaf spring in one of its trucks.

    Great video! Do they ever go down the Parrish spur threw the main roads or csx come to the power plant?

      My apologies for such a late reply, but perhaps it’s convenient, as I’ve just recently gathered an answer to this. As of currently, the stretch to Ellenton is overgrown and out of service - though, it has a potentially bright future.
      I’ve just learned recently that with the museums contract with Florida Power & Light up for renewal in 2024, FP&L actually wants that right of way open, as the old carbon based infrastructure of their Willow power plant is to be demolished, and the byproducts, they want to go out by rail. If FP&L can fit the bill to get the vegetation cleared, the museum will gather the manpower to do it.
      You won’t see CSX on that line anymore, but there is the potential that FP&L and the museum may soon team up to get that line back open for rail movements. Stay tuned.

    There are only a very few rounded-roof CF7s left. MDDE 2628 and a couple in Texas are the only ones that spring to mind. MDDE 2630 (originally 2531), another round-topper, was scrapped a couple years ago after a wreck.

    I have definitely got to visit FRRM when I get time. Heard a lot of stories about the equipment from Adam Swindell.

    Beautiful engine, gotta say I love the IMC. Would be cool to see IMC 204s sister to be saved. IMC bought 2 CF7s, one being 204 and one being 215, IMC 215 had sported the standard cab unlike 204 tho. IMC 215 is now owned by Mosaic and is now MOSX 34, 34 resides at Mosaic New Wales out of sight and sitting “abandoned.” Its now been sitting on mosaic property inactive for many years and isn’t looking to great just like when IMC 204 wasn’t looking all that great. Would be cool to see maybe 34 have a bright future but for now she will sit..

      @kotabeaner  4 роки тому

      Oh yeah we saw a few locals and a Mixed Freight. Any outing that includes trains and/or fun is never for nothing!!! It’s pretty far but we do make the PC drive quite often. All I need is trains and I won’t go crazy!!!

      Well, I don’t know about you, but not many people make videos of the Brooksville Sub, (If you’ve ever heard of it) but I made the 10 minute drive to the tracks, and caught a local! I’ll post that here soon!

    Nice video Dakota!! It is outstanding that the locomotive is finally moving! She has a nice horn as well! I am positive that every railfan knows the feeling of heat. A few times it takes me out unless there is something rare coming. Nice video nonetheless!

    • @kotabeaner
      @kotabeaner  4 роки тому +1

      Thank Ya Paul!! Yeah the heat was BAD this day...I’ve dealt with a lot, but never this bad. Thought the overnight rains would’ve helped....HELL NO!! It was crazy brutal...and even better, one of the trains AC cars lost its generator. So no AC on one of the train cars!! Crazy dude...but in the end we did it!

      GP7 Yes, GP10 no. 8330 hasn’t hit the rails in over a year now...mechanical issues, but will likely get repaired this year.
