Although watching this you should have used some footage from kithchen nightmares. Nothing you say applies to my kitchen and staff. Sorry to hear your bad experiance, there are a lot of rotten apples in catering, if you would have worked with my team you would never feel like this 👌😉👍
Your job definitely looks more enjoyable than mine, glad to hear your team is good! You're in the description, I'll see if I can change it to a mention. I'm not monetized and make no money from videos, not that it matters much.
I worked in the restaurant industry since i was 19. I am now 33. I had a four year break with an office job but had to go back due to me being laid off. I was looked down upon because I choose not to work from open to close (more than 12 hours) and didn't speak spanish even though I live in America. I always get attacked because I am mexican american and dont fully speak spanish and i always find that so odd. I had to become "tough" in order to survive this industry because I was bullied by my own team members. I am a hard worker and i love working, but the people i have to work with are extremely difficult and rude. I never ask for workers comp and would continue working regardless of what injury I had. I also became an alcoholic and avid marijuana smoker to forget the emotional and physical pain I had/have to go through. The restaurant industry is so mean and it makes me feel suicidal due to bullying and the fact that i can't get an office job unless it's through nepotism because my resume is nothing but cooking experience. Oh, and I always get sexually harrassed at every cooking job I had and the one I currently work at, the guy purposely reaches over me and touches my breast or tries to massage me in some way. I hate it.
I feel you. 33 ten years in since 23. Also sexually harrassed verbally cus physically i wont tolerate. Even verbally i get confrontational(im a male). Unfortunately a lot of pervs work in kitchens.
Im guatemalan american. Spanish is from europe anyways.. its so silly that mexicans clown someone for supposedly not being mexican enough cus they dont speak spanish. Like dude you do know its a european language right?
16:51 I remember even when the dining area was full and the back of the house was under staffed (it was just 2 of us working in that section), the FOH staff would get mad when the food to go wasn’t made in 5 minutes or less, and then they would come back every 15 seconds to ask again
As someone who’s been in the service industry for around 13 years now… You hit it on the head lol I’ve been a waiter, bartender, cook, and a manager, and every shift ends with going to get drunk or sleep just to rid my brain of the stress the job brings every day
It's a huge struggle. I agree. Tensions run really high between workers and it's really stressful and sadly people turn to other methods to calm down after a shift. For a some people they have a path drawn out and avoid that hole but there's people who just dig themselves deeper every day. That's why you see people getting stuck on the industry and they stop caring.
Cannot agree more with the things you've said. I've been working for five years in the industry and I'm 22. I've seen all of the things you mentioned first person. Trying to get out right now, wish me luck!
Restaurant industry is only worth it if cooking is your passions and you plan on actually becoming a chef at a high end restaurant. Other than that it’s best to apply at a warehouse or as a Walmart stocker
4 years huh? Ooh boy, you ain't seen nothing yet. Consider everything you've seen and survived a warm-up and look into a new field now! You'll be glad you did before 25. PS: if you have a kid, stop at one. Otherwise, don't have em!
I started in 2003, at 13, and now, 21 years later, I have nothing to show for. I've been an addict and recovered and have battled with the S word and came super close once, and most people regret attempting their own life, but i regret not succeeding in doing so because guess what. Im still working in kitchens for minimum or slightly above minimum wage with the knowledge that i have no retirement and the likelihood of me living to retire is very low. As somebody who has been through 16 different chains, locations, and corporations. Stay away from this industry if you value your life. If you wanna burn out and pass away prematurely, then yes, this industry is for you. Me personally ive only met 2 cooks who made it to retirement, and they were both women. The oldest man I've met in kitchens was 55, and he passed from cancer from smoking.
Stay safe, buddy, wishing you the best. About a year ago, I did a 180 in my career and started finally pursuing something i was extremely passionate about. I love what I do now, and my future is looking pretty bright despite my lack of degree. The hardest part was deciding to switch and facing rejection and people who wouldn't take me seriously. But if you can work as a chef, you have incredible work ethic already built up. Just outwork people and keep your head up.
@@alfabius7042 Hang in there my man. Things can always get better. Try to find somewhere that treat you right. It might take time and be hard but it can happen.
Update, I'm worse than ever, and I'm not sure how much longer I can hang on for. Jobless now and injured, trying to survive as a cook was already hard enough but now I'm trying to survive on the government aid for that income bracket and it's no wonder 3 million of us are homeless....
For sure. The biggest truth is how darn tired you get. Your life is basically sleeping and working. You don't have the will or energy to do what you want to do even when you have time off. It's just sad.
Let me know what your experience in the industry was like.
Yeah, I like to work in the industry, I don't mind you use my footage, but at least give my channel credit mate 👌😉👍

@@SuddenYT It's OK buddy, don't worry, what you said was true, but it doesn't apply to every catering establishment 👌😉👍
Just quit my job in a restaurant, no tips and pleasing moron customers is just dumb

Lol this is so real. Just taking a 3 second break is enough to get everyone mad at you because you “are just being lazy”

Left it, thank you for sharing the primary footage of cutting all those onions/veg and your experiences!
Thanks for letting people know what goes on.
God bless you young man. You are going places 🎉

I hated everything about it I'm never going back
Any job where you’re constantly interacting with the general public is miserable.
