    Of all the compliments given to Ali, saying he "loved people" has got to be the best. Both these men were heroes to me growing up. Still are.

    So nice to hear Brown's thoughts on Ali. He really got to the essence of Muhammad. Ali loved people. He is missed by those of us who grew up admiring his boxing skills but loving him for his courage. RIP Muhammad, and God bless.

      Jim Brown was of course a great athlete too. I think he went to Syracuse University and competed in several sports and was nationally recognized. Of course, he wasn't a boxer, but he did become an actor. I respect Brown for his work with Amer-i -can. I think he recently celebrated a birthday. I'd say he is a true legend.

      Probably the greatest football player of all time along with Barry Sanders and Tom Brady, but Jim was intelligent to know he wasn't a fighter he could not have beaten Jerry quarry who was a average fighter ! It would be like asking Michael Phelps to play one on one basketball with lebron James ! Are you kidding me ! LOL

      @@douglaslett7504 Sir if I were you I would do a bit of research on Jerry Quarry. He was MANY things but an average fighter was NOT one of them. 53-9 with 32 knockouts. Average fighters dont KNOCK OUT Ernie Shavers. Ali didnt do it. Quarry did

    • @douglaslett7504
      @douglaslett7504 3 роки тому

      Sir when I say average fighter he was not in the same league as Ali, foreman, Frazier, Norton, or Liston. By fighting many great fighters maybe that's why he ended up punch drunk. I'm no way taking anything away from quarry I watched many of his fights. Cosell use to feel sorry for Jerry when he got beat up.

    Muhammad Ali said in a write up after Jim Brown spared with him it was concluded that fighting him was a bad idea. Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown final conclusion was they can make more money together using their brains not fists.

    There is another story, I think Ali told himself, that Brown considered fighting him, so Ali invited him to spar, and after getting punched in the mouth, Jim came to his senses.

      Jim didn't get punched, Ali invited him to "take a swing" at him, and Jim couldn't touch him. After about 30 seconds Jim gave up and said "Okay, I get the point".

    Was it really Brown turning down a fight with Ali? In one of Ali's biographies, it is explained in detail how they were play fighting and Ali made him look silly, making it very clear what would happen if they had a real fight. Just as surely as what would happen if Ali tried to tackle Brown on a football field.

      @@jackson5781 again you’re lying Bob Arum says that was only an excuse for Wilt. After Ali started yelling at him, the NBA legend allegedly felt intimidated, which led to calling off the fight.
      Bob Arum, who was present, reports that on the day of the press conference to announce the fight, Ali was waiting. Arum says that as Chamberlain walked in, Ali yelled, “Timber!” Arum told Hauser that Chamberlain, “turned white, goes into the next room with his lawyer, comes out and says he’s not fighting. I think Ali intimidated him; that’s all it was, at the moment of truth, Wilt realized that fighting Ali was a totally ridiculous concept.”

    ❤MR. BROWN... and Chamberlain my favorite basketball player but ... if the champ and Jim Brown we’re in the ring together and it was a real serious fight ALI would cut the living heck out of Mr. Brown as tough as he is he would have to tackle him ... and Mr. Chamberlain was an awesome stud as well but THE CHAMP ... would do the same to wilt even though harder to reach just like the champ would not last very long on a football field or basketball court at the same level as their professions
