Jim Brown great commentary about Civil Rights and Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali was a brave courageous man who was willing to do jail time, not fighting in Vietnam. Muhammad Ali money spent was almost not enough to keep him out of jail.

Ali's legacy outside the ring is arguably more important than what he did in the ring and he did fantastic wonderful things in the ring.

Muhammad Ali was totally justified in refusing to go and invade and commit atrocities against those who haven’t done anything against him. The great Malcolm X makes a lot of sense.

Jim Brown is lying. He organized a group of top black athletes to convince him to go. At the time there was concern that Ali was not sincere and that he could hurt all of the other black athlete's endorsement contracts in America by refusing to do his patriotic duty. The Black athlete would be rendered too controversial for Madison Ave.
Jim Brown was looking after his own self-interests and fancied himself the leader of all high profile crossover black athletes.
What happened instead was Ali converted them in supporting him.
And Jim Brown has said this in other documentaries about Ali. Now he changes his tune these many years later.
He also talked about his ill-fated promotion idea of fighting Ali.
It is reported that Ali took him outside and told him are you ready and then proceeded to smack him in the face five times with Brown, not being able to stop him or defend himself.
This ended all speculation on if he wanted to fight Ali for any cause or amount of money.

I support Muhammad Ali 100% in his decision to not go and kill innocent people in Vietnam. But I don't understand how he can be a minister of a religion that condones slavery, and how he could have still supported them after they murdered Malcolm X. Sounds hypocritical to me.
