thats because Emo bands were the first to realize, through social media and spreading your songs for free, that you gain twice as much revenue from table merch and concert tickets. A lot of other bands on Warped tour held the same sentiment. You can have 1000 people buy a song for $0.99 or have 5000 people show up and buy a $15 t-shirt and a $10 door ticket.
i was a pirate kid and always listened to music that way but the way i found Thursday was ironic, i found a copy of Waiting at the library. i took it home and ripped it and instantly liked it. it's cool for geoff acknowledging that the kids who liked his music pirated it was also was recognizing how we shared music back in that day, can't find a copy for a friend, have no way to link it or host it either, so you make them a physical copy. i used to send friends copies of games in the mail to make sure we could share culture, early 00s was rough. a spiritual end to physical copy culture that still exists just in a different capacity.
Thursday is criminally underrated. Many have forgotten them. They were above average Emo/Hardcore Metal or Hard Rock, however you want to label them. Worth relistening to.
I don't think they're underrated in the post hardcore scene. Held in high esteem as they should. Also feels weird to say 'criminally underrated' then describe them as 'above average'
I remember the day I first even heard of Thursday in 2002 my buddy had a Thursday shirt. I asked about it and he said they are the best. I then bought the album waiting and fell in love that day.

I remember when I had just discovered Thursday and fallen completely in love... I went for a drive with my best friend, so excited to show him this new band. I put on Full Collapse, and as soon as Geoff started singing on Understanding, my friend said "Woah, pretty annoying voice, huh?" Needless to say, my heart broke :P

I remember getting to see them on the War all the Time tour in Manchester. Right at the front. Screaming every word of this tune. One of my favourite album openings ever.
This was filmed at Northern Lights, in my hometown of Clifton Park, NY....Where they are returning this April!!!!!!! Cannot wait. Been praying for a Thursday reunion for years.
God Damn Thursday, the most underrated band in this genre even in their hayday in 07' they didn't get the respect and sales that they deserved. they put everything into their music, and its contagious. And this is my favorite thurday song by far, followed by cross out the eyes and war all the time. fucking great band yet I've never met anyone else who's even heard of Thursday. shame.
man he never failed to bring a crowd to life i remember seeing them in like 06 07 BMTH opened for them so most the people left afterwards and he came out like fuck this shit start screaming in mic playing 4 encores like no one had a bed time and gave it his all, the dove always flies high ill never get all the years of joy Thursday has brought to me been listening since waiting and ill never stop.
Real music real artists talking about the reality of the people who actually work for trying to make a living in this country. Not selling drugs and killing people.
i remember people hating this song when it first came out because everyone was so used to their sound from full collapse. I really respect how they evolved from album to album.
I used to work at SFO san francisco international airport. One day i was getting off when I spotted a lot of police and an ambulance.I asked what was happening to one of the bystanders he answered"Someone hung himself in the bathroom he has a suit and a briefcase older dude i wonder what happened".I started formulating theories in my head i imagined him being a businessman that lost his job and seeing no other possible outcome than to commit suicide.I hear it happens a lot people shouldn't be married to they're jobs its sad. Then this song came to mind because this album always brought those images for me i used to love thursday and at the drive in
Did he work in an office while writing this or something? Now that I'm older I can't believe how accurate this song is lmao.
Criminally underrated. But you know it, already.
allrain yeah, we know. nothing short of fucking stellar. this is Thursday
Covid on monday, covid on thursday.
Absolutely, this is my adolescence.
That's wattup 🖤
Especially this album. Lyrics were meaningful and not just Hawthorne Heights esque. They must’ve been highly inspired by At The Drive-In.
Almost 20 years and still hits hard!
Hey it's 2023 now you can listen to it again it is already 20 years right now.😎😎😎😎😎

Thursday is criminally underrated. Many have forgotten them. They were above average Emo/Hardcore Metal or Hard Rock, however you want to label them. Worth relistening to.
Above average? That's lowkey disrespectful to one of the biggest pioneers of the post-hardcore scene in the early 2000's.
@@andrewguvetis6941 Just my opinion.
I have not. They are fucking awesome is what they are. This song brought to you by a falling bomb. omg goose bumps. cheers to you

I still remember the day that I hit play on my cd player in 2003...
Thank you Thursday for what you did to me.

Thursday is one of the few only actual emo bands from the third wave
See this imo is a real post-hardcore band. Which is emo that's good. At the drive in, Thursday, cursive.. maybe thrice? Idk end of list.
Its like emo but with musicianship, and no radio play might as well be a prereq lol...
going to see them live in Chicago! they’re playing this album in its entirety!

Falling from the top floor your lungs
Fill like parachutes
Windows go rushing by.
People inside,
Dressed for the funeral in black and white.
These ties strangle our necks, hanging in the closet,
Found in the cubicle;
Without a name, just numbers, on the resume stored in the mainframe, marked for delete.
Please take these hands
Throw them in the river,
Wash away the things they never held
Please take these hands,
Throw me in the river,
Don't let me drown before the workday ends.
9 to 5! 9 to 5!
And we're up to our necks,
Drowning in the seconds,
Ingesting the morning commute
Lost in a dead subway sleep
Now we lie wide awake in our parents beds,
Tossing and turning.
Tomorrow we'll get up
Drive to work,
Single file
With everyday
It's like the last.
Waiting for the life to start, is it always just always ahead of the curve?
Please take these hands
Throw them in the river,
Wash away the things they never held
Please take these hands,
Throw me in the river,
Don't let me drown before the workday ends.
Just keep making copies
Of copies
Of copies
When will it end?
It'll never end,
'til it gets so bad
That the ink fills in our fingerprints
And the silhouette of your own face becomes the black cloud of war
And even in our dreams we're so afraid the weight will offset who we are
All those breaths that you took have now been canceled in your lungs.
Last night my teeth fell out like ivory typewriter keys
And all the monuments and skyscrapers burned down and filled the sea.
Save our ship
The anchor is part of the desk
We can't cut free,
The water is flooding the decks
The memo's sent through the currents
Computers spark like flares
I can see them.
They don't touch me,
Touch me.
Please someone,
Teach me how to swim.
Please, don't let me drown,
Please, don't let me drown.

This was filmed at Northern Lights, in my hometown of Clifton Park, NY....Where they are returning this April!!!!!!! Cannot wait. Been praying for a Thursday reunion for years.
I just noticed this grew up in Scotia and lived at northern lights
God Damn Thursday, the most underrated band in this genre even in their hayday in 07' they didn't get the respect and sales that they deserved. they put everything into their music, and its contagious. And this is my favorite thurday song by far, followed by cross out the eyes and war all the time. fucking great band yet I've never met anyone else who's even heard of Thursday. shame.
well said bro. they def didn't get the recognition they deserved. so talented and we're so awesome live. miss these days!
+Jason Bell Fucking great
No one is Thursday
These fucking guys were my obsession in high school in like 2005-2006ish. Still love them!
goof because if they did get famous they would most likely sell out like every other band out there
I have that The Cure shirt! Wow
I'll always love Thursday. Got to hang out with Geoff once. Sweetest guy
Their best song definitely
this song resonates in my soul right now
God, this makes me miss middle school.
man he never failed to bring a crowd to life i remember seeing them in like 06 07 BMTH opened for them so most the people left afterwards and he came out like fuck this shit start screaming in mic playing 4 encores like no one had a bed time and gave it his all, the dove always flies high ill never get all the years of joy Thursday has brought to me been listening since waiting and ill never stop.
Now that I can't find work I'd gladly drown in a cubicle 🥀
I feel the same.....Except the Save Our Ship part at the end is what gets me every time......Amazing band....
awesome song and some of the most powerful lyrics ever! incredible band!
so many memories to this entire album. the good ol days. Thursday owns!
Take me back to this time and drop me the hell off!!!
This band has helped me through a lot of times. Belting them out!!! Always will be a great memories for me...
fun fact: Thursday was Robert Smith's favorite band in 2003.
If this ain’t 2020 idk what is
One of the many bands from my youth I forgot about.. so many memories and so glad I found this again
I used to listen to this in high school. Man do I feel old right now.
Then this song came to mind because this album always brought those images for me i used to love thursday and at the drive in
John Olmos it is hi

I'm in highschool now and I listen to this. So yeah.
How's life now?
@@Muzikrazy213 unfortunately still emo
I used to keep people up all night in college with this record! It's best played at high levels of awesome. Thursday still destroys!
