Agree with the other comments that say this was a bit of a bait and switch, there was no comparison between an XC course today and an XC course of say 10 years ago. You could have shown how a 2013 'vintage' XC wheel is dramatically slower around a 2023 XC course compared to the ZIPP whatever McTyreWiz.
Pretty click baity title. Was genuinely interested but this is just a wheel advert. Sorry guys, as many have said - don’t mind it, love the channel and happy you guys get sponsored but feel this one has fallen flat…. How wild are the XC tracks?
Didn't mind the wheel review, but I was hoping for some demo of how someone could use tirewiz to optimize something, either lap time or grip or whatever. Especially with a bigger tire, I was expecting to see taking advantage of a lower pressure
would be cool to label this "sponsored content" instead of a click bait title that has nothing to do with the actual video... from what I can tell, it wasn't very wild.
As a long time XC racer, I think they're trying to blur the lines between Enduro and XC and I'm not a fan at all. Can I ride these more technical tracks, YES, can I still win my age group, YES and I DO. But it's changed the essence of this discipline and call me a purist, but I'm not a fan at all. I say let the Enduro events be just that and those of us who want to race XC, more traditional tracks, race XC. I'm not against changing things up a bit, but this is a little too much.
I think XC tracks need to be more technical. Especially with the popularity of Gravel riding, a XC race needs to differentiate itself from road, cyclocross and gravel, it needs to require the capability of a mountain bike and mountain bike rider. The idea that there are features that strong legs won't just get you over is something that I think is going to be important to the sport going forward. Already we are seeing xc being taken over by road riders on "holiday".
People like van der Poel and Pidcock aren’t ‘road riders on holiday’, they started off in cyclocross and branched out into road racing. They are hardly taking over either. They can win World Cup XCO and XCC events but not without a fight. For example, Pidcock only won the last round because Flueckiger, an XC specialist, had two punctures.
Be better GMBN. We love Rich and these wheels do look sweet, but if i wanted to watch a video about them, I would've searched for it. This was ridiculous.
@Global Mountain Bike Network.... Cross Country bikes are no longer Cross Country bikes, they are actually racing trail bikes. For typical cross country riding 110MM to 120MM of travel is to much as it sacrifices pedal efficiency and a lower bottom bracket height for down hill performance.
Aren't they riding the bike best suited to the 'cross country' trail they are racing on? I'm sure if an 80mm bike was fastest around the 'cross country' course then that's what the pros would use...
This channel has gone down the pan. It's mostly tired and recycled content and click bait promotions like this. It's a shame because it used to be such a good channel. Nothing lasts for ever i guess.
Zipp hubs are not reliable. Based on my experiences with zipp hubs , bearings are not seal properly and you will end up replacing them after few months of riding. Spent you hard-earned money on something else.
well, I thought this was about XC racing, but it was more of a infomercial about Zipp's wheel. I guess, I'll bite....rounding the rim lip isn't the best method. the curve still creates much more pressure at the apex of the lip than a flat spot would across its section width. DT Swiss knows this, and that's why their newest rim uses an extended flat spot (with rounded corners) to prevent pinch flats.
What do you think of the current XC tracks? Are they becoming too technical? Let us know in the comments! 👇
No I don't think they are, but adds are getting to blatant at GMBN without being marked as adds!!! 😕
Got bored after half the video was an advertisement...
Was there an mention of the track??? I thought it was an Advert for some over priced wheels 🙄🙄
Can someone point me to where they examine the tracks? For some reason my video just talks about a set of wheels.
Title should have been... Zipps new XC rim. I really would have liked some content on actual XC courses and the gnar we are seeing in them.
halfway through the video I realized this and had to take a second look at the video title.
Based on the title of this video, I was not expecting this to be a wheel review...
Seriously, what the hell lol

Just a long ad basically.
Ikr they barely even talked about the track

Great AD!
This reminds me of the "Infomercials" on T V from decades ago ... boo ... hiss!!!!!
Click bait title. No real content on XC courses. It was just a long commercial for Zipp wheels. 👎
it makes me think there will be a reset soon where some new category comes out that is essentially old style XC With some new name
Gravel racing!
Yeah, nah, I don't like to be tricked into watching ads. Unsubbed!
Xc is the new trail and it’s just cool. Luv it.
It seems to be heading that way 🧐

Mtb-news managed to break a rim in their short review.
5 minute difference Is bonkers When watching live the camera don’t do bike speed justice
Dayum, that's insane the time gap, pros are seriously next level
watching the xc races made me question if my XC skillset was still adequate of if I needed to expand it.
regardless of your skill level, it's always worth trying to improve. Learning new bike skills can help unlock even more fun!
2/3 of the video is just sponsored garbage
Change the title name to 9 minute add for xco wheels.
Thought gmbn was better then this
Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
is there a better looking top tube shape than that Mondraker razor blade

doesn't seem out of place on burly gravel bike

Click bait. Shame on GMBN for giving us a video that should be about the course but instead is about a wheel set.

Second time ever in my life when I clocked dislike button. Very misleading
Total bait and switch headline. Just a product placement ad for Zipp.
Zipp hubs are not reliable. Based on my experiences with zipp hubs , bearings are not seal properly and you will end up replacing them after few months of riding. Spent you hard-earned money on something else.
nah. not aiming to go faster and harder here.
just simple fun without too much crazy stuff so i ruin my body and not bike anymore.

The perfect tire/rim combo for XC has and will always be tubular.
