I've been looking for this song for 36 years. The first time I heard, I was on a radio station in Dallas, Texas. When I got back to Cali, I never heard it on the radio or played anywhere. I always asked about it, but no one heard it. Tonight, I typed in, "I am the manipulator 80s rap song, and it popped up. This beat was hitting then and still hits hard now.
I still got my original 12 inch vinyl of this. As a kid I would just sit and stare at the album cover for hours. Mixmaster Gee was an early inspiration for me. After hearing this joint I remember trying to find all sorts of records that had that Godzilla roar on it! It doesn't get any better than this for that time period.
This song still HARD AF. If you were banging this back in the day, you was on another level. And if you’re still banging this in 2022, you’re still on another level.
CLASSIC! I've been a DJ for over 40 years and I remember first seeing this 12 inch cover in the record store and I was pissed! I had an idea of performing with a group of DJ's and calling them my turntable orchestra. I wanted them in the boxes with their turntables and my initials on the front of the box like Lawrence Welk had for his orchestra. Once I heard this joint...can't front...wasn't mad no more. He beat me to the idea and on top of that, the track, the rhyme is PERFECTION! THIS IS HIP HOP MUSIC LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! Big ups to Mixmaster Gee & the Turntable Orchestra...M-A-N-I-P-U LATOR!
Fuck me, is this the greatest Hip Hop tune of all time? Rhymes, cuts, breaks, synths, production all on point. He goes in HARD. A lot of Hip Hoppers need to learn from this.
....but therein lies the problem. The rappers today threw away the fundamentals of the genre to make a quick buck and get a little fame. They are simply ignoring the basics of what makes the genre amazing. Thats like Lebron and Steph Curry ignoring the skills, talent and fundamentals displayed by Jordan, Ewing, Irving and the other legends of the game.
Boy this cut is nuthin but fire with nitro glycerin added to it! Shit is absolutely ferocious MixmasterGee was a beast! One of the best hip hop songs ever🔥🔥🔥

HARD AS HELL!!! I used to play this at every jam I DJed in the 80's. Still have the record and original cover...always wondered if he really used 8 turntables during live shows
This was one of my favorite back in the day! Scratches, cuts, use of an echo chamber, clear pronunciation of words, descriptive lyrics, one subject and concept and a flowing funky beat! The epitome of what a rap song should sound like!!
No matter how many times I leave a comment, I'm a say, they'll never be hip hop music like this again. I'm 53, and in my day the circle I came from in the mid 80s was the 💣 back then at basement and backyard house parties.
