Props to you - 10s is too much for a chase for me, especially the ex and Lv.x era 😥. Haha definitely one of the most overlooked eras but have some of the best art works in my opinion. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@TCGCollector I have a Secret Wonders Charizard holo and reverse holo both in PSA 10. All I need is the Stormfront Zard and I’ll have the complete Diamond and Pearl Zard collection in PSA 10
@@TCGCollector Yes, if you can find one for sale. The reverse holos NEVER pop up. And the regular holo there’s one for sale but the guy wants $5,000 for it.
Super cool youre collecting grade 9s. I also find it rediculous that a 10 is 10 times more expensive. We should be more focused on what we really want as collectors, not the how it makes our collection look to others. Really enjoyed your collection... super unique!
Thanks so much for your kind words! Appreciate you watching the video. Completely agree with your thought process. To add on, I find 9s are really good value (decent price for a mint card) and a lot of times the 9 price is similar to a raw mint copy so buying the already graded card becomes an obvious choice for myself
Awesome collection man. I definitely enjoy listening to you talk about the hobby. Recently I've been looking to add a PSA 9 Espeon ex from Unseen Forces, and PSA 9 Flareon ex from Delta Species to my collection. The price difference is pretty crazy on those 2 cards, even though their POP reports are nearly identical. Espeon goes for $750-850, compared to Flareon $200-250. I know Espeon is more popular, but I was surprised it was that big of a gap.
Thanks so much! Always look forward to your comments! Those are beautiful cards and I almost pulled the trigger on that flareon a few months back but it was a bit out of my price range. Wow, I didn’t know there was that much of a difference between the two cards… Guess there’s so many more espeon collectors out there. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking out my video! Exactly, especially for vintage I feel like it’s great value especially seeing how many of the 9 prices are close to NM-M raw prices
I think your method helps to enjoy collecting much more. People should understand that a vintage PSA 9 collection means 5x or 10x more cards than a PSA 10 collection.
Thanks for the advice! I'm thinking of resubmitting the unikarp! Although the crease doesn't really affect eye appeal, PSA is still quite harsh with creases. I think it may get a ~4 grade at BGS or CGC as they don't weigh creases as heavily
Thank you! Love your videos - watched every single one of them and congrats on your crazy BGS return. You actually inspired me to go to my first card show and I vlogged it too. Hope to meet you in person one day! Cheers!
Thank you! And appreciate you for checking the video out. I think the only downside to those cards is that they all look quite similar due to the rainbow pattern; however, I think they do have somewhat of a rarity aspect. They were some of the hardest to pull during sun and moon and since their prices are so low I picked quite a few up.
Very very nice collection dude. Just like you dude, I am a big fan of the DP lv.X Pokemon. I'm in process of trying to find a Glaceon Lv.X PSA 10 for my personal collection. Other than that dude, thanks for the share! I enjoyed the video.
Thanks so much man. Really appreciate you checking out the video! DP has some of the nicest card designs imo and is considerably shorter printed due to the lower demand. Good luck on that Glaceon Lv.X PSA 10 as I believe it is still the lowest pop Lv.X. I even have trouble buying the 9 for a decent price.. Would love to see your collection too - sure it's amazing.
nice collection bro, i do/think exactly the same about collecting 10s, but honestly 9 isnt even worth it either, my whole collection is psa 8s. cuz the difference isnt even that much from 8/9/10. I collect from nostalgia and i like to look at them but 10s are just overkill, 8 are just fine. Also if price of pokemoncards drop in the future holding only 10s will kill your bank.
Damn I also have my Empoleon X from back when I was a kid and mine does have that edge wear. Didn't understand how good my pulls were when I was a kid but I got a Blaziken ex and Magmortor X from like one or two packs. Sweet collection! been looking for the van gogh pikachu myself
That's awesome that you still have yours. I believe my mom tossed mine out! Wow, those are some great pulls!! I was really similar as I didn't care too much about the ex and lv.x cards but rather they had a high HP so that's why I liked it lol. Glad to be picking up some of those cards again. Thanks, would love to see your collection as well. For the Van Gogh pikachus, hopefully the prices drop more due to the restock.
Perhaps, my counter argument to that is a NM is technically considered a PSA 7. Seems like a lot of 7s are likely lower than NM raw prices. Just really depends on where you find the most value. If you, find the best value at raw NM prices, then that’s great. I think there’s a lot more people on the other side of the spectrum that only collects 10s. However, I do question if a card would be truly a “flawless” 10 if that makes sense.
@@TCGCollector that is true with the older stuff personally idc about PSA or grading in general as long as I verify the card is NM in my standards (no whitening, bends, scratches, smudges, or play wear in general) then I’m fine. But I do see where you’re coming from.
I came acoss your video & watched it fully, nice cards & collection. I’m just now starting to collect pokemon cards. Any tips ? I used to buy packs when I was a kid but now that I’m 19 I want to start collecting cards & make it my hobby. I seen on eBay they were selling PSA 10 cards for like 30 but i don’t know if there legit. I also just subbed 💪🏽
Thanks for checking out my video and appreciate the comment. I was in your position not too long ago and it is quite overwhelming checking out how many listings there are on eBay. As for tips, I would ask you what you collected as a kid (black and white, HGSS, Diamond and pearl, XY?, just guessing by your current age). I ask this because usually people have the most nostalgia and attachments to what they grew up with. A lot of people would start collecting what they had as a kid but it largely depends on what you’re interested in. People collect specific sets, types of pokemon or eras/card types. I would say that buying single cards off reputable sellers (with lots of positive reviews) on eBay is a good start if you want the most cost effective way instead of just opening packs. The PSA 10 cards you see for $30 could be real but it’s usually considered “junk slabs” as the card inside the plastic case is worth very little. To search up card prices, you can type the card name and the numbers you see on the bottom corner (card number). I know this is quite to unpack and hard to give you the best answer in a comment but please let me know if you have any more questions
@@TCGCollector Thank you for the Tips and yes I collected black & white and also X & Y, those mainly when growing up. I wanted to get back into collecting because of the pokemon 151 set, it just bring back memories and also a good way to start again and the cards look Nice. I also like the paledan fates set because of the shiny cards. Do you know any websites that sell PSA 10 cards or like just full art cards ? Someone told me TCG player. Thank you again for the tips
Yes, it depends if you are a lot about condition. For raw cards, TCGplayer is great but often times do not show you the exact picture of the card that you will receive but rather a stock picture of the card and you would be buying based on a generalized condition category (eg. NM, LP, HP, etc.). eBay is likely your best bet for PSA cards and mintier copies of raw cards as many sellers will provide you the front and back pictures of the exact card you'll receive. For eBay, just search up the card name, set, and card number followed by "PSA 10". Hopefully that's helpful. I do have affiliate links to both sites :). Happy to help if you got more questions.
Glad to have find another collector in Van - definitely not as common of a hobby as in the States. I really like everything J&Js in New West. Great customer service, clean store and fair at or below market prices for a lot of raw cards. Another one is treasure chest in Port Coquitlam but some of their cards seem to be overpriced priced especially given their condition. Do you have any recommendations?
@@TCGCollector I usually end up either buying online from eBay or take a swing in the dark with Kanzen, hobbiesville because the local card shops in Rmd are pretty overpriced. Thanks for the recomendation, will definitely check J&Js out!!
As of right now, yes. I think it's a pretty reputable company but I believe any of the big 3 companies should be good as well (PSA, BGS, CGC). CGC is a relatively newer grading company for trading cards but they have been around for a very long time in other collectibles (eg. coins). I think there might be some decent deals with CGC cards as most people are turning towards PSA but I still believe it's important to buy the card and not the grade. Welcome to the hobby! I was like that not too long ago and decided to just go with PSA 9s since I like the peace of mind when purchasing cards. Raw is nice as well but I personally want more mintier cards at the expense of less variety. However, what I find interesting is depending on the era of cards you're looking for, 9 prices are close to a lot of mintier raw copies at which point I rather just buy the 9. Thanks for checking out the video!
