Thank you Rob, Monti the V1000 is an amazing machine for laying down the miles. As you k ow it’s hard to beat the large displacement bikes for comfort.
Well, they do call it Big Sky! I know you enjoyed that ride back! Way cool to go back to where you worked before fighting fires. Gotta love the Mighty V-Strom 1000!
Thanks DOC650, amazing places around every turn. I had never been down that road very cool. I was flying and working fires when I was out there before long ago
Dave, if it was anyone but you, or Obi-Wan, I would have clicked off that opening! 😱 I have my heart set in an 1200RT, though Tim keeps sending me Voyagers for sale... And now your new videos are making me want a VStrom 1050! - Frank
Being different on the opening, good to know maybe not do that again🚽😂🤣 I’m off the month of September, I’m not sure when Timorama starts? I had planned on the 2nd annual outer banks tuna pokie run with Sir DOC650 and then head to the Northwest and ride where the wind takes me definitely the McKenzie highway in Oregon before they close it. The V1050 has useable torque, great mileage if you keep the rpm’s under 4500 and your cruise control or better know to all as “Franks Farkles”. Always great to hear from you.
I love open road riding like at the start of the video. A few years ago I rode across MT from West to East on MT-200. From a map it didn’t look like much (straight) but it was very scenic landscape. Great VStrom 1000 country, but definitely watch your fuel and don’t pass any gas stations without stopping.
Thanks Tim, you more than anyone knows that country and the magic of the big Vstrom on the highways. I’m looking forward to going back to the NW this year and not be in a rush.
They are a great motorcycle, I still find myself riding a lower gear than I should because the bike never feels like it’s working hard. 2018 V1000 is a nice machine. 👍🏼 thank you
Thank you pilot Dane, insider pilot fact ... Flew Air Attack 13 years and 4/5 years cargo the worst slam from turbulence came from the mountains to the West of Choteau, MT. I initially thought we had been hit by another aircraft, BAM!!! headphones in the back seats, everything in the cabin was in our laps. The guy sitting next to me had a gash in his leg that we have no idea what caused it. Smoothest approach and landing at Choteau because I didn't want to over stress anything that might be damaged. Plane was checked out and 100% ok. Beechcraft builds them well. Got back on the horse that evening and had a good flight over the fire. Yes .. Phoenix was every bit a hell hole last year. Whew!!! like summer on the sun. 🤣😂😳
I’m answering things out of order in between work. 1200RT great bike, give it a try. My V1050 came from a company that was going out of business that rented adventure bikes. The owner only had one V1050 and it’s soul purpose was when the BMW’s broke down or something minor triggered a “limp mode” on the bike he would trailer out the V1050 and load up the BMW’s his words not mine he sounded frustrated with the frequency of limp mode incidents for something minor happening. I loved Monti the V1000 but could not pass up a deal on the 1050. For me they check all the boxes, but to each their own. Whatever bike gets you excited to ride is the best bike for you. Cheers
THE MIGHTY VERBAL WIDGET !!!! - Your comments are hilarious !!!! - "Smells like cow shit and stuff" - No wonder your handle is "Verbal Widget" !!!!! What a cool little town - Thanks for sharing !!!
Like I said it actually is a good stink because I go back to my grandpa farm and milking the cows. Now I just go to Wallymart 😳😱 Thanks for watching OBI-WAN I always enjoy your comments, they crack me up.👍👍
That’s so cool, Choteau is a great place, I still have the Moose Drool pitcher from the bar there 😂I’ve been to Great Falls several times, bought a bunch of Suzuki parts from Steve’s Suzuki dealership. I love that area in the summer time.
"Steel toe, steel shank motorcycle boots. Vibram soles. Have rest stop restroom toilet hooks, to keep your hands/gloves clean. See price in cart!" 🤣 Thanks for the vid!
Those are my Alpinestars road race/ street boots, very comfortable and decent protection they have been across the USA a few times. I use the ballerina toe method because I’m dainty.
Big sky country, beautiful.
Magical place to be, I love the AZ desert 🌵 but Montana never fails to impress. Cheers.
Such beautiful vistas. A fantastic ride for you. Thanks for sharing!

This video did NOT start with an open road! 😕 - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding It was an open lid as I recall.
Just curious Tim, what are the dates of the Tim’s exploring American riding jamboree this year??
"V" !!!!
66 MPH in 5th gear @ 3200 RPM...watching your display....it's what makes the VSTROM 1000 such a great traveler. Effortless
I have a 2018 :0)

Will we see the 1050 at Timfest 2024 Dave? There will be one, or two other VStroms! - Frank

OBI-WAN ! I enjoy your comments almost as much as the videos.
Thanks for taking us with you!
Thank you for riding along.
Wonder what they do on Grizzly Day? I keep picturing it in 🥶 January!
January would definitely be an indoor event, I pulled it up on line and it looks like a fun time for all ages. Montana is a beautiful place.
Grew up in Great Falls. Been to Choteau tons. Used to hunt pheasant all around that area with my dad.

@@verbalwidget7267 🩰 I think we all use the "Don't touch anything!" method in some of those places. lol
I bet there's a few feet of white stuff up there now. Nice ride.
I’m sure there is, to cold for this Arizona native that’s for sure. 🤣🥶
What kind of fuel mileage did you get cruising like that? And now on your 1050? Just bought a new Wee Strom 650 & looking forward to some adventures.
45 to 50mpg with 48 being the normal.
The V1050 is supposed to get better mileage than the V1000 but I think it’s the same.
I only make videos to get comments from OBI-WAN😂🎉
