It has taken a decade or two for them to become the weak, incompetent regulator that they are and turn a blind eye to corporate corruption. It is the neoliberal approach that Au has taken for multiple decades. The LNP has governed for 20 of the last 27 years. They are equally if not more to blame for our weak corporate governance and oversight. But both parties are captured.

Just a point about the horrific cost of living here in Australia: - Nothing triggers inflation like 'printing' lots of extra money. Government spending is the primary culprit here. When the various state and federal governments gave out hand outs like 'jobkeeper' and such, they actually had no money to give and therefore went into a debt arrangement whereby they licensed the future generations existence. As this situation of insufficient government liquidity continues to exist, then all government spending is a problem insofar as it contributes to inflation. Everytime there is a new and further government response, such as what is being discussed with the so-called 'housing crisis', then anything the government does is going to contribute to the problem of inflation by injecting currency (not money) into the economy.
Those in powerful positions in powerful organisations in Australian have grown accustomed to doing as they please.......to whom ever they please , when ever they please . They are on notice .
