    Does this help lake Mead?

    • @gramo63
      @gramo63 2 роки тому

      NO, because the rain and flood occurred at a lower elevation -- and a hundred miles south of Lake Mead.

    Telegraph Pass is a really steep trail and before the fire it was widened so they could run cables to the top. I came down that trail in a gentle rain and the water just sheets off of it. Crazy video and sad this happened. A very cute little town.

      @donna d I was there later that day, on the road shown at 2:08, and the water level was lower but I saw it flowing next to the road just like it shows in the video. They had the road closed so I couldn't proceed

      @marie.1111 2 роки тому

      @donna d ok weirdo. I'm in AZ & have also seen the flash floods with my own eyes. They're real. We lost a ton of huge trees in a storm just a few days ago. Flash flooding, severe lightning, high winds, etc all over the state. Even up north the main highway that runs thru Sedona was turned into a raging river due to these monsoons. We get em every yr. This season has been particularity bad & it's only just begun. A teenager & a young child were swept away by the flood & killed in cottonwood last week. They have yet to find the teens remains. May she & the little one rest in peace. Her car was stranded & was about to be taken by the rapids when rescue arrived. Upon seeing them she opened her car door so they could try to reach her... The second she did that she was hit by a 6-8 ft wall of water & swept away right in front of the rescue crew. There was nothing they could do. She was the local Fire Chiefs granddaughter & her father is a local police officer. My brother lives there& the footage he shot w/his cell phone is absolutely insane. The main roads were literal rivers & moving Incredibly fast. These flash floods are real & they're truly devastating.
      Anywho, stop smoking crack & maybe then you'll be able to tell what's real & what's make believe. Take a break from your idiotic conspiracy sites, they're rotting your brain & making you sound like an absolute lunatic. I mean that from a place of peace & love, as well as concern for your well being. ✌️ & ♥️

      The burn scars from the telegraph fire prevented the monsoon rains from soaking into the ground, hence all of the flooding and debris. It's normal for that wash to flood pretty heavily during monsoons, but the fire exacerbated it this year.

    This is a common aspect of desert hydrology. The average rainfall amount is small, spread across large areas. But in localized areas it can be a huge amount. Low rainfall average amount indicates stormwater planning should be minimal. The storms like this one change that thinking.

    The best solution is moving out off the flood zone.

    • @jwspurgeon85
      @jwspurgeon85 Рік тому

      Yeah, we're not really in the flood zone here. We have creeks and gullies that usually divert heavy waters away from the town. The problem is the massive fire we had a few weeks before this particular storm, one of the biggest in Arizona's history, which burned huge amounts of woodlands and eliminated a lot of the natural brakes and safeguards that keep this much water from welling up here in town. Getting hit by a microburst is probably the worst thing that could've happened so soon after the Telegraph and Mescal fires.
