The window was a big win for me so I decided to make an episode featuring the things I've had fear over doing myself. Hope you enjoy the second video of this week! LOVE YOU GUYS xx.

Really enjoying this series and the time you’re taking to make sure everything going in the space is done right! I’d much rather have a longer series seeing all the steps and you taking us through each phase than you rushing to get a finished product done. So please don’t feel like you need to rush to get content out! We are here to support you and want you to feel good about what you’re building for your home!

I love that you split your projects now in picese!! It so much more rewarding and connecting to see you actually do the things and how you ended up doing them instead of you going over them briefly in one giant 35min video where it's much more a overview of the before and after... Wich is also nice but it love the process and details so much more 😍 also milk your work lady!!! Do as many small videos as your please with your trailer - we are invested addicted people anyways and will watch anything you put out! So you can make more profit of of your journeyand in reverse make more beautiful and unique projects come true

@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz also if you want excellent building knowledge go to Diyfferent 's channel. He has renovated a couple houses by now all by himself. He is such a great carpenter (self taught like you) and you always learn something new form him. He is also less project based and more' vlog style' he films the journey along. And he's done it all!!! Plumbing, electrical, roofing, outdoor finishes, framing, tiling, window installations, a small camper conversion, you name it! He also always explains what he's doing and WHY he's doing things!!! And his work is always top notch!!! Check him out!

They make metal plates that hammer onto the stud where you've run wire through if you want to add them. That way, you won't be able to hit the wire in the stud if your stud finder misses it or you don't have one on hand. Just makes it extra safe.
    The window looks great!

Hello!! When you're wiring outlets, etc. You want to leave 8"ish inches of extra wire (curl it up in the box) so that in the future, if you have to re-wire for whatever reason, you have extra length and you won't have to snake a new wire since it was too short. Extra is always better!

Awesome job! Lady electrician here and I love seeing you tackle your projects like a boSS!
Here are a few rules to follow when wiring - secure the romex within 12 inches of entering the box and at least every 4.5 feet, leave at least 6 inches of cable from the point of entry into the box, and use a metal plate at least 1/16 in. thick anywhere the cable is less than 1.25 inches from the edge of the wood member.
    Here are the supporting articles.
NFPA 70E, Article 334.30 Securing and Supporting. "Nonmetallic-sheathed cable shall be supported and secured by staples, cable ties listed and identified for securement and support, or straps, hangers, or similar fittings designed and installed so as not to damage the cable, at intervals not exceeding 1.4 m (4 1/2 ft) and within 300 mm (12 in) of every cable entry into enclosues such as outlet boxes"... etc.)
NFPA 70E, Article 300.14 Length of Free Conductors at Outlets, Junctions, and Switch Points. "At least 150 mm (6 in.) of free conductor, measured from the point in the box where it emerges from its raceway or cable sheath, shall be left at each outlet, junction, and swtich point..."
NFPA 70 E, article 300.4 (A)1 Bored Holes - "holes shall be bored so that the edge of the hole is not less than 32 mm (1 1/4 in.) from the nearest edge of the wood member. Where this distance cannot be maintained, the cable or raceway shall be protected from penetration by screw or nails by a steel plate (s) or bushing (s), at least 1.6 mm (1/16 in.) thick..."
    Keep up the great work!!

you should have already looking into the permits to be honest. in my area at least and most places really, you need them before window installation, hot water heater installation, fencing, any plumbing or electrical work, anything that changes the footprint of a home, any structural changes, etc Faucets, countertops, flooring type stuff generally does not need a permit but all the rest, you need them....you don't want to get into a position where you do the work, then go for the permit, and then get denied and they make you undo it. That's the point of the permit, you are basically getting plans approved, and paying them for the permission to do it (which is bullshit but the way it is unfortunately) So you've already crossed the bridge, you need to look into it now girlfriend.

You ladies are brave AF. Just amazing what you can do. Girl power💪🏽. I moved out of LA and purchased a home out in the burbs. It was already remodeled so I didn’t have to really do much the only thing I’m doing is just changing out certain things and redecorating it to my taste and I added a subway backsplash in the kitchen, changing out all the fixtures and handles to matte black. You are doing a great job 👍🏽. I filmed a lot of it on my channel pdubstuff.

To block the neighbour's buildings, you can always do an arched wood piece and create a mural that matches the scenery. Sculptures may also work as well. Or think about something that you need/want that could go there. Or just plant some trees! And have some nice stone paths leading in different directions. Whatever you decide, I know it will be creative and beautiful!

can we talk about how awesome it is that you show us all these steps and how to do things right and all your process? Not only is it super satisfying to watch but I really feel like all your videos especially lately are also really informative and like a learning opportunity, and I'm really enjoying the "slower" pace of this series, I think if you'd done only one videos for this bathroom there would have been so much of the process getting lost, and I really really love how much effort you put into showing us all these steps and all these episodes.
