In the Japanese village of Nagoro, where the youngest person is 55 years old, life-sized dolls outnumber living residents 10 to one. This 69-year-old woman has been making these dolls since 2003 as a way to liven up her empty village.
Imagine if somebody mistakenly arrives in this town at night with no light.

Nope,i agree its a lil bit creepy,especially when its pair with dolls and she said about taking it as a deceased people(her dad,etc) as replacement,i am not suprised if one of the doll moved when u visit there

She has been working for more than 15yrs to make these dolls. Artists & craftmen are always alone.
Some city people have achieved nothing in their life.
Waking up in the morning is an achievement, pulling off a fake smile despite being sad is an achievement, working 8-12 hours for your family is an achievement. There is something artsy about living the city life , and if i would try to say it in your narration, city life could be considered as an art with a sad theme.

This is sad. They're just lonely and want people to visit them...
So sad to see the decline. She must have had lovely memories of her time as a kid. Now it isn't being emulated.
In my opinion, the biggest challenge the world faces is over-population. This creates huge stress on earth and accelerates global warming. Whilst it's so sad to see this happening in Japan, it's equally worrying to see uncontrolled population explosion on other countries.
It's a dying community struggling to fight the loneliness feeling of left behind by their young people. They're on the edge of being a ghost town, so it's a sad truth.
It also happen everywhere in the world. Young people leaving to find works in big cities. Nowadays, only very few young people want to stay in the village and become farmers.
@Nitish Ranjan kalita If the country even couldn't handle their own citizens who paid taxes, why would they take care refugees? For first world countries, refugees means more problems.
This is sad most of all..... just one lonely grandma missing days filled with people

That's actually very sad. It shows how much they want to interact with outside people. And she's doing something for her village. Very creative.

@@yoongmian1599 Don't worry I know that. It's just for me staying long term in big cities makes me literally sick. There was that time I got a headache, one where I fainted and another where I got an asthma attack. So nope. I really don't like staying in big cities

It's hard. Yeah. Because as the cities grow, the villages and what's historic about countries like Japan start dying. That's not something one person can fix. It takes a whole group to do it. If they care.

The dolls are cute and amazing, they are not creepy... I would like to go there someday.. Do japan still have that "One Child Policy"? Dolls makes the village happy in a different way. This is alarming and sad..

Her village looks very quiet,calm & peaceful.Inshallah one day will visit her village and even buy some of her handmade dolls.
I can only imagine how lonely the people are.
