I love watching these videos because it's just so peaceful. This was a great install, even if it's not for me. Call me old fashioned, but I just like keys. I think after I get mine I'll install a steering lock and a GPS tracker. I will however probably add a bunch of heat-shrink on the connectors; not just to slow people down, but I have also heard that it helps keep water out.
Great video, got help from a friend; came up with the idea to leave the ignitionswitch where it is and just disconnect it, hide the 'brain' between filter/battery, but then cable that goes to headlight had to be extended but I think it was a cleaner install and old switch works like a dummy :-)
Hi JE Wallin, did you have to remove the gas tank to fit the brains of the DAWG between the filter/battery or was seat removal enough on its own? I am thinking of doing this installation but want to know if I can leave the gas tank in position.
Great vid! Now that it’s 3 years later, 2 questions: 1. How long did the fob battery last? 2. Did any corrosion start at those points where you cut the cover?
This fellow gives very good instructions but I want to caution you if you remove the tank. You have to be very, very gentle and careful with the fuel line from the tank. I pushed it and twisted it and the plastic elbow joint on the tank end broke. So, read the manual about tank removal and replacement. Be gentle and don't twist the fuel line. And, it is a LOT easier if the tank is empty or close to it. Otherwise, it will cost you $60 to learn not to twist the fuel line. I found it very easy to install the system and I positioned mine under the rear part of the gas tank. Good luck.

Hitendra Sarthi I don't know what the top speed is. It easily does 100, which is enough to get you arrested in most parts of the US. They're both great bikes. Ride them both, decide which suits you.
I have a 2015 Indian Scout with a EJK tuner, Arlen Ness Torque Box air intake, and Crusher exhaust. With that being said, I've had up to 130 and it still want to go.
It will easily do well over 140 mph with : *Hacker Mayhem exhaust w/ sensors *Hacker Tuned Fuel Mapper *Screaming Eagle Duel intakes Would suggest a seatbelt with these Mods! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Sir,good work and skills. I would suggest using your original ignition cover but put an Indian medallion or Concho over the Hole. Thereby not having to order the right side cover and having to grind a cavity. I'm not being snarky, just my 2 cents
I had the same idea before I saw your suggestion. Makes it look like no modification was done. Although it looks fine the way it is. Still was a good idea.
I took this approach, using epoxy to cover the ignition hole from the inside with an Indian Coin. It actually looks very nice, though it does not look as "factory" as ordering the other piece. I may eventually order the other and do it the way he did in this video, but the coin approach works very nicely for me right now.
Im doing the same install and using the thermostat cover method. What did you use to cut it and did you attempt any other methods. Whats the tool at the end?
The tool I was using at the end was a metal cutting bandsaw from work. Any tool that can cut metal would work. Dremel with a cutoff disc, air cutoff tool (die grinder), if you were really patient a bench grinder could do the whole job (just don't get the metal too hot, it'll discolor the chrome). I'd avoid using a jigsaw or a sawzall, that would probably end badly. :) A hacksaw, if you're REALLY desperate might work, cut from the back side towards the front.
Great job! I'm looking to order this for my Scout Sixty. Curious if you can still put the bike into park where the lights somewhat come on and device charging is enabled? Not a necessity-just wondering.
Oh okay. Right on-good to know! I've only used that function to smoke a cigarette late at night parked where there's no lights off that back road-I work in a tucked away area of North Austin. Otherwise I wouldn't see any use at all.
mtnbiker1617 Yeah, picked them up from an ad I saw on Facebook. Made by a company called Trip Machine. Aside from needing to be waterproofed, I really liked them. Easy install, great color and price. Definitely helped the stock grips not feel so thin.

Hate to point it out, but a chipped key makes no difference whatsoever if you have replaced the entire ignition switch, which would include the chip reader. What is needed is a far more secure method of affixing the bracket and cover. Personally, I would switch out the allen-head screws to a more secure design, which would offer at least a slightly higher level of security. I would also probably install a hidden kill switch. Second thought: instead of buying and modifying the cover plate for the opposite side, I'd just have left the original ignition module in place... call it a decoy, if some freakin' idiot wants to try to swipe the bike by punching the igntion or popping off the cover, this would confuse the HELL outta them...
The chip is registered with the ECM on most vehicles. Having it registered only with the switch would definitely lead to that large security hole, as you mentioned. The convenience of being able to just walk up to my bike, sit down on it and go, is far and away the best feature of this unit. The keyfob just stays in my gear. ATGATT.

Just did this and the Arlen Ness gas cap. Both are the same procedure on an Octane as well.

Three years later, the keyfob battery has not died yet. And no, the cover hasn’t rusted or anything.

My bike is a 2015. I have little doubt it’ll work on 2020 as well, Indian hasn’t changed anything on the bike yet. Same generation.

Daniel Riggins yeah, if has an accessory wire you can hook to a toggle switch. I didn’t see a need for that feature so I didn’t wire it up.

You can also start it with a copper wire and some electrical tape. Just saying.
