I’m living in a simulation. I’m installing the same head unit in my Odyssey tonight and now I know exactly how it’s going to look and how to fix something I didn’t plan on having problems with. It’s never this easy. Great video!
THANK YOU!!!!! I HATE MY ALPINE RADIO SO MUCH!!!! I know what you meant when you were going to grab the hammer. I have wanted to punch my Alpine piece of sh!t. Great video!!!
wow. thanks a lot! i don't even need the bypass even though i already have one. but i had the put the parking brake from alpine headunit to the orange and black illumination for it to work.
Came here praying for help, and i think i found a savior. We have the same honda odyssey. I tried to ground the parking brake, NOPE. Tried the bypass, NOPE. Trying this tomorrow. Let is pray it works in this odyssey as well cus im ready to throw the whole car away. 😂😂
Instead of the illumination wire couldn't I use another 12v switched power source like the remote turn on or power antenna wire? I dont want to drive around all the time with the parking lights on.
You don’t have to drive around with the lights on, watch the ending of the video. You just have to turn on the parking lights then off, then you’ll have full access to the settings.
So just take the parking brake wire and connect it to the illumination wire and that’s it? Then turn headlights on and then off and it works? I have the same Alpine head unit.
Thank you for good information. I can't get a bypass in Korea, so the video was helpful. and i have question, I'm trying to install the switch separately. then i need connect to illumination 12V+?
Hopefully this method works on my 15 Sentra when i get the USB Mini adapter in the mail & i get home from my next trip. Just went through & put it in my car to find out you can't just ground the Parking Brake wire anymore, then found this hack but I'm not gonna go back outside for another hour after i rewire the parking brake wire to the dimmer wire, put it all back in & hope it works just to take it back out next week & put it back in lol
This is free but your parking lights have to be in the off position , to access setting and access to everything else by bypassing the parking brake switch connection , with this method , you can not have your parking light switch , in the parking lights “on position” cause you’ll lose access to settings and all the other functions when your car is in motion , right or I could just be making it more complex ..lol
Do you lose access when you turn your headlights on afterwards? Or the Parking lights? Or once at satisfied with you doing that one time, it’s always unlocked?
@@fittydeuce the only time I lose all access to all the settings is when the car is in motion , when the car is a stop it gives me all access to the controls and all settings , but idk I could be wrong ... I haven’t drove the car for a few months , since it’s motorcycle season and I need to do a bunch of work to the car 🤷🏻♂️ but yeah I think 🤔 ...
I just did this with mine and it has no effect at all. I have a PAC interface so I can keep my steering wheel control buttons. Do you think I might need to bypass the PAC interface and tie directly into the vehicle illumination wire?
@@MrRangerZr1 will this work with a 06 mustang shaker 1000 system ..??? the orange/illumination wire and the yellow and green brake switch wire tied together will work by switching on the parking light 💡 ?, my metra harness does not have a orange/white illumination wire , just a orange/illumination wire , hope this works with out the bypass device that I was about to order , hope this saves me some time and 💸💸💸. 🙏🙏🙏 thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
There is a small chance I didn't check that the lumination wire is also the dimmer wire. So if your dash light dimmer is turned down it won't see the 12v needed. Turn dimmer up max and try again. Small chance but worth a shot
This is COMPLETELY INSANE. rushing to leave on a trip got this installed and everything put back together, go to look at settings after using CarPlay and now I’m reading all this parking brake shit. Complete dog $hit. Over stepping. Ridiculous. Lock my doors when I don’t want, beep at me for belt when it’s legal to ride motorcycles...no settings options on my $333 alpine radio because I didn’t connect the parking brake wire? Omg dude. This is very extreme to me. I get safety but hey Crutchfield put big bold letters on installation guide or anything. What a shame.
@@tylerbeard4092 Its Alpine's fault for overstepping their bounds and going anywhere near your parking brake. Of course you wouldn't understand, millennial.
@@saintadolf5639 I agree that this parking brake issue sucks and it’s bullshit and yes I’ll even agree it’s Alpines fault. But my point is this is actually very common and every company does it. Check your work before you screw it down

Great video!
Bro. How tf am I having issues with these relays not working but then I see this free fix and it works. Thanks man.
You need a PAC Bypass. Its a little tag on that you attach to the ground and receiver to bypass the restrictions(by the law)
Best video. The micro bypass did not work on my 2006 tundra, but this trick did. Thank you.
This is dope if i can get it to work this weekend, having no Bluetooth is driving me crazy

As you saw in the video
When you say connect the parking brake and dimmer wires, do you mean at the harness that connects to the HU? Thanks
yes
Great job
Wtf ts really work THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏

Just follow the video and it should work
Connect it to the blue remote wire that way it's on if the HU is on
The best way!

It should yes

parking light wire, not headlight wire.
